Ravens | Matt Schaub not ready to retire

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 09:44:36 -0800

Baltimore Ravens unrestricted free-agent QB Matt Schaub said he isn't interested in retiring. "I still want to play," Schaub said. "I've still got good years left in me. It's just where I might be. We'll see what happens moving forward." Schaub started two games for the Ravens this year and threw a pick-six in both starts.

Ravens | Baltimore non-committal on QB

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 13:51:12 -0800

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he isn't naming a starting quarterback for Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs Friday, Dec. 18, even though QB Matt Schaub (chest) is listed as probable. QB Jimmy Clausen is another option to start against the Chiefs. Clausen took at least half of practice repetitions both Wednesday, Dec. 16, and Thursday, Dec. 17, according to offensive coordinator Marc Trestman. Harbaugh said Schaub has a chance to be 100% healthy by Sunday, Dec. 20. It's highly unlikely that QB Ryan Mallett will see playing time Sunday after being signed this week.

Fantasy Tip: Either way you slice it, neither Baltimore quarterback is worth starting on FantasyScore as a deep sleeper against a surging Chiefs defense.

Ravens | Matt Schaub probable to play

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 11:56:23 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) is listed as probable to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: The Chiefs have won seven straight and are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Their defense has been smothering, too, so choosing a banged-up Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) as a deep sleeper is foolish.

Ravens | Matt Schaub has full practice

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 16:00:18 -0800

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) put in a full practice Thursday, Dec. 17, after being limited Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) was laboring in practice, however, so it's still uncertain if he'll start against a strong Kansas City Chiefs defense. Either way, FantasyScore gamers will want to avoid the quarterback spot in Baltimore in Week 15 and beyond.

Ravens | Matt Schaub labors in practice

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 10:50:55 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) practiced Thursday, Dec. 17, but appeared to labor while making a few throws.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) and Jimmy Clausen ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) have a tough draw against the Kansas City Chiefs, and neither are worth starting on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Matt Schaub limited

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 17:13:17 -0800

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) missed the last game and his status for the Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs is still uncertain. Jimmy Clausen ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) probably would receive another start if Schaub is not able to play, but neither quarterback should not be a starting option this week.

Ravens | Matt Schaub sits Wednesday

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 10:46:28 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest, shoulder) is out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) and Jimmy Clausen ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) have a tough draw against the Kansas City Chiefs, and neither are worth starting on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Some hope Matt Schaub starts

Tue, 15 Dec 2015 06:53:31 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest, shoulder) has given some hope he could start in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) and Jimmy Clausen ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) have a tough draw against the Kansas City Chiefs, and neither are worth starting on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Matt Schaub out versus Seattle

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 08:58:34 -0800

Confirming a previous report, Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) is officially inactive for Week 14's game against the Seattle Seahawks. QB Jimmy Clausen will receive the start.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) should be removed from all fantasy lineups. As a member of the Chicago Bears, Clausen ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) went 9-for-17 for 63 yards during a Week 3 relief appearance versus the Seahawks but hasn't played since. He should be avoided in FantasyScore this week.

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 08:37:16 -0800

Ravens | Jimmy Clausen starting Sunday

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 07:06:41 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Jimmy Clausen will start Week 14's game against the Seattle Seahawks, as a result of QB Matt Schaub (chest) being sidelined due to a chest injury. QB Bryn Renner will serve as the Ravens' No. 2 quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Clausen ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is 23-for-40 with 184 passing yards and an interception in two games this season and his last action came as a member of the Chicago Bears during Week 3's game against the Seahawks. Clausen is not a recommended starting option in FantasyScore this week.

Ravens | Matt Schaub not expected to play

Sat, 12 Dec 2015 09:21:52 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) is not expected to play in the Week 14 game against the Seattle Seahawks because of his chest injury. QB Jimmy Clausen likely will start if Schaub is ruled out.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to check the inactive list to see if Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) or Clausen ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) will start in Week 14. Neither quarterback has done much this season and should not be starting options for fantasy owners.

Ravens | Matt Schaub questionable

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 14:11:12 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) did not practice Friday, Dec. 11, but is questionable for Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. If Schaub doesn't play, QB Jimmy Clausen would be the starter.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is a terrible fantasy option even if he plays. Clausen ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is a bad option if he plays, too. The Seahawks are licking their chops on defense. Pay up for them on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Matt Schaub not practicing

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 10:40:56 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) sat out of practice again Friday, Dec. 11, making it likely that QB Jimmy Clausen starts in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Wait for Schaub's ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) official status, but it's not looking good for him. Even if he starts, he shouldn't come anywhere close to a starting lineup this weekend. The same can be said for Clausen ($4,500, 9.0% of cap). Nobody from Baltimore is a safe fantasy play this week, and paying up for Seattle's defense on FantasyScore is a winning strategy this week.

Ravens | Matt Schaub, Crockett Gillmore absent

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 16:24:38 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (shoulder, knee) and TE Crockett Gillmore (back) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Both of these guys will need to be monitored heading into the weekend, but the whole Ravens' offense could have a rough day against the Seattle Seahawks. It's better to avoid Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) and Gillmore ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) even if they do play.

