Cardinals | Aledmys Diaz not playing

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 14:04:49 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Aledmys Diaz (eye) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 28. SS Greg Garcia is starting at shortstop and is batting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura. Also, 1B Brandon Moss is starting in left field and is hitting second with OF Matt Holliday serving as the designated hitter in an American League park.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia carries little fantasy value despite his .415/.547/.610 slash line in 41 at-bats because of very limited playing time. Garcia also has very little power to speak of and is one to avoid in DFS because he's hitting ninth. All 16 of Moss' homers have come against righties and the two-hole makes him more attractive to daily gamers tonight.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday will be DH again

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 12:26:14 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday will serve as the designated hitter against Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton Sunday, June 26. 2B Kolten Wong will start in left field and is batting eighth, while OF Tommy Pham will start in center field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Wong has been productive at the plate recently and has a .294 batting average over the last seven days. He should be a decent player in some daily fantasy leagues. Pham is hitting only .167 so far this season and is not a great option.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday will be DH

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 16:51:48 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday will serve as the designated hitter against Seattle Mariners SP Wade LeBlanc Friday, June 24. 1B Brandon Moss will start in left field, while 1B Matt Adams will start at first base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Adams has only one hit over the last six games but should still have some value in deeper mixed leagues. Holliday and Moss should be starter in most fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday takes a seat

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:33:22 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday is out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22, with 1B Matt Adams hitting third.

Fantasy Tip: Adams is 6-for-18 (.333) with four RBI in his career against Jake Arrieta. It's a tough matchup, but he has upside in the three-hole.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday connects on 13th home run

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 20:42:45 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday homered for the fourth time in his last nine games on Tuesday, June 21, blasting a two-run home run off Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel.

Fantasy Tip: Although Holliday isn't carrying the same average he used to, he has 13 homers - more than triple his home run output from his injury-plagued the 2015 campaign (four). The 36-year-old has knocked in 40 runs as well, making his .253 average a bit more palatable. Holliday does his best work against right-handers (.268, eight home runs and 24 RBI entering Tuesday's action), so he is worth using in daily leagues when that is the case.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday, June 11.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday's batting average has slipped this season, but he is still providing solid power numbers and should be starting in all formats.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday out of the lineup

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 11:25:41 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday is out of the lineup Wednesday, June 8, with 1B Matt Adams hitting third. OF Brandon Moss took Holliday's spot in left field, and he's hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Adams has hit safely in seven straight, and he's hitting .331 on the year. He's an enhanced DFS option against Alfredo Simon. Moss is an all-or-nothing option for his power.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday has big game Monday

Mon, 30 May 2016 17:08:25 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI Monday, May 30, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He also hit his ninth home run of the year.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday's season has mostly been lackluster, but he's starting to heat up, as this was his third straight multi-hit game. He's also homered twice within that span. The 36-year-old is proving that he is indeed still a useful asset in fantasy.

Cardinals | Brandon Moss starting vs. Washington

Thu, 26 May 2016 13:45:48 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Brandon Moss is starting in left field and batting fifth against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Thursday, May 26. OF Matt Holliday is not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Moss is a low-end option in the majority of seasonal leagues because he isn't receiving consistent at-bats, and of his eight home runs, two were pinch-hit bombs. He is a viable option in daily contests Thursday, but you'll likely be able to find a better price-matchup combo. Make sure to avoid Holliday in all fantasy formats Thursday.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday out of the lineup

Sun, 22 May 2016 11:06:19 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke Sunday, May 22. OF Brandon Moss will start in left field and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Moss has only one hit in his last seven games, so owners should be able to find better options to use in their starting lineups.
