Colts | Frank Gore transitioning smoothly

Thu, 21 May 2015 05:37:47 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Frank Gore was made a "pretty seamless" transition to the Colts' offense and is displaying strong knowledge of the playbook, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: At 32, Gore's best years are likely in the rear-view mirror. However, a slight resurgence with his attachment to a strong offense isn't out of the question, especially in the touchdown department. Additionally, FantasyScore players and PPR owners will be interested to find out how Gore is planned to be utilized in the passing game, so check back for updates on that front. He has snatched just 27 passes over the past two seasons, after all. He should be drafted as a low-end No. 2 running back in traditional formats, and unless you're expecting a huge spike in receptions, Gore is best suited as a No. 3 back in PPR leagues.

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 16:11:24 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts RB Frank Gore's three-year deal is worth $12 million, with $6.5 million guaranteed. He'll have salaries of $1 million in 2015, $1 million in 2016 and $3.5 million in 2017, and he'll have roster bonuses of $3.5 million in 2015 and $3 million in 2016.

Colts | Frank Gore agrees with Colts

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 15:13:55 -0700

Free-agent RB Frank Gore (49ers) officially agreed to terms on a deal Tuesday, March 10, that will guarantee him $8.5 million.

Fantasy Tip: Gore is entering his age-32 season, but he has still managed 1,000-yard rushing seasons in eight of the last nine years with the San Francisco 49ers. Gore is expected to share touches behind Andrew Luck with Daniel Herron and possibly Ahmad Bradshaw if he's re-signed. Gore's days as an RB1 are long in the rearview, but he can be valuable as running back depth, especially if he's used often in the red zone by what should be an explosive Colts offense yet again.

Colts | Frank Gore planning to join Colts

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 09:25:43 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore is planning to sign with the Indianapolis Colts, according to a source. His deal is expected to be for three years and $12 million, with $7.5 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: Gore switched course last minute and spurned the Philadelphia Eagles for the Colts and Andrew Luck. Trent Richardson is out of the picture in Indy's backfield, and Gore will likely split time with Daniel "boom" Herron behind Luck in 2015. Gore has reached 1,000 yards rushing in eight of the last nine seasons, and he can still be productive at his advanced age. However, because he's likely sharing touches, he shouldn't be considered anything more than a low-end RB2 or safer RB3.

Colts | Frank Gore to visit Colts

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 09:12:02 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore is traveling to visit with the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday, March 10, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gore spurned the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday and looks primed to sign with the Colts now. It'll be a much better situation for him behind one of the game's best young quarterbacks. Gore will likely split the workload in the backfield, though, and he profiles best as an RB3 in fantasy drafts this year.

Eagles | Frank Gore spurns Eagles

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 06:17:29 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore has pulled out of a potential deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Gore told friends Sunday, March 8, he planned to sign with the Eagles, but he changed his mind and could land with the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Gore didn't seem best served in Philly's offense schematically for fantasy purposes. Wherever he lands, he's a very low-end RB2 or a decent RB3.

Colts | Indy may still be in mix for Frank Gore

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 16:01:09 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore could still be an option for the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Gore was believed to be signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he may look at the other options available to him. Gore probably would be the Colts' starting running back if signs with them and likely would be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues.

Eagles | Frank Gore unsure about joining Philly?

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 15:59:38 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore is reconsidering his decision to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Gore likely would receive a majority of the carries if he joins the Eagles, but the Eagles have other running backs on their roster that would be involved. Gore should be a starting option no matter which team he signs with and probably will be a No. 2 running back in fantasy drafts next season.

Eagles | PHI expected to land Frank Gore

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 13:37:29 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore has told people he plans to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles this week, according to multiple league sources.

Fantasy Tip: Gore has rushed for at least 1,000 yards in each of the last four seasons and appears poised to become Philadelphia's first-string running back. He is likely to be a No. 2 fantasy running back who can be had during the middle rounds of most drafts.

Colts | Frank Gore receiving interest from Indy

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 10:59:32 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore is receiving interest from the Indianapolis Colts, and Gore is believed to have interest in the Colts, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Gore probably would take over the starting job if he decides to sign with the Colts. He has rushed for at least 1,000 yards in each of the last four seasons but did see his touchdowns drop from nine to four this past season. Gore likely would be a No. 2 running back for owners next season.

Eagles | Philly pursuing Frank Gore

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 09:23:18 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore is receiving interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, and a deal could be finalized as early as Tuesday, March 10, according to source.

