Mets | Lucas Duda, Kevin Plawecki out Sunday

Sun, 22 May 2016 08:30:57 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) and C Kevin Plawecki are not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson Sunday, May 22. INF Eric Campbell will bat seventh and play first base for the second consecutive day, while C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Both Campbell and Rivera are only worth using in daily fantasy games as desperation sources of salary cap relief this afternoon.

Mets | Rene Rivera to be paired with Thor

Wed, 11 May 2016 16:11:47 -0700

New York Mets C Rene Rivera will be the personal catcher for SP Noah Syndergaard for the foreseeable future in order to control the running game.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard's slow move toward home plate leaves him vulnerable to stolen bases. While that won't affect him too negatively in terms of fantasy value as an ace, it can put him in tough situations with runners in scoring position often. Thor remains a must-start, but consider using sleeper options for steals against him in daily formats.

Mets | David Wright, Kevin Plawecki out

Wed, 11 May 2016 15:56:15 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright and C Kevin Plawecki are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Kenta Maeda Wednesday, May 11. 3B Eric Campbell will start at third base and is batting seventh, while C Rene Rivera will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Campbell has found some success at the plate recently, but neither he nor Rivera should be a starting option in daily fantasy leagues.

Mets | David Wright sits out

Wed, 04 May 2016 07:19:43 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 4, with INF Wilmer Flores hitting seventh. C Kevin Plawecki is also out with C Rene Rivera hitting eighth. SS Asdrubal Cabrera moved up to hit second.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Flores nor Rivera are worth streaming against Jhoulys Chacin in DFS. Cabrera has a .307-1-7 line on the season and is a mediocre option in DFS.

Mets | Rene Rivera catching Saturday

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 10:16:33 -0700

New York Mets C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth against San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain Saturday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Rivera is starting instead of C Kevin Plawecki because the club is playing a day game following a night game. He should be viewed as nothing more than an inexpensive flier in daily fantasy contests.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud placed on DL

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 11:28:45 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right rotator cuff strain Tuesday, April 26, and the Mets purchased the contract of C Rene Rivera from Class AAA Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: A slow start (.196/.288/.261 with no home runs) just got even worse for d'Arnaud. This could be an injury that could require surgery and keep him out for an extended timeline, too, so stay tuned for updates. If you don't have the room to stash in shallow mixed leagues, you may be forced to drop him. Kevin Plawecki should see the majority of starts behind the plate but is nothing more than a second catcher in two-backstop leagues.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud set for shoulder exam

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 22:00:43 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) left the game Monday, April 25, against the Cincinnati Reds due to shoulder soreness. If he needs a stint on the 15-day disabled list, C Kevin Plawecki would be the regular backstop with C Rene Rivera coming up from Class AAA Las Vegas to serve as the backup.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud should be avoided in all NL-only fantasy leagues and DFS play until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Rays | Rene Rivera catching Saturday

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 11:53:25 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Rene Rivera will bat ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Rivera ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is batting just .162 with two RBIs in 74 at-bats since the All-Star break and is 4-for-38 against Toronto this season. FantasyScore owners should avoid using him Saturday.

Rays | J.P. Arencibia sitting out series finale

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 13:16:36 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C J.P. Arencibia is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 16. C Rene Rivera is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against New York Yankees SP Luis Severino Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Arencibia ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has exploded onto the scene in September for the Rays. He has a 1.142 OPS with five home runs and 15 RBI through 46 plate appearances. Still, he is nothing more than a flier for seasonal players, albeit one that could pay off down the stretch in the power categories. Rivera ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has an active 4-for-29 stretch and is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Wednesday.

Rays | Rene Rivera receives start

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 07:07:54 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Rene Rivera will start at catcher against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova Sunday, Sept. 6, and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Rivera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has been out of the lineup for the last several games but has received at-bats during those games. He is hitting .181 this season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.
