Phillies | Ryan Howard crushing at Coors Field

Thu, 21 May 2015 18:16:18 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies Thursday, May 21, and he is hitting .395 in his last nine games at Coors Field.

Fantasy Tip: Although Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) may have been helped by Colorado's hitter friendly park, he has been solid in May in general. He is hitting .325 with five home runs, and he has nice upside for the price at FantasyScore thanks to his power.

Phillies | Ryan Howard having solid May

Thu, 21 May 2015 00:49:21 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is hitting .328 (21-for-64) in May with four home runs and 10 RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) looks the best he has in four years, ever since that fateful Achilles tear in the 2011 National League Championship Series. At this lower price, he is definitely worth putting in your lineup.

Phillies | Ryan Howard sitting

Sun, 17 May 2015 08:45:27 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard isn't in the lineup Sunday, May 17, against the Arizona Diamondbacks and RHP Josh Collmenter. 1B Darin Ruf will start at first and bat cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has hit just .132 off righties this season, in 57 plate appearances. FantasyScore owners need to ignore Ruf completely.

Phillies | Ryan Howard snaps skid

Thu, 14 May 2015 19:20:08 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in a 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, May 14, snapping a 0-for-9 stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is hitting just .230 this year, but he still has some upside against right-handed pitchers thanks to his power. He should be considered a high-risk, high-reward play at FantasyScore.

Phillies | Ryan Howard out Saturday

Sat, 09 May 2015 12:31:53 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup against the New York Mets Saturday, May 9. 1B/OF Darin Ruf will start at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Despite hitting a go-ahead home run Friday, May 8, Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will find himself riding the pine Saturday because the Phils are facing left-handed SP Jon Niese. He had been on a hot streak recently, batting .364 this month and .421 over his last 10 games.

Phillies | Ryan Howard sitting out

Mon, 04 May 2015 12:43:45 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) likely is sitting out since the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Darin Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will start at first base but is not a great option for FantasyScore.

Phillies | Ryan Howard can veto any trade

Sat, 02 May 2015 10:33:35 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard has gained 10-and-5 rights, meaning that he has accrued 10 years of service time at the major league level, the last five of which have been with the same team. This means that if the Phillies want to trade Howard, he will have to give his permission first and he can reject any deal.

Fantasy Tip: Given his lack of production and the amount of money remaining on his current contract, Howard ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) was difficult to move even before this clause kicked in. He is only batting .187 with four home runs and 10 RBIs through 21 games this season and is still owed $60 million.

Phillies | Ryan Howard at cleanup

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 10:25:59 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is hitting cleanup against a left-handed starter Thursday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($2,600, 5.2% of your cap) connected on a long ball yesterday, but he hit just .200 from 2012-2014 against lefties. We'd pass on FantasyScore today, but he could present a great value against righties.

Phillies | Ryan Howard crushes Cards again

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 22:51:46 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard, batting out of the fifth spot of the order, went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Wednesday, April 29, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He has 20 home runs and 39 RBIs in 33 career games against the Cardinals, with 11 homers coming in his hometown of St. Louis.

Fantasy Tip: At just $2,600 (or 5.2% of cap) Howard can still be a huge bargain for FantasyScore players, especially when his team pulls into his hometown again.

Phillies | Ryan Howard finding power stroke

Sun, 26 Apr 2015 17:30:13 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves Sunday, April 26, and all three of his home runs this season have come in his last five games.

Fantasy Tip: After managing just two RBIs in his first 11 games, Howard ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has seven in his last five games. He could keep the momentum going when Philadelphia opens up a series against St. Louis Monday, April 27. He is hitting .362 in 57 career games against the Cardinals and offers nice upside for the price at FantasyScore.