Fantasy Tip: Gore likely would be the team's starting running back if he signs with the Eagles and could be part of the passing game as well. Gore probably would be selected in the middle rounds of drafts and could be a starting option most weeks.

49ers | Frank Gore contract talks underway

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 14:09:34 -0800

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore's representation is engaged in contract negotiations with the team, 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula said at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine. Tomsula and 49ers general manager Trent Baalke agreed that re-signing their own talent was a priority.

Fantasy Tip: Gore may still have a little bit left in the tank for fantasy owners, but investing anything more than a midround selection is a risky proposition. Treat him as a modest RB3, at best, if he returns to the 49ers.

49ers | Frank Gore won't be tagged

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 10:15:40 -0800

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore could re-sign with the club, but the Niners have zero interest in using the $10 million-plus franchise tag on an aging running back.

Fantasy Tip: Gore is nearing the end of his illustrious career, and we could easily see him signing elsewhere to finish off his great career. Either way, he'll likely be used as running back depth, and the same can be said about his fantasy value.

49ers | Frank Gore still uncertain on future

Mon, 16 Feb 2015 11:51:03 -0800

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore still isn't sure if team management wants him back for next season. "If they want to bring me back, they will," Gore said. "We'll sit down; see what they want me to do. See what my role is and if I like it, I'll sign. If I don't, I'll try to see what other teams think of me."

Fantasy Tip: Gore could very well be on his way out of San Francisco with second-year Carlos Hyde chomping at the bit for a starting role. Gore seems to be over the hill at this point in his career and had his lowest amount of rushing touchdowns (4) since 2010, though he still eclipsed 1,100 rushing yards.

NFL | Frank Gore wants to win, reach 1k again

Mon, 16 Feb 2015 06:07:05 -0800

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Frank Gore wants to land in a situation where he can have another 1,000-yard season and a chance to win the Super Bowl, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: If Gore gets his first wish, he'll be a low-end RB3 without a lot of upside.

49ers | Frank Gore wants to stay in SF

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 14:15:59 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore said he would like to return to the team next season. Gore is the franchise's all-time leading rusher, and he needs just 38 yards in Week 17 against the Arizona Cardinals to reach his fourth straight 1,000-yard season and eighth in 10 seasons. Gore said he hasn't had talks with the front office about returning next year, but general manager Trent Baalke said there is mutual interest in keeping him around.

Fantasy Tip: After a great Week 16, Gore ($5,555) faces an Arizona team that has been stout against the run all year long. That makes Gore a candidate to disappoint FantasyScore owners.

49ers | Frank Gore will play Saturday

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:48:33 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion) will play Saturday, Dec. 20, against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Gore ($4,900) is still a risky play against a Chargers defense that has only allowed five rushing touchdowns to running backs all year.

49ers | Frank Gore questionable

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 14:34:40 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 19, and is questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Gore is not a strong play in FantasyScore even if he can get on the field. You should look for other options for your roster this week.

49ers | Frank Gore knows the end is near

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 10:17:52 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season, knows that these next two games with the team are likely to be his last. "I've been here 10 years and it could be last two games here this year," Gore said. "It's weird knowing that I won't be under contract any more. But I've been in the league long enough to understand it's a business." Gore could post his eighth 1,000-yard season if he gains 196 yards in the final two games.

Fantasy Tip: Gore's fantasy football value is on its last legs, as well; he's unlikely to be a featured back wherever he lands next. As far as this week against the San Diego Chargers, it looks like he'll play after suffering a concussion last week, but he's a weaker FantasyScore flex play, and only if Carlos Hyde isn't playing.

49ers | Frank Gore on track to play?

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:53:47 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion) continues through the concussion protocol this week, but head coach Jim Harbaugh anticipates Gore suiting up in Week 16 against the San Diego Chargers Saturday, Dec. 20. Gore was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 18, after sitting out Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Gore ($4,900) isn't a strong FantasyScore play while coming off a concussion, but with Carlos Hyde not expected to play barring a miracle, it gives Gore's fantasy value some legs. However, he's probably not worth anything more than a flex spot in daily leagues.

49ers | Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree limited

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 14:41:00 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion) and WR Michael Crabtree (back) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Gore ($4,900) is going through the concussion protocol and should be able to play this week, though he's not an attractive option on FantasyScore as the San Diego Chargers have allowed just five rushing touchdowns to running backs this year. Crabtree ($4,300) also looks like he'll be able to play after missing practice yesterday but has been a season-long bust and is best left out of starting lineups.

