Former All-Star OF Lenny Dykstra was sentenced Monday, Dec. 3, to 6 1/2 months in prison for hiding baseball gloves and other heirlooms from his playing days that were supposed to be part of his bankruptcy filing, capping a tumultuous year of legal woes. U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson weighed Dykstra's battle with drugs and alcohol versus the crimes he committed and opted to give him a lenient prison term but saddled him with 500 hours of community service. He also ordered Dykstra to pay $200,000 in restitution.

Former New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies OF Lenny Dykstra blames drugs and alcohol for his lifestyle that resulted in a January sentencing for auto theft and his troubles with drugs and paraphernalia. "It happened because I was using drugs and alcohol," he said. "The way I lived my life helped me in baseball. But when you're spending $28,000 for a bottle of wine and liking it? Nothing was ever enough."

MLB | Lenny Dykstra convicted

Former Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets OF Lenny Dykstra was convicted of three counts of grand theft auto and filing a false financial statement after declining to challenge the charges in Los Angeles. Dykstra, 48, pleaded "no contest" in court Wednesday, Oct. 19, and faces as long as four years in state prison. He was released pending his sentencing on Jan. 20.

Former New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies OF Lenny Dykstra has been ordered to stand trial on car theft and drug possession charges. A judge said Friday, July 22, that the 48-year-old former baseball star will go to trial on 25 counts. If convicted, Dykstra faces up to 12 years in prison. He remains in jail.

Former MLB OF Lenny Dykstra allegedly confessed to using steroids during his playing days in a book called "The Zeroes: My Misadventures in the Decade Wall Street Went Insane." "You gotta understand, there were only 28 people who had my job in the whole world," Dykstra was referring to the fact that there were only 28 major league baseball teams (there are now 30), and that each only had one starting centerfielder. "And thousands of people wanted those jobs, and every year, there were guys trying to take my job."

ESPN.com reports former MLB OF Lenny Dykstra has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to court records. He has no more than $50,000 in assets and between $10 million and $50 million in liabilities.

The Associated Press reports former MLB OF Lenny Dykstra settled a lawsuit with an accounting firm that claimed he owed more than $100,000. Dykstra and DDK & Co. sealed a deal in court Monday, Nov. 24. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ken Mandel, of MLB.com, reports Philadelphia Phillies fans have selected five finalists for the 2008 Wall of Fame inductee. The finalists include former C Darren Daulton, OF Lenny Dykstra, OF Greg Gross, 1B John Kruk and 2B Juan Samuel. The winner will be selected Saturday, Aug. 9, before the game against the San Diego Padres.

Former MLB OF Lenny Dykstra has been named in the Mitchell Report. Personal trainer and former employee of the New York Mets Kirk Radomski asked Dykstra about his increased size, Dykstra admitted to taking steroids, according to the report.
