George Diaz, of the Orlando Sentinel, reports former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula said there isn't a big celebratory champagne bash whenever a team falls short of matching the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only undefeated squad in NFL history. "That's probably the most-talked-about thing that just doesn't happen," Shula, the former Dolphins coach, said during a national conference call Tuesday, Nov. 22. "We've got players scattered all across the country. Nick Buoniconti, Bob Griese and Dick Anderson all live in Coral Gables, and they'll go to a parking lot and open a bottle of champagne, but those three are too cheap to invite the rest of us down there." Shula said the Indianapolis Colts have been looking very good in their effort to go undefeated. "We've been accused of being angry, old men and just hoping and praying that the last team would lose, and that's not true," Shula said. "If the Colts do it, I'd be the first guy to call (Colts head coach Tony) Dungy and congratulate him, and I'm sure our players would congratulate their players."

Patriots.com reports former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula, who led his 1972 team to the perfect undefeated season, considers the New England Patriots a threat to go undefeated and break his team's record for most consecutive wins in one season. "I think they have a real shot at it," Shula said during an NFL conference call. "They have to win a lot of games to do it, and they've got tough teams down the road, but what they've accomplished, you have to think they certainly are a legitimate threat to do it. They're a team that's solid in every way, from ownership to the coaching to the players."
