Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez could return this week

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 14:39:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand), who is dealing with a badly bruised left hand, is optimistic that he can return during the team's four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays this week. He could be back in the lineup if he feels fine swinging a bat over the next few days. Ramirez hasn't played since last Wednesday, but the Red Sox have avoided putting him on the disabled list after the swelling in his hand diminished over the weekend. OF Alejandro De Aza has started four straight games in left field and has gone 6-for-15 (.400) with three home runs and six RBI.

Fantasy Tip: It's wise to avoid Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) at least until later this week, and sitting him in weekly leagues is probably the right call. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) could once again be a very fine sleeper pick on FantasyScore while going against Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey in a hitter-friendly environment tonight.

Red Sox | Clean MRI for Hanley Ramirez

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 14:07:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez's (hand) MRI exam did not show anything, and there is optimism he can resume swinging Monday, June 29, or Tuesday, June 30, the team announced.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) to return sooner than later, but given the nature of the injury, there could be a lingering negative impact to his bat. FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid him until he proves his health and shows signs of life at the dish.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez with team, but not starting

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 13:34:02 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 29, but he is with the team for their road series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: It is a good sign that Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is with the team, and it likely means, he is inching closer to returning. He underwent an MRI exam Sunday, June 28. Continue to avoid him in FantasyScore contests until he returns and proves his health. Expect more news to surface, so check back for a return timeline and an update on the severity of his injury.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez to undergo MRI exam

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 11:05:07 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is heading back to Boston to undergo an MRI exam on his left hand. "He's still feeling some discomfort," manager John Farrell said. "At this time (Monday, June 29), we will get a better read on his roster status and if there is anything in addition to what was determined by the CAT scan and the X-ray. Unfortunately, he is not progressing as we anticipated, particularly over the past 24-48 hours."

Fantasy Tip: Alejandro De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and Jackie Bradley Jr. ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will see regular playing time in the outfield while Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is sidelined. Check back for updates on his status and avoid using him in FantasyScore until he proves he is completely healthy.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez remains out

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 09:24:23 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Sunday, June 28. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) could be placed on the 15-day disabled list, so owners should monitor the situation. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has at least one hit in seven of his last nine games and nine RBI in that span. De Aza could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is out of the lineup Saturday, June 27, with OF Alejandro De Aza in his place.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez remains day-to-day

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 15:29:18 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (hand) is still being listed as day-to-day with a bruised left hand, according to manager John Farrell. Ramirez is currently unable to swing a bat.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds as if Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) could easily miss several more games. Be cautious when considering him on FantasyScore this weekend. Alejandro De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) should continue to fill in for as long as Han-Ram is sidelined. De Aza is a low-end sleeper matchup pick on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez out vs. Rays

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 12:09:00 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 26. OF Alejandro De Aza is playing left field and batting seventh against Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He is currently day-to-day after being hit on the left wrist by a line drive Wednesday, June 24. X-rays and a CT scan on Ramirez came back negative, though. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) should be viewed as low-priced flier for FantasyScore players, and he is currently riding a 9-for-26 run with a 1.085 OPS.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez day-to-day

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 10:30:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (wrist) is being listed as day-to-day after being hit on the left wrist by a line drive Wednesday, June 24. X-rays and a CT scan on Ramirez came back negative, according to manager John Farrell. "It's really sore," Ramirez said. "I had a big bump in there, and it was really, really painful. Much less pain this morning."

Fantasy Tip: Expect Ramirez to be out for maybe a couple more days, but keep an eye on his progress. Alejandro De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is starting in Ramirez's place today and could see additional starts as long as Ramirez is out. However, De Aza is a low-end outfield selection on FantasyScore, at best.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez going for tests

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 09:07:27 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Hanley Ramirez (hand), who is dealing with a bruised left hand, is going for X-rays and a CT scan, according to manager John Farrell. Farrell wouldn't speculate on the severity of Ramirez's injury or how long he might miss.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) isn't playing Thursday, and he could follow Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) to the DL depending on how his tests check out. Prepare to be without him for a while in a worst-case scenario. Alejandro De Aza is starting in left field today against Baltimore Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez, but he shouldn't move your FantasyScore needle at all.
