Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald falls off in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:45:19 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald caught three passes for 21 yards in a 16-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: The question among a lot of people after the game was why didn't Carson Palmer target Fitzgerald more often? This was a deep dropoff for Fitzgerald and definitely disappointed his fantasy owners. You may want to leave Fitzgerald in flex status for the time being, as the Dallas Cowboys are up next in Week 3 on Monday Night Football. See how he does in that game.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald leads way with 13 targets

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 16:31:25 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald posted six receptions for 74 yards on a game-high 13 targets in Week 1 on the road against the Lions.

Fantasy Tip: People keep trying to write the aging veteran off and he just keeps on producing. As long as he can stay healthy Fitzgerald should still be treated as a PPR WR2/3 or flex fantasy play heading into Week 2 in Indianapolis.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald practices in full

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 13:24:20 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) practiced in full for the second consecutive day on Friday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald, like many veterans, was held out of Wednesday's practice to rest. You can expect this to be the norm for the wideout as he is preserved for late-week practices and games. He is a solid WR3 or flex option heading into Week 1 against the Lions.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald back on the field

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 14:24:26 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald probably will receive more practices off during the season to make sure he stays fresh and should continue to be a solid option for fantasy owners. He should be considered at least a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues this week.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald not on practice field

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 15:02:10 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Larry Fitzgerald (rest) was not at practice Wednesday, Sept. 6, but his absence was not injury related.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Bruce Arians was apparently resting his key veterans in preparation for the regular season opener in Detroit. The 34-year-old receiver showed last season he still has plenty left in the tank and he remains a viable low-end WR1 or must-start WR2 in most fantasy formats.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald wants a title

Sun, 23 Jul 2017 17:32:54 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald said Sunday, July 23, that the only reason he is still playing is to "chase a championship."

Fantasy Tip: There has been speculation that Fitzgerald could retire after the year, and if the Cardinals aren't competitive, it sounds like that could be the case. As far as this season goes, Fitzgerald is still a WR2 candidate, especially in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald out of HOF game

Sat, 22 Jul 2017 18:40:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald will be held out of the Hall-of-Fame game against the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Aug. 3, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: The veteran has nothing to gain by playing in the preseason contest. He led the NFL in receptions last year, so the veteran still has plenty to offer fantasy owners. He has a save floor and should deliver WR2 production.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald effective from slot

Thu, 06 Jul 2017 18:40:10 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald finished tied for second in the NFL last season with 63 catches from the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald led the NFL in total receptions last year, and his ability to line up all over the field should help the veteran remain effective. He is a high-floor WR3 with WR2 potential in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald to address future at camp

Mon, 22 May 2017 21:08:22 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald said Monday, May 22, he plans on addressing his post-2017 future once during training camp and won't talk about it anymore after that.

Fantasy Tip: No matter what his decision is, the 33-year-old will be on the field for the upcoming season and if last year is any indication, he still has plenty left in the tank. Fitzgerald notched his fourth-career campaign with 100 or more catches (107) and eighth-career 1,000-yard season (1,023) in 2016, and as a result, should still be viewed as a WR2 fantasy option going into training camp.

Cardinals | Big things expected from Chad Williams

Fri, 12 May 2017 19:04:36 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams is considered someone who can "carry the torch" once WR Larry Fitzgerald decides to retire, according to offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin.

Fantasy Tip: Williams probably won't contribute a lot this year, but he could find himself with a much bigger role in the offense as soon as 2018. He should be owned in all keeper formats.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald putting off retirement

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 19:13:27 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald announced Wednesday, Feb. 1, that he is "definitely" returning for a 14th season and play out the final year of his contract in 2017, according to ESPN's Jim Trotter.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald's return at least gives Arizona a fighting chance to remain competitive in 2017 while the team continues to develop its young talent at receiver. Fitzgerald's second-half fades over the last two years will continue to be a concern entering his age-34 season, but it's hard to complain too much about a receiver who has proven 100-catch upside and will likely be available in the middle rounds in fantasy drafts again this summer.

Cardinals | Bruce Arians expects stars back in '17

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 18:52:39 -0800

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians expects both QB Carson Palmer and WR Larry Fitzgerald to return in 2017. He feels "comfortable with where they're at" and added, "I think when the juices start flowing and the injuries go away, they'll both be back. But there's nothing to confirm yet."

Fantasy Tip: At this point early into Arizona's offseason, it's still unknown if both stars plan on continuing their respective careers. Fitzgerald is 33 years old and coming off his eighth 1,000-yard season, so there is certainly no doubt that he can still play at an elite level, which could point to him returning. Palmer, 37, isn't as much a sure bet to come back, especially after somewhat of a down campaign, but Arians hinted that one's decision could affect the other, so the early indication is both will keep playing in '17.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald could call it a career

Sun, 29 Jan 2017 12:50:02 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald reportedly told friends in September he expected 2016 to be his last season. He has yet to make a definitive decision one way or the other, but when asked about his future last offseason, the 10-time Pro Bowler told KMVP-FM "a lot of it's tied to Carson (Palmer)."

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald is 33 and led the NFL with 107 receptions this season, so while he wouldn't be leaving the game in his prime, he would be doing so despite transforming himself into one of the league's top slot receivers in recent years. With Palmer also pondering retirement, expect Arizona to target receiver early in April's NFL Draft. If Fitzgerald retires, John Brown, J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown, who is recovering from a torn ACL, would be the Cardinals' top receivers as things stand at the moment.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald led NFL in receptions

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 17:49:03 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald finished the 2016 season with 107 receptions, which was the most in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald has finished each of the last two seasons with at least 100 catches and has accomplished the feat four times in his career. He may consider retirement this offseason, so owners will need to monitor his situation. Fitzgerald can be considered a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues if he decides to play in 2017.

