Braves | Gavin Floyd to undergo surgery

Tue, 24 Jun 2014 09:55:00 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Gavin Floyd (elbow) is slated to undergo surgery Wednesday, June 25, for his fractured right pitching elbow. His timetable will be based on how the bone heals.

Fantasy Tip: It's a career-threatening injury, but we'll know more in the coming months, perhaps year. This opens the door for Alex Wood to regain fantasy value, making him a pickup in nearly all eligible fantasy games.

Braves | Gavin Floyd to DL

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 11:07:41 -0700

The Atlanta Braves placed SP Gavin Floyd (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right elbow Friday, June 20, and recalled P Ryan Buchter from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Although the Braves haven't released a timetable for Floyd's return, they expect him to be back this season. However, it'll likely be an extended absence. This injury bodes well for the return of Alex Wood to the rotation. Look to jump ahead of the curve and add Wood in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.

Braves | To trade for reliever?

Mon, 09 Jun 2014 13:54:03 -0700

David O'Brien, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, believes the Atlanta Braves will look to trade for at least one relief pitcher in the coming weeks before the trade deadline. Atlanta is reluctant to trade a starting pitcher for a reliever, though, but SPs Aaron Harang or Gavin Floyd may be candidates to be shipped out. Floyd is more likely to be moved because of the way Harang has pitched this year. Also, Floyd has incentives that could raise his deal by $3 or $4 million.
