Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger injures knee

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 12:19:23 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) suffered a knee injury in Week 16 but is considered probable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if he is able to play in Week 17. Bruce Gradkowski would be the next quarterback up if Roethlisberger misses time but is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger has thrown at least one touchdown pass in all but one game this season and has thrown for at least 300 yards in eight games. He will be facing a tough Kansas City Chiefs defense but should still be an option for owners on FantasyScore at $7,700.

Steelers | Big Ben, Heath Miller back at practice

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:14:45 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury) and TE Heath Miller (non-injury) both returned to a full practice Thursday, Dec. 18, after taking the day off Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard not to like Roethlisberger ($7,700) after last week's performance and the overall year he's having. Miller ($4,500), on the other hand, is a tight end to avoid this weekend. The Chiefs have limited opposing tight ends to just 2.55 fantasy points per game in the last four weeks.

Steelers | Roethlisberger, OC clicking

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 16:20:09 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and offensive coordinator Todd Haley are working very well together this season. With the game on the line late in the fourth quarter in Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons, Haley gave Roethlisberger the freedom to decide between two different plays. The fact that Haley didn't insist on a run with just one yard to gain shows how well the relationship between the coordinator and QB is going. Roethlisberger was 12-for-14 for 191 yards on plays in which the Falcons rushed at least five defenders, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Fantasy Tip: That's two straight solid performances for Big Ben. He'll face a Kansas City Chiefs defense in Week 16 that has been pretty solid against opposing quarterbacks this year, though, so it may be tough for him to return handsomely on your investment at FantasyScore.

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 15:20:22 -0800

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger stayed patient

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 14:17:18 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger stayed patient in the team's Week 14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and he was 5-for-7 for 147 yards and two touchdowns on play-action passes, according to ESPN Stats & Information. In the game, he went 25-for-39 for 350 yards and three touchdowns, and he did not force any throws that led to turnovers. Roethlisberger has thrown five of his eight interceptions this year on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger ($7,900) is a good investment once again against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend. The Falcons have allowed an average of 16.78 fantasy points to quarterbacks in the last four weeks, and their secondary has been vulnerable for much of the year.

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 13:09:41 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger has struggled over the last three games with five interceptions in that span as opposed to four touchdowns. Roethlisberger will be facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals defense, so his $7,900 price tag on FantasyScore may be too expensive for some owners.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger threw six touchdown passes in the Week 9 game against the Baltimore Ravens, giving him 12 over the past two games to tie an NFL record.

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 21:38:47 -0700

Over his past eight starts against the Browns, Roethlisberger has thrown two or more touchdown passes. However, in 19 career starts, he has eclipsed 281 yards just twice.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger is a solid FantasyScore option at $7600 (or 15.2 percent of the cap) based upon his Week 1 performance against the Browns, but not so much for his career trends.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger disappointed

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 10:40:33 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he was unhappy with his play in Week 5 even though he went 26-for-36 for 273 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions. "I was a little disappointed in the way I played," Roethlisberger said. "I want to say the line played a lot better than what the stats are going to say. That's a good defensive front. They got after it. I know there are going to be some stats on sacks, but the line played a lot better than it will be written. A lot of those are on me."

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger has played well in his last three games and has not thrown an interception in that span. Roethlisberger likely will be a matchup play most of the season, but could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore this upcoming week depending on the price.

Broncos | Emmanuel Sanders compares QBs

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 17:11:56 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders said QB Peyton Manning is a "better leader" than Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger. "This is the first time that I had a quarterback that stays every single day after practice, no matter what his accolades," Sanders said. "From NFL MVP, Super Bowl rings. He keeps guys like me and (Cody) Latimer after practice and we're out there 15, 20 minutes. And he's not one of those guys you gotta go chase down, he's gonna be right at the same spot ready to work, every single day."

Fantasy Tip: Sanders is set to be the No. 3 receiver for the Broncos this season, and the extra work he is putting in with Manning should help him hit the ground running when the season begins. He is worth drafting in the middle rounds as a WR3 in fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Liked Blake Bortles a lot

Sat, 17 May 2014 06:40:44 -0700

The Arizona Cardinals liked QB Blake Bortles leading up to the draft, and thought he could become a franchise quarterback. "Well, you know, we liked Blake Bortles a lot," general manager Steve Keim said.  "We thought, when you looked at his size, his athleticism, his ability to improvise. He doesn't have quite the arm strength that Ben Roethlisberger had but he has some of the same skill set, naturally with his foot speed and athleticism to get out of the pocket and make plays with his feet, as well as stand tall in the pocket and make some of the throws down the field. And he's a guy, being a junior coming out, he still had some developing to do as well but we think his upside is pretty big."

Steelers | Could use no-huddle more often

Wed, 07 May 2014 13:32:24 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said the team may consider using the no-huddle offense more this upcoming season because of the success the team had in the latter part of the 2013 season. "We've all kind of come to the conclusion that maybe it needs to be more involved, we need to do it more. So I think parts of it might be more of a base offense; we might go into training camp, OTAs, minicamp, using it a lot more, so it is more of a regular thing. But not always. Because we've got to have our two and three tight-end packages, we've got to have jumbo stuff, short-yardage, goal line. We still have to have all those things. But to have it, to use it more often, and to be more comfortable with it, I think it makes us better," Roethlisberger said.
