Red Sox | David Ortiz back in lineup

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 11:09:28 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz is back in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Alfredo Simon Saturday, July 25, batting cleanup. OF Hanley Ramirez, who served as the designated hitter Friday, July 24, will return to left field and bat fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is only batting .196 during day games and is 1-for-6 versus Simon in his career but has started hitting better this month, with four home runs and 11 RBIs through 58 July at-bats. That being said, better FantasyScore options should be available.

Red Sox | David Ortiz out of the lineup

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:39:10 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander Friday, July 24. OF Hanley Ramirez will serve as the designated hitter and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game or two. Ramirez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is hitting only .185 this month and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez to serve as DH

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 09:43:27 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez will serve as the designated hitter against New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi Sunday, July 12, and is batting fifth in the lineup. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in left field and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is hitting only .194 this month but does have four home runs and seven RBI in that span. Owners could consider using Ramirez in their lineups on FantasyScore. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has recorded four hits in his last six games and could be a cheaper option to consider.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez excelling as DH

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 12:15:02 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez is 9-for-27 with five home runs and 10 RBI in seven starts as the designated hitter this year. He is serving as the DH Wednesday, July 8.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) makes for a fine FantasyScore addition to your lineup tonight against Koehler, who is allowing 1.2 home runs per nine innings in his 15 starts this year.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez comes up big

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 18:12:16 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros Sunday, July 5.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has had his power stroke working since returning from a hand injury, hitting three homers in five games. However, he is hitting just .200 over the same stretch, so he is a boom-or-bust play at FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez will be DH

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 08:29:33 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez will serve as the designated hitter against Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers Sunday, July 5, and is batting fifth in the lineup. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in left field and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is off to a quick start in July with two home runs and three RBI in four games. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using him in their lineups. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has recorded at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games and 13 RBI in that span. De Aza could be a cheaper option for owners to consider.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez returns

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 07:25:54 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) returned to the lineup Wednesday, July 1, hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: HanRam ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has been out of the lineup for a week and is just 2-for-9 against Mark Buehrle in his career. Give him a day or two to find his stroke before dropping that much on FantasyScore for him.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez could return Wednesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 14:08:08 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (wrist) will take batting practice on the field Tuesday, June 30, and there's a good chance he'll return to the lineup Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) looks like he'll avoid the DL, so his owners can breathe easy. You may want to give him a day or two back in the lineup before running with him on FantasyScore, though.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez remains out

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:13:27 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (wrist) remains out of the lineup Tuesday, June 30. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in left field and hitting seventh against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez could return any day now, so keep an eye out. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been an excellent value play in Ramirez's absence, and he's riding a five-game hitting streak in which he has nine knocks (three home runs) and six RBI. He's more of a risk against Estrada, though, as he's taken no-hit bids deep into his last two outings.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez could return this week

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 14:39:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand), who is dealing with a badly bruised left hand, is optimistic that he can return during the team's four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays this week. He could be back in the lineup if he feels fine swinging a bat over the next few days. Ramirez hasn't played since last Wednesday, but the Red Sox have avoided putting him on the disabled list after the swelling in his hand diminished over the weekend. OF Alejandro De Aza has started four straight games in left field and has gone 6-for-15 (.400) with three home runs and six RBI.

Fantasy Tip: It's wise to avoid Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) at least until later this week, and sitting him in weekly leagues is probably the right call. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) could once again be a very fine sleeper pick on FantasyScore while going against Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey in a hitter-friendly environment tonight.
