|Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez playing winter ball|
Mon, 23 Nov 2015 14:51:23 -0800
Fantasy Tip: The move to first base has the potential to help Ramirez stay healthy in 2016, as he has missed significant time in four of the past five seasons. Expect Ramirez to be a polarizing player leading into the season, as while he has huge upside, he has also been a huge disappointment a number of times over the past half decade. With a clean bill of health, Ramirez has the potential to yield a huge return from a middle-round pick this spring.

|Red Sox | Club asks Hanley Ramirez to shed weight|
Thu, 12 Nov 2015 14:33:10 -0800
Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez was asked by the organization to lose weight to become "a little more athletic," according to 1B David Ortiz. "When it comes down to losing weight there's nothing wrong about that. I can tell you from my own experience, once I decided to take care of myself better and do things better, losing weight and other stuff, my career got longer. Hanley is still young. That's some good advice. That's the only way I can explain it. If you listen to what they have to say right now, his career is going to do nothing but get better because he's an amazing player, an unbelievable athlete and you have to be healthy to be a productive player."
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has missed significant time in four of the past five seasons, which has made him a near annual fantasy disappointment. While you may be able to use that to your advantage next spring, Ramirez should still be viewed as nothing more than a risky No. 2 outfielder leading into the 2016 season. When healthy, he remains an excellent contributor in the fake game, but staying on the field is an issue. Stay tuned for updates throughout the offseason.

|Red Sox | Rest helping Hanley Ramirez's shoulder|
Mon, 09 Nov 2015 11:29:37 -0800
Fantasy Tip: 2015 was a story of two seasons for Ramirez. Before Wednesday, June 24, Ramirez sat with 41 runs, 15 home runs, 38 RBI and a .283/.330/.482 slash line through 273 plate appearances. It was all downhill after, though, as Ramirez finished with a .556 OPS and just 12 extra-base hits over his final 38 games of the season. He is a high-end contributor when healthy, but injuries have significantly curbed his fantasy returns in four of the past five seasons, and Ramirez enters his age-32 season in 2016. Stay tuned for updates, and view the outfielder as a risky No. 2 outfielder who could disappoint if reached for too early in drafts next spring.

|Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez working out at first|
Thu, 22 Oct 2015 17:42:06 -0700
Boston Red Sox 1B/OF Hanley Ramirez has started working out in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as he makes the transition from the outfield to first base. The organization has asked him to lose some weight in order to become agile enough for the footwork required at the position.
Fantasy Tip: In his first year in the American League, Ramirez hit .249 with 19 home runs and 53 RBIs in 105 games. The season was marked by disappointment, as he hit just .183 with no home runs in 105 at-bats after the All-Star break and didn't play after Aug. 26. As a result, he is a strong bounce-back candidate who could slip in fantasy baseball drafts next season and may be worth the gamble in the middle rounds.

|Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez moving to 1B|
Tue, 13 Oct 2015 13:39:56 -0700
Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez is expected to move to first base next season, according to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. Dombrowski said Ramirez and his representatives are in favor of the move.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez was used in the outfield this season but did deal with various injuries. He will not be playing this offseason, so he will have to learn how to play the position during spring training. Ramirez is a solid hitter when he is healthy and should be a solid option during drafts next season.

|Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez finished for the season|
Thu, 24 Sep 2015 14:49:04 -0700
Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) has not responded well enough to treatment on his right shoulder inflammation and will not play again this season, according to interim manager Torey Lovullo. Lovullo noted surgery is considered unlikely at this point.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez hasn't played since Wednesday, Aug. 26, and he finished the season with a disappointing .249/.291/.426 slash line with 59 runs, 19 home runs and 53 RBI over 105 games. Ramirez projects to be a polarizing fantasy player next spring, as it has been three years since he has played a full season. There will come a point in drafts where the reward outweighs the risk, though, and there is undeniable upside with Ramirez. Monitor his progress during the offseason.

|Red Sox | BoSox not rushing Hanley Ramirez back|
Mon, 21 Sep 2015 16:12:09 -0700
Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez's (shoulder) return is not imminent, according to interim manager Torey Lovullo, and it's unknown if he'll return again this year. The Red Sox won't activate Ramirez until he's able to play defense at first base. Part of the problem is that he must throw with a lower arm angle at first base and the club doesn't want him to reinjure the shoulder heading into an offseason in which they're likely to trade him.
Fantasy Tip: With only two weeks left in the regular season, time is running out for Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap). Even if he does return, there's not enough time for him to make an impact for your fantasy squads. Leave him to the waiver wire. Next year he's expected to gain first base eligibility, but that could depend on if he remains in Boston.

|Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez not ready yet|
Mon, 21 Sep 2015 13:53:33 -0700
Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) wants to be 100% pain-free before he returns to action, according to interim manager Torey Lovullo. Ramirez is getting closer to returning but isn't ready yet.
Fantasy Tip: It seems highly unlikely that Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) will return this year with Boston having nothing to play for. They won't risk it. Ramirez should be on all waiver wires.

|Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez placed on disabled list|
Sat, 05 Sep 2015 11:17:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable for Ramirez's ($4,100, 8.4% of cap) return, although he is eligible to be activated from the DL Friday, Sept. 11. If he comes back before the end of the regular season, he will see time at first base, where he is expected to play next year. He is batting .249 with 19 home runs and 53 RBIs through 105 games, although he is homerless in 109 at-bats since the All-Star break.

|Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez sitting vs. Phillies|
Fri, 04 Sep 2015 12:44:01 -0700
Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 4. 1B Allen Craig draws into the lineup at first base and is batting fifth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Friday.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) hasn't been a major disappointment when in the lineup, so fantasy owners will want to take a long look at replacements for their stretch drive. His .193/.223/.333 slash line since Wednesday, July 1, isn't doing your virtual team any favors, after all. Craig ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has been awful since joining the Red Sox last season and sports a .130/.244/.192 slash line over 168 plate appearances with the team. You should aim higher at first base in all fantasy formats, including FantasyScore.
