Twins | Ervin Santana takes another loss

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 04:58:23 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana surrendered five runs on 10 hits Tuesday, June 14, in a 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Santana, who is now 1-7 overall, has a 7.71 ERA in his last five losses.

Fantasy Tip: One word: No. Santana has pitched so poorly it won't be a surprise if he loses his spot in the rotation or simply gets designated for assignment once some of the Twins' younger arms are ready to go. Granted, Santana hasn't had much help from the Twins' shaky offense, but he hasn't contributed much either.

Twins | Ervin Santana looks for turnaround

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 23:20:29 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana takes the ball Thursday, June 9, against the Miami Marlins. He has lost his past three starts while allowing 14 runs over 16 2/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Santana is only worth a look in the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues right now, and he cannot be trusted in DFS even with a tempting low price tag.

Twins | Solid outing for Ervin Santana

Sat, 14 May 2016 17:51:21 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana allowed one run on five hits while walking one and striking out six over six innings in a win over the Cleveland Indians Saturday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: Santana has held opponents to three or fewer earned runs in every start this year, and he is worth a look in deeper mixed and AL-only formats.

Twins | Ervin Santana activated

Fri, 06 May 2016 11:26:53 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana (back) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 6. C J.R. Murphy was optioned to the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Santana is expected to start against the White Sox Saturday. He was sporting a 3.15 ERA in four starts this year and deserves to be rostered in deep mixed leagues. However, his first matchup back isn't a great one. Consider keeping him out a little longer.

Twins | Ervin Santana starting Saturday

Tue, 03 May 2016 14:43:45 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana (back) will return from the disabled list to start against the Chicago White Sox Saturday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Santana's return could mean Alex Meyer is bumped to the bullpen or back to the minors. The White Sox have the best record in the AL and are no slouches offensively, so you should certainly think twice before activating Santana and throwing him back into your starting lineups immediately.

Twins | Ervin Santana could return Saturday

Mon, 02 May 2016 15:20:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana (back) could come off the disabled list to face the Chicago White Sox Saturday, May 7, if he doesn't suffer any setbacks during a 30- or 40-pitch simulated game Tuesday, May 3.

Fantasy Tip: Santana, who is the Twins' ace of the staff, should've remained stashed in all formats after landing on the DL. You may want to keep him out in his first start back if it's against the White Sox this weekend, though. Chicago has been clicking to begin the year and are one of the more dangerous lineups in the AL.

Twins | Ervin Santana throwing sim game

Mon, 02 May 2016 14:00:42 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana (back) said he will throw a two-inning simulated game Tuesday, May 3.

Fantasy Tip: Santana could be back from the DL when he's eligible unless he suffers a setback, and he'll have a rotation spot to return to. He posted a 3.15 ERA and 8.1 strikeouts per nine innings in his first four starts of the year and should remain stashed in most fantasy leagues. Alex Meyer, Tyler Duffey or Jose Berrios could be in danger of losing their spots when Santana is ready.

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana (back) will travel with the team for the upcoming road trip against the Cleveland Indians, general manager Terry Ryan said Sunday, May 1.

Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana (back) is scheduled to have a light throwing session Saturday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Manager Paul Molitor said he expects Santana to be ready to come off the 15-day disabled list when eligible, but fantasy owners should avoid him until he can make it through a full start without any setbacks.

Twins | Ervin Santana, Kyle Gibson will be ready

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 11:03:05 -0700

Minnesota Twins SPs Ervin Santana (back) and Kyle Gibson (shoulder) are both expected to be ready to come off the disabled list when they are eligible, according to manager Paul Molitor. Santana is dealing with a lower back strain, while Gibson is suffering from a right shoulder strain.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson, who was 0-3 with a 6.10 ERA in four starts, could have his rotation spot in jeopardy if top pitching prospect Jose Berrios impresses in his opportunity. Gibson should only be stashed in deeper AL-only leagues, while Berrios could be universally owned if he lives up to his billing against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday.
