Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch could become a starting quarterback a lot sooner than most people believe, according to general manager John Elway. "Is that going to happen tomorrow? Probably not, but you never know when it can happen," Elway said. "We think he's going to be ready quicker than a lot of people think." Elway said the team selected Lynch because of his athletic ability and strong arm.
Fantasy Tip: Lynch is expected to compete for the starting job during training camp but is not the favorite for the job. He could see playing time in 2016 if Mark Sanchez struggles early. Lynch will not be a strong fantasy option if he plays this upcoming season but should be valuable in keeper leagues.

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch is a player that head coach Gary Kubiak is excited about, but Kubiak said Lynch has a long way to go before he can be a starting quarterback. Kubiak indicated Lynch looked a little overwhelmed during practice Friday, May 6, but believes Lynch will pick things up quickly.
Fantasy Tip: Lynch should have a chance to compete for the starting quarterback job, but Mark Sanchez probably will be the favorite entering training camp. Lynch would not be a great fantasy option if he wins the starting job and would be a No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues. Lynch should be valuable in keeper leagues since he should start in a year or two.

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch took all of his snaps under center during practice Friday, May 6. Lynch played in a spread offense over the last few seasons but has been working under center since his 2015 season at Memphis ended. He said he is familiar with the offense since it is similar to what Memphis used when he was a freshman, but the terminology is more complicated.
Fantasy Tip: It is believed that Lynch will be given the chance to compete for the starting job during training camp, but he probably will need some time before he is ready to start in the NFL. Lynch could be an attractive option in keeper leagues but would not be a great option in standard leagues even if he wins the starting job.

Denver Broncos franchise free-agent CB Von Miller said he wants to sign a long-term contract that will keep him in Denver for the rest of his career. "I'm going to be here in Denver no matter what," Miller said. "The contract is going to take care of itself. I'm going to be a Denver Bronco for life." However, Miller isn't expected to show up for workouts this week.

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez still views himself as a starting quarterback and believes Denver drafting QB Paxton Lynch was affirmation of his starting status. "Absolutely, that's the message I've received," Sanchez said. "I'm thrilled with the opportunity." Sanchez hasn't let Lynch or any potential trades change his focus. "I just kind of learned with time, who knows what's going to happen and who cares? What are you supposed to do? Meet your teammates, develop a relationship with them, learn the playbook, get involved in the community, that's it, those three things."
Fantasy Tip: Sanchez is certainly approaching this situation with maturity. He's probably the safer option as a starting quarterback for Denver, at least in 2016. Lynch appears to be the quarterback of the future. Neither Sanchez nor Lynch should be regarded as a starting fantasy quarterback this season, though.

Fantasy Tip: Booker figures to be more of a long-term option than Ronnie Hillman, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Booker take over as the third-down back. He is worth a late-round flier in PPR formats.

Fantasy Tip: Booker is of the same running back mold as Ronnie Hillman, and he gives the Broncos more versatility in the backfield. C.J. Anderson will still be the main man, and Hillman will play a significant complementary role, but Booker is a good deep sleeper consideration with more value in PPR formats.

Free-agent QB Brian Hoyer (Texans) is not a part of the Denver Broncos' immediate plans. The Broncos informed Hoyer Friday, April 29, that they will not be signing him. Denver will stick with three quarterbacks for now because general manager John Elway wants QBs Mark Sanchez, Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian to receive as many repetitions as possible.
Fantasy Tip: Sanchez does have the edge right now and is the safer starting option for the Broncos in 2016. It's important for Lynch to become acclimated to Denver's offense and the feel of the NFL this year. Lynch is likely the future of Denver's quarterback position, but his growth process will take some time. Sanchez is not a QB1 and should only be started as a bye-week replacement in good matchups.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez should be considered the frontrunner to open the year as the starter, but he would be a lower-end QB2. Lynch has intriguing potential in dynasty and keeper leagues, but he may need at least a year to develop.

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford are unlikely to be pursued by the Denver Broncos after the team selected QB Paxton Lynch with the 26th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, but Denver could still add a veteran quarterback at some point.
Fantasy Tip: Lynch is no lock to start as a rookie, and even if he does beat out Mark Sanchez for the starting gig, he would be a low-end QB2.