49ers | Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde sit out

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 15:56:25 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RBs Frank Gore (concussion) and Carlos Hyde (ankle) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($4,800) needs a miracle to play against the San Diego Chargers this weekend, and Gore ($4,900) must be cleared from the concussion protocol on a short week. Neither running back is a good investment at FantasyScore this weekend. Alfonso Smith ($3,000) would see an increased workload if neither Gore nor Hyde play, but you should ignore Smith.

49ers | Frank Gore visits doctor

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 11:37:29 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion) visited with a doctor at the team's facility Tuesday, Dec. 16, as part of the NFL's concussion protocol. Gore did not participate in practice, and must pass the designated steps to be cleared for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Gore is a risky play this week and should be avoided in FantasyScore, even if he can get on the practice field. Carlos Hyde would likely get most of the work if Gore can't go, and will cost $4,800. Check back as the week goes on to get a better idea of what the 49ers backfield will look like this week.

49ers | Frank Gore done for the day

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 15:13:35 -0800

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion) suffered a concussion in the second quarter of the Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks and he will not return.

Fantasy Tip: With Gore done, it will be Carlos Hyde shouldering the load down the stretch, with perhaps Alfonso Smith or Bruce Miller also factoring in.

49ers | Frank Gore has head injury

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 14:48:46 -0800

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (head) has been taken to the locker room in the first half of the Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks to be evaluated for a head injury.

Fantasy Tip: If Gore cannot return, Carlos Hyde would likely be leaned upon the heaviest for backfield touches.

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (undisclosed) left the Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks in the second quarter. He suffered an undisclosed injury while attempting a block.

Fantasy Tip: The exact nature of his injury is not good, but he was down for a few moments and the game stopped. We'll keep looking for details as they unfold.

49ers | Frank Gore getting stagnant

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 11:41:37 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore averaged 5.3 yards on 12 carries in the team's Week 14 loss to the Oakland Raiders, and the team called 38 passing plays against just 14 carries. "It's hard to get in a rhythm," Gore said. "As players, you have to be in a rhythm on the field to be successful. And it's been tough all year to get in a rhythm."

Fantasy Tip: The Niners offense is clearly in a state of disarray, and their playoffs hopes have faded quickly. They've gotten away from the run game as their true identity, in part because of a suspect offensive line. This has hurt Gore ($4,900) tremendously, and he's no longer a good daily option, especially against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.

49ers | Frank Gore probable on Thanksgiving

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 14:51:27 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 26, and is probable for Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Gore's injury is minor, so he'll play against the Seahawks. Believe it or not, Seattle's run defense has been vulnerable this year, so Gore could surprise some folks at FantasyScore. He'll cost you $5,700 if you're willing to take the chance.

49ers | Frank Gore practices in full

Tue, 25 Nov 2014 18:52:38 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (knee) was able to take part in a full practice session Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Gore is expected to be ready to play, but he has a difficult matchup on a short week against the Seattle Seahawks, a team which ranks sixth in the NFL in rushing defense by allowing just 88.4 yard per game. FantasyScore owners would be wise to avoid this matchup.

49ers | Frank Gore limited at practice

Mon, 24 Nov 2014 20:00:34 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (knee) was a limited participant in practice Monday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: There is no reason to expect Gore to miss the team's Week 13 game Thursday, Nov. 27, at this point. Seattle surprisingly has been very vulnerable to opposing ground games this year, so Gore could have room to run, but his injury concerns make him a bit risky at FantasyScore for a price of $5,700.

49ers | Frank Gore will play in Week 11

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 13:13:20 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (hip) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 14, and is probable for Week 11 against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Gore ($5,700) is an acceptable play for your FantasyScore lineups against the Giants this weekend. The Niners were back to their run-first ways last weekend and were successful, so expect them to stick to their guns against a mediocre defensive squad.

Thu, 13 Nov 2014 15:26:53 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (hip) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 13, after being limited Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: The Niners were back on track with the running game last week, and Gore was the main beneficiary. That could easily continue in Week 11 against the New York Giants' mediocre defense. Gore costs $5,700 at FantasyScore.

Wed, 12 Nov 2014 18:50:52 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (hip) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Gore has typically rested during mid-week practices to get ready, but he has not missed any game time. FantasyScore owners will like Gore's matchup this week, as he faces the NFL's worst-ranked rushing defense. The Giants allow 144.7 yards per game on the ground and an NFL-worst 13 rushing touchdowns.

49ers | Frank Gore not being used in red zone

Sat, 08 Nov 2014 15:21:44 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore has one touch inside the red zone in the last five games.

