Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was nine pounds overweight earlier this offseason, so it's encouraging that he's done what he needed to do to get back into playing shape. He should be the Panthers' best option at wide receiver again this year. Take him as a WR2 in your fantasy drafts.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin gave some red flags with his lack of conditioning that led to hamstring issues this offseason. If he doesn't have any further setbacks, he's a good WR2 to target this season.

Fantasy Tip: Despite missing two games and playing on an ankle that was less than 100% at times, Newton still topped 500 rushing yards last season and scored five times. Those numbers are probably the floor for his rushing stats in 2015, and he has a great chance to finish among the top five fantasy scorers at the quarterback position.

Fantasy Tip: If Stewart can stay healthy, he could have his most productive season now that DeAngelo Williams is in Pittsburgh. However, his injury history suggests he will miss at least a few games. If you can land him as a RB3, he is worth the risk, but make sure you have an insurance policy.

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (toe) cited a toe injury for the reason his numbers were disappointing in his final season at the University of Michigan. "We never got to see the full Devin Funchess at Michigan because I did play one season at wide receiver, and I was battling through an injury," Funchess said Monday, June 29. Funchess said his toe injury was a torn ligament with some cracked bones and ruptured cartilage.
Fantasy Tip: Funchess is a player fantasy owners will not want to get too carried away with on draft day, saving him until the later rounds. He is a guy with a lot of upside. The Panthers aren't exactly deep at the receiver spot, so if he can live up to his potential and remain near the top of the depth chart he could see a big role in the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess is a rookie to watch in training camp, especially since Kelvin Benjamin came into OTAs overweight and injured his hamstring. Funchess is a WR5 target with some upside.

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown has developed into more than just a deep threat, according to TE Greg Olsen. "Last year at this time, Corey was a guy where we said, 'Wow, he's fast.' This year he is a receiver," Olsen said. "The guy can play. He's not just a one-trick pony, a guy who is just going to run deep. He has a lot of natural instinct to him. He has a good feel."
Fantasy Tip: Brown has big-play speed, and while he may be developing into a more complete receiver, he is unlikely to steal many looks with big targets like Kelvin Benjamin, Greg Olsen and Devin Funchess in town. He is final-round flier at best in seasonal leagues, but he could make a nice high-risk, high-reward gamble in DFS games if one of Carolina's top receivers happens to miss a game during the year.

Carolina Panthers LB Shaq Thompson said the move to full-time linebacker has been going well. Thompson has only played SAM and WILL linebacker so far, but he has had discussion with the coaching staff about playing a hybrid role in nickel packages because of his experience at safety.

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin's reported weight gain this offseason is being overblown, according to general manager Dave Gettleman. Gettleman expects Benjamin to be ready to go for training camp next month. A team source said Benjamin, who played at 245 pounds as a rookie last year, showed up to workouts in April nine pounds overweight. "It really is much ado about nothing. Right now he's only five pounds off his playing weight. That's it," Gettleman said after the team wrapped up their three-day minicamp. Benjamin has had weight problems before, as he took a redshirt year in college after being 20 pounds overweight. He had 73 catches for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns in 2014, but he missed 10 of 14 practices during organized team activities and minicamp with injuries to both his hamstrings.
Fantasy Tip: Injuries to his legs already in offseason workouts and reports of weight gain aren't what you want to hear from an impressive rookie looking to improve in his second season. However, it's still early in the offseason, and Benjamin should be viewed as a strong WR2 in fantasy leagues heading into draft season.
