Dodgers | Yasiel Puig could lead off

Mon, 03 Feb 2014 15:33:19 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly admitted that he will consider using OF Yasiel Puig in the leadoff spot this season. Puig had a .391 on-base percentage last year, which was second on the team. Puig was in the leadoff spot for 28 games last year and had a slash line of .333/.409/.618 with eight of his 19 home runs.

Mon, 21 Oct 2013 13:21:00 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is unsure if he will return next season even after his $1.4 million option for the 2014 season vested with the team's series win over the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series. "When you're put in this situation, the organization basically says, 'We don't know if you can manage or not,'" Mattingly said. "So, that's the position I've been in all season long, so that's not a great position for me as a manager. That's the way it is, that's the way the organization wanted it last year, that's fine." General manager Ned Colletti said the issue will be "resolved very quickly."
