San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain (elbow) said an MRI done on his elbow did not show and structural damage and does not think he will need surgery on the elbow now or in the offseason. Cain received a cortisone shot before the All-Star break, but his elbow was still sore when the played catch. He is not sure when he will be able to rejoin the starting rotation.
Fantasy Tip: Owners in shallow leagues can consider dropping Cain if they need another player since his timetable in unknown. Deeper league owners should consider holding onto him in case he comes back in a few weeks.
