Dallas Cowboys news, rumors and injuries

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) will wear added Nike Combat gear protection in his undershirt if he plays in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. He has worn a rib protector since he became the starter and when he suffered a punctured lung and broken rib, it was protected by Kevlar. Head coach Jason Garrett has no rules against a player playing on game day without practicing all week.
Fantasy Tip: Romo sounds like a true game-time decision in Week 9. It's smart to stay away from him at FantasyScore and all other fantasy football leagues.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) missed his third straight day of practice Friday, Oct. 31, and he'll have to be able to move better before being allowed to play in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Jason Garrett said the team doesn't need to know before Sunday, Nov. 2, if Romo can play. Romo has had treatment on his back all week, but he hasn't done any football activities. QB Brandon Weeden would receive the start if Romo can't play.
Fantasy Tip: An entire week of missed practice typically doesn't bode well for a player's status on Sunday. Romo ($7,300; 14.6% of cap) is a big risk at FantasyScore, even if he suits up against the Cardinals. You can ignore Weeden if he plays.

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) didn't take part in the walk-through Thursday, Oct. 30, and will not practice with the team. However, head coach Jason Garrett remains hopeful that Romo can play in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. "He's not ruled out for this game by any means," Garrett said. "He's getting himself mentally ready. He's in the meetings. He's a part of our football team, and hopefully as the week goes on, it feels better and he can function and it'll give him a chance to play." Romo and the team continue to say that his injury is not related to his disc problem that he had surgery on last year. Romo said he'd play if the question is only about pain tolerance. Garrett said the team is calling the injury a bone contusion. The Cowboys are looking into modifications for Romo's pads if he is to play Sunday, Nov. 2.
Fantasy Tip: At this point, Romo could very well be a game-time decision against the Cardinals. At a price of $7,300 (14.6% of cap), it's probably not worth investing in him at FantasyScore this week.

Fantasy Tip: Romo may be a game-time decision for Week 9, so owners will need to monitor his status. Romo costs $7,300 on FantasyScore but will be a risky play for owners.

Fantasy Tip: Romo probably does not have to do a lot during practice this week to be ready for Week 9. Owners will need to monitor the situation over the next few days to have a better idea on his status. Owners would have to spend $7,300 on Romo at FantasyScore this week but may want to look for a healthier option to use.

Fantasy Tip: Romo could be a game-time decision for Week 9, so owners should track his situation during the week. Romo costs $7,300 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to use their money on a healthier option. Weeden would get the start if Romo is not able to play and would be a desperation sleeper option for owners.