Ravens | Matt Schaub not practicing

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 11:52:30 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (shoulder, knee) is out of practice with shoulder and knee injuries Wednesday, Dec. 9. QB Jimmy Clausen is taking the first-team repetitions.

Fantasy Tip: The Legion of Boom isn't what it used to, but the Seattle Seahawks have to be licking their chops against Schaub ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) or Clausen ($4,500, 9.0% of cap). You'll probably want to downgrade all of Baltimore's offensive weapons, too. Paying up for Seattle's defense on FantasyScore is a solid move.

Ravens | Baltimore could use two QBs

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 08:18:34 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (head) is "banged up and sore," and head coach John Harbaugh said Schaub and QB Jimmy Clausen could play Sunday, Dec. 13. Schaub will likely be limited in practice this week.

Fantasy Tip: This situation is a mess, and neither quarterback is worth using on FantasyScore against the Seattle Seahawks.

Ravens | Matt Schaub passes concussion tests

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 14:52:07 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (head) passed the concussion tests after the team's Week 13 game and passed them again Monday, Dec. 7, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Schaub will be able to play against the Seattle Seahawks, but owners should keep an eye out on his status during the week. Schaub struggled during his first start of the season and should not be a starting option for owners.

Ravens | Matt Schaub throws for 308 yards

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 22:59:36 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub (head) completed 32 of 46 pass attempts for 308 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins. He also ran once for no gain. He hit his head during the game and said Sunday, Dec. 6, that he passed the concussion test.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub posted a decent yardage total in his second start for the injured Joe Flacco, but don't expect the success to continue with a difficult matchup in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Ravens | Matt Schaub leads team to victory

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 21:53:59 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Matt Schaub completed 20 of his 34 passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 12 game against the Cleveland Browns Monday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub was about as good as expected in his first start taking over for the injured Joe Flacco (knee). Despite the two TD strikes he isn't an attractive FantasyScore option heading into Week 13 in Miami.

Ravens | Joe Flacco has extensive knee damage

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 09:06:31 -0800

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) said he tore the anterior and medial collateral ligaments in his knee in Week 11, although he has yet to have an MRI exam. Flacco is expected to miss the rest of the year, and it'll be the first time he has missed a game since being drafted in 2008. Flacco had started 122 straight games, which was the fifth-longest streak in NFL history. QB Matt Schaub will finish the season as the starter.

Fantasy Tip: You can obviously cut Flacco in any deep redraft leagues at this point. Injuries have decimated Baltimore's skill players this year, leaving nothing intriguing for fantasy players left with Schaub at the helm now and Justin Forsett (broken arm) also out for the year.

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 18:40:16 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco said QB Matt Schaub has helped him understand the concepts of offensive coordinator Marc Trestman's system.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco will have the occasional big game, but he has never reached 4,000 yards or 30 touchdowns in a season. Draft him as a QB2.

Ravens | Matt Schaub to back up Joe Flacco?

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 20:29:56 -0700

Free-agent QB Matt Schaub (Raiders) has received interest from the Baltimore Ravens, as well as the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets. According to a source, Schaub is expected to sign this week.

Fantasy Tip: Schaub would be nothing more than a backup with the Ravens, so obviously his fantasy value would be nil. His best bet at playing time and fantasy appeal in 2015 might be a deal with the Jets.

Falcons | Atlanta to bring Matt Schaub back?

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 20:29:22 -0700

The Atlanta Falcons are interested in free-agent QB Matt Schaub (Raiders). The Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets are interested in his services, and a source said he is expected to choose a team this week.

Fantasy Tip: It would be interesting to see Schaub return to where his career started, although he would strictly be a backup this time around as long as Matt Ryan stays healty. Schaub's best bet at playing time, and therefore having fantasy appeal, would be signing on the dotted line with the Jets.

Jets | Matt Schaub drawing interest from Jets

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 20:23:25 -0700

Free-agent QB Matt Schaub (Raiders) is drawing interest from the New York Jets, as well as the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens. According to a source, Schaub is expected to sign this week.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets could be an interesting landing spot for Schaub, and it might be his best bet at re-gaining a starting job. He certainly wouldn't unseat Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan with those other interested teams. Even if he were to top Geno Smith for the starting job in New York, his fantasy value would be very minimal.

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 09:26:28 -0700

Free-agent QB Matt Schaub (Raiders) could be added by the Atlanta Falcons, as they currently have QBs T.J. Yates and Sean Renfree backing up QB Matt Ryan. New Falcons head coach Dan Quinn didn't rule out signing Schaub, who is familiar with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's systems from his days with the Houston Texans. Schaub also played three seasons with the Falcons early in his career behind QB Michael Vick.

Raiders | Matt Schaub released by Oakland

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 13:56:29 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Matt Schaub was released Monday, March 16.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a huge surprised as Schaub has really struggled, the Raiders just signed Christian Ponder and Derek Carr seems to be the quarterback of the future. Even if Schaub gets signed by somebody else, he's one to stay away from.
