Orioles | J.J. Hardy could return soon

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 17:38:32 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) may accompany the team on their upcoming road trip. He is eligible to return from the disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) may not require a minor league rehab assignment before being activated. He should be stashed only in AL-only seasonal leagues. Paul Janish ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will continue to see most of the time at shortstop for the O's in his absence but he provides nothing more than salary cap relief.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy works out

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 15:29:12 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) took batting practice and ground balls Tuesday, Sept. 1, and said he felt fine. He said he'll "sprint and run" over the next few days before the Orioles think about activating him from the disabled list Sept. 8. A minor league rehab schedule has been discussed, but it may not be necessary.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) doesn't have much time to make an impact for fantasy owners in the season's final month, which is why he should only be stashed in deeper AL-only leagues. Paul Janish ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) should continue to hold down shortstop duties until Hardy returns, but he isn't of much use in any fantasy baseball format.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy will receive PRP injection

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 14:27:41 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (groin) will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection Thursday, Aug. 27, and will not rejoin the Orioles until Friday, Aug. 28, at the earliest.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is expected to only need the minimum time on the disabled list, so he is worth a short-term stash in deep mixed leagues. Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has been starting in place of Hardy, and Flaherty has fleeting value in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues and is a low-priced flier at FantasyScore.

Orioles | Encouraging news for J.J. Hardy

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 16:04:06 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (groin) received positive results from his MRI exam, and he will rejoin the Orioles Tuesday, Aug. 25. Baltimore is hopeful Hardy will only require the minimum of 15 days on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: The timeline would keep him out through the second week of September. Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is a fringe asset in deep mixed leagues, and while he can be stashed, it isn't necessary if you need the roster spot. Check back for updates on his recovery and return timetable. Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is starting at shortstop Monday, Aug. 24, and he projects to receive the majority of starts at the position in Hardy's absence.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy put on DL

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 09:28:49 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (groin) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a groin strain Monday, Aug. 24, and OF Steve Pearce (oblique) was activated from the DL in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: With Hardy sidelined, Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is likely to fill in at the 6. He's worth a look in deep mixed leagues for infield depth, but he won't give you much else. Hardy was hitting only .222 (74-for-333) with seven home runs and 32 RBI, so he should only be retained in AL-only leagues.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy headed to DL

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 15:51:14 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (groin) is likely heading to the 15-day disabled list at some point Monday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has tried to run and work out of the injury, but it is getting to the point where the team can't wait. Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap), as previously mentioned, is hitting .111 this month and is not an option for FantasyScore. If Hardy's out longer, see who the Orioles put in as a possible replacement.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy not playing

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 10:21:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (groin) is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Sunday, Aug. 23. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at shortstop and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known when Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) will return to the lineup. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting only .111 this month and should not be an option.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy slumping

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 15:55:24 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy is hitting just .226 in 28 games since the All-Star break. He's in a 3-for-34 slump in the last nine games after singling Monday, Aug. 17. However, he's hitting .295 (13-for-44) with runners in scoring position and less than two outs this year.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is batting .226 (72-for-318) with seven home runs and 30 RBI this year, making him a pretty mediocre shortstop option for those in daily leagues. You shouldn't want to use him tonight against New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom, either, especially while he's slumping.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy receiving a breather

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 11:23:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 12. 2B Ryan Flaherty is starting at the 6 and hitting seventh against Seattle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma.

Fantasy Tip: Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has only six hits in 51 at-bats (.118) with one home run and two RBI since July 1, and he's not a strong option at all on FantasyScore today, especially at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy has hit in 10 straight

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 22:31:01 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy went 1-for-3 with an RBI Monday, July 27, against the Atlanta Braves to push his hitting streak to 10 games.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is hitting .314 with seven runs scored, a homer and six RBIs during his 10-game run making him a sound investment in FantasyScore.
