Rams | Mark Clayton acquired

Mon, 06 Sep 2010 08:58:52 -0700

The St. Louis Rams have acquired WR Mark Clayton from the Baltimore Ravens for late-round considerations, reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Fantasy Tip: Clayton has teased fantasy football players for a number of years, but has never been able to consistently put it together. Once he picks up the offensive scheme in St. Louis, he could emerge as the team's No. 2 receiver opposite Laurent Robinson. Clayton is a late-round flier, and consider him no better than a WR6 entering the season. A new system and a rookie quarterback won't help his cause. His addition will eventually hurt WR Danny Amendola's potential in the offense.

Ravens | Reach agreement with T.J. Houshmandzadeh

Mon, 06 Sep 2010 05:31:59 -0700

The Baltimore Ravens have reached agreement with free-agent WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Seahawks) on a one-year deal worth $855,000, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: This one came out of left field, as the Ravens had already upgraded their wide receivers during the offseason. Houshmandzadeh should quickly step in as the team's No. 3 receiver behind Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason, whom should both lose receptions with Houshmandzadeh in the fold. Boldin should be considered a solid No. 2 fantasy football option, while Mason and Houshmandzadeh should be considered low-end No. 3 fantasy wideouts. WR Donte' Stallworth (foot), who is out until October, and Mark Clayton shouldn't be drafted.
