Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez drops in lineup

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:25:56 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez is batting seventh in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Wednesday, June 22. OF Chris Young has moved up in the lineup and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has been on a bit of a cold streak and has recorded a .179 batting average this month. He should still be a decent starting option in most leagues despite the struggles. Young is hitting .261 over the last seven days and should have some value in deeper mixed leagues.

Red Sox | David Ortiz not starting Tuesday

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 12:43:22 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz is not in the lineup Tuesday, June 21, against the Chicago White Sox. OF Hanley Ramirez will man the DH slot against White Sox SP Chris Sale, while 1B Travis Shaw is at first and 3B Deven Marrero mans third base.

Fantasy Tip: All these roster changes are largely due to Ortiz sitting out against a left-handed pitcher. Ramirez is a decent bat in all formats as he's warming up (six hits in the last six games). After a slump earlier in the month, Shaw is warming up in daily formats (six hits in the last seven games). Marrero has only been up a few days and does not have significant fantasy value yet.

Red Sox | Solid line for Hanley Ramirez

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 20:40:28 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, two runs scored and a walk Wednesday, June 15, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez was really slumping to start the month, but he has hit safely in three straight games and he has driven in five runs over the past four games. In addition, he has walked in five straight, and seven of the past eight games to find a way to get on base. He remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues despite his recent struggles at the dish.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez tinkering with mechanics

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 15:10:34 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez sometimes uses a leg kicks and other times abandons it in his "search for the consistency in his timing," according to manager John Farrell. Ramirez hasn't homered in 28 games since May 10. The 104-at-bat drought is the fourth longest of his career.

Fantasy Tip: This has to be an area of concern now for Han-Ram owners. His .269/.337/.379 slash line is still respectable, but the lack of power is hurting at this point. Ramirez has looked lost at the plate in June (.135), and you may want to consider benching him in traditional leagues until he figures things out.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez with tough matchup

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 15:41:46 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez is hitting .179 (5-for-28) in his career against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner. Ramirez faces Bumgarner Wednesday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: It sure is a tough matchup for HanRam, and despite an impressive .277/.342/.390 slash line on the year, he hasn't homered since May 10. This wouldn't be the night to rely on him in daily setups, and it'd be wise to bench him for more favorable options in seasonal leagues if you have that luxury.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez in power slide

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 12:28:26 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez is 10-for-51 (.196) with no extra-base hits in his last 14 games. However, he does have eight RBI in that span. He has gone 53 at-bats without an extra-base hit and 75 at-bats without a home run. His last homer came on May 10.

Fantasy Tip: Han-Ram's average is still respectable at .287 despite his recent slide, and he has four home runs and 31 RBI on the season. The power outage is concerning, but he's still hitting in the heart of a potent lineup and will continue to see plenty of opportunities to drive in runs.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez, Christian Vazquez out

Mon, 30 May 2016 08:43:06 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez and C Christian Vazquez are not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson Monday, May 30. 3B Travis Shaw will start at third base, while INF Marco Hernandez will start at third base and is batting ninth. C Ryan Hanigan will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez is hitting .222 in limited playing time this month and is not a strong fantasy option for owners. Hanigan has struggled at the plate this season and should be avoided in most daily fantasy leagues.

Red Sox | David Ortiz scratched

Sun, 29 May 2016 10:11:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz (foot) was scratched from the starting lineup Sunday, May 29, because of a possible foot injury. 1B Hanley Ramirez is serving as the designated hitter. 3B Travis Shaw is starting at first base, while 2B Josh Rutledge is starting at third base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Ortiz will need to miss multiple games. Rutledge has only two hits in his last five games and should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Red Sox | David Ortiz takes a seat

Fri, 27 May 2016 13:24:35 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 27. 1B Hanley Ramirez is serving as the designated hitter, while 3B Travis Shaw moves over to first base and is batting cleanup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Aaron Sanchez. INF Marco Hernandez draws a start at the hot corner and is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It looks to be just a normal off day for Papi. Make sure to replace him in your daily lineups. Han-Ram and Shaw have been very consistent producers for Boston all year and should remain excellent plays. Hernandez is a true dart throw as a desperation flier in daily games tonight.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez starting vs. Rockies

Wed, 25 May 2016 14:04:06 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez (toe) is starting at first base and batting fifth against Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis Wednesday, May 25. Ramirez left the game early Tuesday, May 24, and was diagnosed with a toe contusion.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should be happy to see Ramirez back in the lineup following his early exit Tuesday. And while his four home runs are a little lower than expected, Ramirez is pounding the other stat columns with 26 runs and 26 RBI and there are no complaints about his .311 batting average and .364 on-base percentage. Look for the power to pick up, and Ramirez appears to be set for a strong rebound showing, as long as he can avoid injuries.
