Mariners | Corey Hart to remain at cleanup

Mon, 14 Apr 2014 17:57:48 -0700

Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Monday, April 14, that 1B-OF Corey Hart will likely serve as the club's primary cleanup hitter for now.

Fantasy Tip: Hart has struggled average-wise so far this season, so fantasy owners in rotisserie formats might want to keep him reserved until he starts hitting.

Mariners | Corey Hart not expected to play OF soon

Mon, 14 Apr 2014 13:59:11 -0700

Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said OF Corey Hart won't be playing the outfield anytime soon.

Fantasy Tip: This could be because the team doesn't feel Hart can stay healthy playing the outfield consistently. He's expected to continue seeing everyday at-bats, though, just at designated hitter for the forseeable future.

Mariners | Corey Hart rested

Mon, 07 Apr 2014 08:48:56 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Corey Hart had the day off again Sunday, April 6, as the team looks to keep him fresh early in the season. He'll have had two days off heading into the game Tuesday, April 8.

Fantasy Tip: With all the options the Mariners have for the outfield and designated hitter spots, it's tough for Hart to find consistent playing time while the team attempts to take it easy on him. For that reason, it's tough to keep him in your lineup consistently unless you're in a very deep mixed or AL-only league.

Mariners | Corey Hart held out

Mon, 24 Mar 2014 13:37:27 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Corey Hart (forearm) was held out for the fourth straight day Monday, March 24, with stiffness in his right forearm.

Fantasy Tip: After missing all of last year with two knee surgeries, Hart hasn't exactly put injuries in the rearview this spring, as he's dealt with a few nagging ailments that have kept him out of action. He's a risk, especially if the M's want him playing mostly outfield.

Mariners | Stefen Romero survives wave of cuts

Wed, 19 Mar 2014 18:35:27 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Stefen Romero is one of six remaining outfielders in camp for the team after the latest cuts. With OFs Dustin Ackley, Corey Hart, Michael Saunders and Abraham Almonte appearing to be locks, it looks like the final battle will be between Romero and Endy Chavez. Romero might have a leg up since he is already on the 40-man roster, and no one would have to be removed, as is the case with Chavez. Romero has also started to take grounders in the infield, trying to be more versatile to help his cause.

Mariners | Corey Hart not worried by lack of production

Wed, 19 Mar 2014 15:09:38 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Corey Hart isn't worried that he has only four hits in 31 spring at-bats and one extra-base hit in 11 contests. He's also struck out 16 times. "It's always been a process for me to find a comfort level and timing at the plate in spring training," he said. "I told them coming in, 'Don't expect a lot because it's going to take a little while to figure out what I'm doing.'" Hart said his knees are healthy, he's just working to get his timing down at the plate. The M's plan to be careful with Hart, but manager Lloyd McClendon sees Hart playing 145 games or more in right field this year.

Fantasy Tip: If Hart can remain healthy and stay in the outfield, he could be one of the best late-round steals in drafts this year. Don't expect him to come out guns blazing, though.
