Dodgers | Zack Greinke pushed back

Wed, 20 Aug 2014 17:46:51 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) has been pushed back to start Saturday, Aug. 23, against the New York Mets, as manager Don Mattingly gives him a couple of extra days to rest his tender elbow. The injury is not believed to be serious, and Mattingly said an MRI two weeks ago showed similar irritation to what Greinke had in spring training 2013.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners in daily leagues and those which allow daily transactions might want to keep Greinke reserved to let him prove his health. He could very well work with restrictions or suffer a setback, so play it safe.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke still on for Thursday

Tue, 19 Aug 2014 22:22:38 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) is still listed as the probable pitcher for Thursday, Aug. 21, against the San Diego Padres. He has been dealing with soreness in his elbow. Manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday, Aug. 19, that P Carlos Frias would start Thursday if Greinke is unable to go.

Fantasy Tip: We'll monitor Greinke's status and update you if he is unable to make his start. Daily fantasy owners would be well served not to risk it, as he might be working with restrictions if he can make the start.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke might come back early

Tue, 06 May 2014 19:17:20 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday, May 6, that SP Zack Greinke and the coaching staff have been talking about when Greinke would make his next start. He was limited to just three innings Monday, May 5, against the Washington Nationals due to a 3-hour, 17-minute rain delay. "He's lobbying. There's some conversations going (on) about possibly doing some different thing (than having him work on normal rest)," Mattingly said.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw not worried

Thu, 27 Mar 2014 08:27:43 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (back) doesn't think the teres muscle issue in his back is serious, and he expects to simply push his start back instead of miss it. "It's just one start that has to be pushed back. It's definitely something that if I had to pitch tomorrow, I could probably do it. It just wouldn't feel great," Kershaw said. SPs Hyun-Jin Ryu and Dan Haren are the candidates to replace Kershaw Sunday, March 30, against the San Diego Padres. SP Zack Greinke is scheduled to start Tuesday, April 1, and will not be moved up.

Fantasy Tip: Kershaw should be expected to make a start at some point next week, so you shouldn't be worried about leaving him in your weekly lineups.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke stretching out

Tue, 25 Mar 2014 14:46:17 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (calf) said he is 100 percent healed from his right calf strain, and he'll make a spring start Thursday, March 27, although his pitch count isn't quite where it needs to be for a regular season game. He made 72 pitches in his start over the weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Greinke should be fine and ready to make his first start of the season next week after another spring outing. Greinke represented pretty great value in most drafts while he was dealing with his calf injury for most of the spring.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (calf) worked four scoreless innings with one hit allowed in a minor-league game Monday, March 17. He threw 32 of his 42 pitches for strikes.

Fantasy Tip: Greinke had been slowed by a calf issue, but he looked dominant in this performance. For now, he appears healthy heading into the regular season and is a must-start in all fantasy formats.

Fri, 14 Mar 2014 13:41:57 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (calf) threw a bullpen session Friday, March 14, and continued to make progress from his mild calf strain. He could pitch in a minor league game Monday, March 17, and he could be an "exempt" player who could be added to the 25-man roster if the Dodgers think he'll be ready to pitch in the team's second series of the year against the San Diego Padres.
