Chicago Bears news, rumors and injuries

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) ran nine times for 50 yards, splitting time with RB Jordan Howard in the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team said in the offseason they would use a running back by committee approach, rolling with the hot hand, and that's what they did.
Fantasy Tip: Carey has plenty of talent, and he outperformed Howard who was coming off two 100-yard rushing games. Carey is worth stashing away on reserve if you need help at the running backs position, or if you're a nervous Howard owner. RBBCs are not a favorite of fantasy owners, and it looks like one is shaping up in the Windy City.

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard was outrushed by RB Ka'Deem Carey in the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Howard ran for 34 yards on 15 carries, while Carey had 50 yards on nine rushes. Howard had a drop in the red zone on one of his targets, and the team said during the offseason that they would go with the hot hand. The team made a concerted effort to mix in multiple backs and share the carries.
Fantasy Tip: Howard recently hit the century mark in rushing yardage in a pair of games, but apparently nothing is guaranteed in Chicago and he'll have to continue to earn that No. 1 job even after recent success. This is maddening for fantasy owners who thought they had mined a gem.

Chicago Bears CB Deiondre' Hall (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 19, and has been ruled out for Week 7. DL Eddie Goldman (ankle) and OT Josh Sitton (ankle) did not practice and are doubtful to play. LB Sam Acho (ribs), CB Bryce Callahan (hamstring), RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring), LB Leonard Floyd (calf), LB Jerrell Freeman (wrist) and CB Tracy Porter were limited and are questionable to play.

Fantasy Tip: If Miller is active then he's a fringe TE1 against a Packers defense that has been subpar against tight ends so far this year. Plus, Miller has been targeted 18 times over his last two games and has scored three times in his last four games. That's the Brian Hoyer effect.

Fantasy Tip: Jordan Howard will get the start again, but he's facing a tough run defense and will be running behind a hampered offensive line. Howard is still worth a start, but expectations should be lowered Thursday night.
Wed, 19 Oct 2016 13:44:34 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Brian Hoyer will start once again and should be throwing plenty against a defense that is much worse against the pass than against the run. Hoyer has thrown for 300 yards in four straight games, too. He's a low-end QB1 to high-end QB2.

Fantasy Tip: As was the case last week when Royal played, Alshon Jeffery and Cameron Meredith will be Chicago's two main receivers. The Bears may be forced to pass a lot versus a stingy rush defense, so view Jeffery as a high-end WR2 and Meredith as a WR3.

Chicago Bears LB Sam Acho (non-injury), DL Eddie Goldman (ankle), CB Deiondre' Hall (ankle), CB Tracy Porter (knee) and OG Josh Sitton (ankle) did not practice Tuesday, Oct. 18. RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring), LB Leonard Floyd (calf) and LB Jerrell Freeman (wrist) were limited.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear exactly when Langford will be able to return, but Jordan Howard has done well as the starter in his stead. Howard does have a tougher matchup this week, however, against the Green Bay Packers. Plus, the Bears just lost one of their starting offensive guards. Howard should still be started, but he's a low-end RB2 at best this week.
Tue, 18 Oct 2016 12:41:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cutler can take his time as far as the Bears and fantasy owners are concerned. Brian Hoyer has excelled in Cutler's absence and has turned into an every-week starter consideration. Green Bay has been mediocre at best versus quarterbacks in 2016, so there's no reason to ditch Hoyer this week.
Tue, 18 Oct 2016 12:36:57 -0700
Fantasy Tip: That's back-to-back no shows for Royal so far this week. If he doesn't practice Wednesday then that could mean a doubtful status for Thursday night's game against the Green Bay Packers. Even if Royal does play, he's the Bears' No. 3 receiver and should not be viewed as a reliable starter.
Tue, 18 Oct 2016 12:31:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Keep tabs on Miller's status leading up to Thursday night's contest with the Green Bay Packers. If he does play then he is a borderline TE1. The Packers have been weak versus tight end this year and Miller has played well with Brian Hoyer.

Chicago Bears OG Josh Sitton (ankle) is expected to miss "some time" with an ankle injury, according to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs. C Ted Larsen, who replaced Sitton at left guard after he was injured in Week 6, or C Eric Kush are expected to replace him in the lineup in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Not bad for a backup quarterback eh? Hoyer has taken the starting job from Jay Cutler and run away with it. It seems unlikely that Cutler would retain the starting position when he returns to good health. Hoyer's success can't be ignored. He's a low-end QB1 to high-end QB2 this week facing a subpar Green Bay Packers pass defense.

Chicago Bears CB Bryce Callahan (hamstring), DL Eddie Goldman (ankle), CB Deiondre' Hall (ankle), CB Tracy Porter (knee) and OT Josh Sitton (ankle) did not practice Monday, Oct. 17. LB Sam Acho (ribs), RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring), LB Leonard Floyd (calf) and LB Jerrell Freeman (wrist) were limited. This practice report is an estimation as the Packers did not practice.