Cardinals | Bruce Arians won't push Larry Fitzgerald

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 20:05:43 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald hasn't committed to playing in 2017, and head coach Bruce Arians said he won't try to convince Fitzgerald to return because the decision to play should be his call.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald led the NFL with 107 catches this season, so there is no question he can still produce. If he returns, he is a WR2 candidate with added value in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald won't alter preparation

Tue, 03 Jan 2017 20:45:20 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald indicated he won't make any changes to his offseason approach heading into the 2017 season. Now 33, Fitzgerald has yet to fully commit to playing next year.

Fantasy Tip: There's obviously plenty of time for all this to get sorted out over the next several months, but coming off a 107-1,023-6 campaign it certainly appears Fitzgerald has something left in the tank.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald should play

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 15:11:06 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald has been receiving plenty of targets over the past month but has been held to 31 yards or less in two of the last three games. He has also gone 10 games without a touchdown, which has hurt his fantasy value. Fitzgerald can still be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option because of his role in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald needs 20 yards in Week 17 to go over 1,000 yards for the eighth time in his career. He will face the Los Angeles Rams on the road in the regular season finale.

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 19:54:38 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) was a full participant in practice Friday, Dec. 16, and isn't listed on the Week 15 injury report.

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 18:45:24 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) returned to practice and was a full participant Thursday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: The release of Michael Floyd should further entrench Fitzgerald as the go-to option in the passing attack. He should be safe to deploy as a low-end WR2 against the Saints in Week 15.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald sits out

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 17:46:41 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald held down

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 17:19:52 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald posted three receptions for 12 yards in the Week 14 game against the Miami Dolphins. He was targeted a game-high nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald had 60 or more receiving yards in 10 of his 12 games this season, so this really hurt fantasy owners. He hasn't visited the end zone in eight games dating back to Oct. 6, so he should be treated more as a WR3 at this juncture of the fantasy season.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald has full practice

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 14:18:02 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) participated fully in practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a down year for the Cardinals, Fitz has shown his all-too familiar consistency. He does have more value in PPR leagues, but he should be considered a WR2 in both standard and PPR formats this week, especially with John Brown likely seeing limited snaps.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald may have slot shadow

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 05:24:24 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald may be shadowed in the slot by Washington Redskins CB Josh Norman in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Fitz is having a 78-802-5 season in what has validated his renaissance at age 33. The Redskins present a midrange matchup, and Fitzgerald is a solid WR2 this week.

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (not injury related) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: His status for Week 12 isn't even in doubt. And even though quarterback Carson Palmer has been trending down as of late, it hasn't messed with Fitzgerald's notable consistency, meaning he should remain in all fantasy starting lineups. The 33-year-old is also overdue to get back into the end zone, having not scored since Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals won't want to push Fitzgerald too hard. He may not practice this week, but that doesn't mean he won't play. If he is ruled out then Michael Floyd and John Brown will receive immediate boosts. Floyd, in particular, would be an intriguing play in daily formats even against a quality pass defense in the Minnesota Vikings.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald 'should be ready' Week 11

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 11:29:43 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (knee) is "sore", but head coach Bruce Arians is hopeful the veteran wideout can practice this week. Arians believes Fitzgerald will be available Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: The result of Fitzgerald's MRI have yet to be released, but it appears Arians believes Fitzgerald escaped Week 10 with serious injury. The veteran wideout reportedly told a San Francisco 49ers defender during Sunday's win that he "tore something", and he also missed time with a rib injury in addition to nearly falling on his head a bit later. Owners need to keep an eye on the 33-year-old, but they can breathe a sigh of relief for now. He remains a solid WR2.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald to have MRI

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 22:45:47 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (knee) said Sunday, Nov. 13, after the Week 10 game against the San Francisco 49ers that his knee was sore and he will have an MRI Monday, Nov. 14. Beat writer Kent Somers speculates he might have a sprained medial collateral ligament.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald left the game briefly, and it appears it was due to a neck or head injury. It turns out he tweaked his knee, too. We'll monitor the tests and injury report and let you know how to proceed heading into Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings. Michael Floyd and JJ Nelson would be the biggest beneficiaries if Fitz was forced to miss time.

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald pulled down 12 receptions for 133 yards on 18 targets in the Week 10 game against the San Francisco 49ers. It was his 42nd career 100-yard receiving game. He also became the third-youngest player in NFL history to reach 14,000 yards receiving, and he moved ahead of former 49ers WR Terrell Owens for sixth place on the all-time list for receptions.

Fantasy Tip: The reports of Fitzgerald's fantasy demise were greatly exaggerated, as he continues to be a productive player in all formats. He'll look to keep it cooking in Week 11 in Minnesota.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald listed as limited

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 18:00:26 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald had a week to recover from his ankle injury and should be able to play in Week 10. He has posted at least 70 yards in three of his last four games and has at least six catches in all of those games. He should be a fine No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in all leagues.

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) suffered a low ankle sprain in Week 8. Head coach Bruce Arians said Fitzgerald could practice next week and should play in Week 10 following the Cardinals' bye.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald has remained Carson Palmer's go-to man despite targets being stolen from John Brown, J.J. Nelson and Michael Floyd. Continue to view Fitzgerald as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2, assuming he doesn't aggravate the injury over the next two weeks.
