Braves | Jeff Francoeur back in lineup Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 07:54:53 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Jeff Francoeur is back in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Sunday, June 26, batting seventh and playing left field. In addition, C A.J. Pierzynski is batting sixth and starting behind the plate, while INF Chase d'Arnaud is batting eighth and playing shortstop. C Tyler Flowers and SS Erick Aybar are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud is batting .257 with five doubles and five RBI in 74 at-bats this month and could be a productive source of cap relief in DFS. Pierzynski is only batting .195 this month but is a lifetime .277 hitter versus Colon in 65 at-bats, with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI.

Braves | Erick Aybar out against the Mets

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 07:25:25 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 26. INF Chase d'Arnaud is starting at shortstop and batting eighth against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Aybar has turned it around in June with a .300/.391/.425 line, but it has only resulted in four runs and four RBI. He is a desperation starting option in deep formats. D'Arnaud offers little in the power department (.371 slugging percentage), but he sits with a .282 batting average and .360 on-base percentage, which makes him a viable depth piece in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Braves | Erick Aybar on a roll

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 09:07:47 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar is hitting .364 with four doubles, four RBI and a .481 on-base percentage in seven games since returning from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Aybar doesn't do much to fill stat sheets, but he's an NL-only commodity worth running out there.

Braves | Erick Aybar sitting vs. Reds

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 09:00:23 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 16. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting at the 6 and is hitting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Dan Straily.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud has limited offensive upside but has been hot at the plate recently, hitting .283 this month with four RBI in 53 at-bats. He's yet to homer, though, in parts of five major league seasons, so he profiles as more of a desperation daily selection, especially while hitting low in the order.

Braves | Erick Aybar returns to action

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 12:40:16 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar (ribs) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Aybar sat out last night after injuring his ribs in batting practice. He recently returned from a DL stint for another injury. In his two games back, Aybar is 2-for-7 (.286) with two doubles and an RBI. On the year, though, he hasn't done much (.187-0-7). Avoid him in DFS and keep him confined to middle infield depth in the deepest of NL leagues.

Braves | Erick Aybar scratched Tuesday

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 15:33:04 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar (ribs) was scratched from the starting lineup with bruised ribs Tuesday, June 14, after he was hit by a pitch Monday, June 13. 2B Jace Peterson is batting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Brandon Finnegan. X-rays on Aybar came back negative, and he's dealing with "just a bruise."

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is extremely limited offensively and is hitting just .231 with no home runs and four RBI in 52 at-bats this year. He draws a lefty on the hill, too, which should further eliminate him from a daily lineup spot.

Braves | Erick Aybar activated from disabled list

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 08:54:44 -0700

The Atlanta Braves have activated SS Erick Aybar (foot) from the 15-day disabled list. He is in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Sunday, June 12, batting eighth. In a corresponding move, INF Daniel Castro was optioned to Class AAA Gwinnett.

Fantasy Tip: Aybar is batting .182 with six RBI over 148 at-bats and is nothing more than middle infield depth for NL-only fantasy leagues at this stage of his career. He is basically serving as a veteran placeholder until either Dansby Swanson or Ozzie Albies is ready to take over the position on an everyday basis.

Braves | Erick Aybar close to returning

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 11:18:08 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar (foot) is days away from returning from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Aybar is more of a defensive specialist and had an ugly .182/.225/.209 slash line with no home runs, six RBI and two steals before his injury. He's basically just keeping the shortstop job warm for either Dansby Swanson or Ozzie Albies. Aybar is strictly a depth option in deep NL-only leagues.

Braves | Erick Aybar placed on disabled list

Sat, 28 May 2016 12:39:07 -0700

The Atlanta Braves have placed SS Erick Aybar (foot) on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised right foot. He was hit by a pitch from Miami Marlins SP Adam Conley in the fourth inning and left the game during the following inning. X-rays came back negative.

Fantasy Tip: Aybar was batting just .182 with four doubles and six RBI through 148 at-bats before getting injured. Daniel Castro is likely to see the bulk of the action at shortstop in his absence but he is not a great option in any fantasy format. Gordon Beckham and Chase d'Arnaud are also possibilities to receive time at short.

Braves | Several ATL regulars sitting out Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 10:16:52 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Ender Inciarte, SS Erick Aybar and INF Chase d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Wei-Yin Chen Saturday, May 28. OF Mallex Smith will bat leadoff and play center field, 3B Adonis Garcia will bat seventh and play the hot corner and INF Daniel Castro will bat eighth and play shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is batting .288 with two doubles, two triples, three home runs and eight RBI in 66 at-bats this month and makes a decent outfield option in NL-only and deep mixed leagues because of his speed. Garcia and Castro are batting a combined .180 (11-for-61) with two RBI this month and should be avoided in all fantasy formats.
