Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez, Christian Vazquez out

Mon, 30 May 2016 08:43:06 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez and C Christian Vazquez are not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson Monday, May 30. 3B Travis Shaw will start at third base, while INF Marco Hernandez will start at third base and is batting ninth. C Ryan Hanigan will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez is hitting .222 in limited playing time this month and is not a strong fantasy option for owners. Hanigan has struggled at the plate this season and should be avoided in most daily fantasy leagues.

Red Sox | David Ortiz scratched

Sun, 29 May 2016 10:11:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz (foot) was scratched from the starting lineup Sunday, May 29, because of a possible foot injury. 1B Hanley Ramirez is serving as the designated hitter. 3B Travis Shaw is starting at first base, while 2B Josh Rutledge is starting at third base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Ortiz will need to miss multiple games. Rutledge has only two hits in his last five games and should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Red Sox | David Ortiz takes a seat

Fri, 27 May 2016 13:24:35 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 27. 1B Hanley Ramirez is serving as the designated hitter, while 3B Travis Shaw moves over to first base and is batting cleanup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Aaron Sanchez. INF Marco Hernandez draws a start at the hot corner and is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It looks to be just a normal off day for Papi. Make sure to replace him in your daily lineups. Han-Ram and Shaw have been very consistent producers for Boston all year and should remain excellent plays. Hernandez is a true dart throw as a desperation flier in daily games tonight.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez starting vs. Rockies

Wed, 25 May 2016 14:04:06 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez (toe) is starting at first base and batting fifth against Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis Wednesday, May 25. Ramirez left the game early Tuesday, May 24, and was diagnosed with a toe contusion.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should be happy to see Ramirez back in the lineup following his early exit Tuesday. And while his four home runs are a little lower than expected, Ramirez is pounding the other stat columns with 26 runs and 26 RBI and there are no complaints about his .311 batting average and .364 on-base percentage. Look for the power to pick up, and Ramirez appears to be set for a strong rebound showing, as long as he can avoid injuries.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez unable to finish game

Tue, 24 May 2016 19:32:32 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez (toe) left the game early Tuesday, May 24, and has been diagnosed with a toe contusion.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see if Ramirez will miss any time because of the injury. Travis Shaw probably would start at first base and Josh Rutledge would play at third base if Ramirez misses time. Shaw has played well this season and should be starting in all leagues, while Rutledge should be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues because he has been productive in limited playing time.

Fri, 20 May 2016 19:59:40 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (undisclosed) came up limping after beating out a grounder against the Cleveland Indians Friday, May 20, but he stayed in the game.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like any injury Ramirez may have suffered is minor, so he should be safe to use going forward.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez, Brock Holt sitting

Wed, 18 May 2016 08:30:08 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez and OF Brock Holt are out of the lineup Wednesday, May 18, in the first game of a doubleheader. 3B Josh Rutledge is hitting sixth, and OF Chris Young is hitting eighth. C Ryan Hanigan is hitting ninth with C Christian Vazquez also resting.

Fantasy Tip: Young is only worth using against lefties, which Ian Kennedy is not. Rutledge is 4-for- 9 (.444) the last week and might be worth a basement flyer. Hanigan isn't worth starting in DFS.

Red Sox | David Ortiz not starting

Sun, 15 May 2016 09:10:08 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Chris Devenski Sunday, May 15. 3B Travis Shaw will start at first base, while 1B Hanley Ramirez will serve as the designated hitter. 2B Josh Rutledge will start at third base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez and Shaw have played well and should be starters in all fantasy leagues. Rutledge has only one hit in his last nine at-bats and is not a great option for most owners.

Red Sox | David Ortiz takes a seat

Tue, 10 May 2016 12:14:10 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Sean Manaea Tuesday, May 10. 2B Josh Rutledge draws into the lineup at second base and is hitting sixth. 1B Hanley Ramirez is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup, while 3B Travis Shaw moves across the diamond to first base.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz is just receiving a breather. Rutledge has seven hits in 14 at-bats but doesn't give you much hope for power, as he's never reached double-digit long balls in a single season. He's a low-end desperation play in daily leagues. Ramirez and Shaw continue to produce at a high level and are solid picks in any fantasy format this evening.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez extends streak

Fri, 06 May 2016 20:19:12 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez extended his hitting streak to 10 games, finishing 2-for-5 in a 3-2 loss to the New York Yankees Friday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has two homers, nine RBI and six runs scored during the streak, and while his speed has disappeared, he can still provide solid offensive numbers when healthy.