Fantasy Tip: Gore ($5,500; 11.0% of cap) has frustrated owners through several good matchups waiting for him to break out. He has another solid matchup against the New Orleans Saints this week, but we'd probably steer toward options with better upside on FantasyScore.

49ers | Frank Gore will play versus Saints

Fri, 07 Nov 2014 14:47:35 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (hip) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 7, and is probable for Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints have been a good matchup for running backs this year, but Gore ($6,100) has struggled behind a poor offensive line this year, making him a weak FantasyScore lineup selection in a running back spot.

49ers | Frank Gore limited Thursday

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 16:38:05 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (hip) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: To say that Gore has been struggling lately, partly thanks to an underachieving offensive line, would be an extreme understatement as he has totaled just 107 yards in his last three games. It might be best to stay away at a price of $5,500 on FantasyScore.

Wed, 05 Nov 2014 17:32:30 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (hip) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Gore should be fine for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, but check back Friday for the official injury report. At $5,500 (or 11.0 percent of the salary cap), he could be a solid value as an RB2 or flex option in FantasyScore leagues.

49ers | Frank Gore seeing more rest

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 16:55:16 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore has 77 carries through five games, his fewest since head coach Jim Harbaugh took over as head coach. Gore had 78 carries through five games last season, 79 carries through five games in 2012, and 94 in 2011.

Fantasy Tip: While he might be seeing slightly fewer carries, he is making the most of his playing time and he appears to be fresher as a result of the rest. He remains a potent option for FantasyScore owners at $6600 or 13.2 percent of the salary cap.

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 06:58:33 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore has started 49 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak for running backs.

Fantasy Tip: Good for him - a player that was dogged by knee injuries in college. Even better for him, he has a good matchup against the St. Louis Rams in Week 6. Gore ($6,600; 13.2% of your cap) is a good RB2 on FantasyScore this week.

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 16:45:16 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (back) was able to practice in full Friday, Oct. 3, and he is listed as probable for the Week 5 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Gore is a good start in FantasyScore at $6500 (or 13 percent of the salary cap) against the 18th ranked rush defense in the NFL. Kansas City allows 116.0 yards per game on the ground, including three runs of 20 or more yards, although they have not given up a rushing score through four games.

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 17:42:30 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (back) was able to take part in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1, as a full participant.

Fantasy Tip: Gore was a workhorse in Week 4, and he is a fantastic RB2 or flex fantasy play in most formats heading into Week 5.

49ers | Frank Gore set to shoulder load?

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 17:36:27 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore had a season-high 24 carries in Week 4, and WR Anquan Boldin said that making sure Gore saw plenty of touches was the game plan from the start. "That was our mindset, just getting him back on the ball and getting him touches, making sure we controlled the line of scrimmage," Boldin said.

Fantasy Tip: After the success the 49ers had in Week 4 with Gore as the focal point of the offense, there is a good Gore will continue to see plenty of carries in the coming weeks. Don't forget about the veteran back at FantasyScore in Week 5 with San Francisco set to face a Kansas City defense ranked 24th against the run after three games.

49ers | Frank Gore used heavily

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 09:38:22 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore ran for 119 yards in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 Sunday, Sept. 28, and he also had a career-long 55-yard touchdown catch in the game. Gore had 24 carries in the game for an average of five yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: After barely being involved in the team's Week 3 loss, the Niners got back to their success on the ground against the Eagles. When Gore sees enough touches, he's at least a flex play for your fantasy lineups. This week against the Kansas City Chiefs, he could be primed for another productive day.

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 15:16:55 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (back) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 26, and is probable for Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Gore had just six carries for 10 yards in Week 3, and he didn't even catch a pass. Sunday against the Eagles should present the Niners with a great opportunity to get the ground game going again. However, Carlos Hyde will continue to eat into Gore's workload. Gore is probably a flex option, at best.

49ers | Frank Gore not happy with offense

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 10:43:42 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore wasn't pleased with the offensive game plan in which they unleashed five-receiver sets against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3 because of a lack of healthy tight ends. The receiver-heavy look didn't feature a running back, and the Niners went with a no-huddle offense. QB Colin Kaepernick's 78.4 completion percentage (29-for-37) was his best as a starter. Gore had just one carry in the second half and finished with six rushes for just 10 yards. RB Carlos Hyde had three carries for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: This approach won't always be the game plan. Expect a more balanced focus on offense with Vernon Davis (ankle) returns to the starting lineup. However, Gore's involvement should be monitored. If he continues to lose touches, he probably won't be much more than a flex play.
