The Associated Press reports former NFL WR Jimmy Smith pleaded not guilty to several drug-related charges, which included possession of cocaine and marijuana as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. He also pleaded not guilty to driving with a suspended license.

Jaguars | Smith faces multiple drug charges

Updating a previous report,The Associated Press reports former Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jimmy Smith was pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol for excessive window tint Wednesday, April 22. After pulling him over, the trooper reported that the inside of the car smelled like burnt marijuana. A search of the car turned up crack cocaine, marijuana and a business card with powder cocaine residue in the car's center console. Smith faces multiple drug charges and a charge of driving with a suspended license. He was being held at the Duval County Jail with no bond set.

Smith retires as No. 7 in career receptions in NFL history with 862 catches and No. 11 in career receiving yardage in NFL history with 12,287 yards.

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jimmy Smith has decided to retire from the NFL after 12 seasons. He has reportedly told head coach Jack Del Rio of his decision. The Jaguars are expected to hold a press conference Thursday, May 11, unless Smith has a last-minute change of heart.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Johnson is looking beyond 2011, the year his new contract with the team ends. Johnson said, "I want to play until I'm 45 and I'm not fooling. As long as I can go out there and run my mouth and make plays, I can do it. What I have to do now is continue to get better." He believes he can have the same career path as Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jimmy Smith, who caught 70 passes during the 2005 season at the age of 36.
