Broncos | Paxton Lynch works with first team

Tue, 31 May 2016 19:57:07 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch continues to make progress as he gets comfortable during organized team activities (OTAs). Head coach Gary Kubiak has continued to divide the first-team snaps for the quarterbacks three ways between Lynch, QB Mark Sanchez and QB Trevor Siemian.

Fantasy Tip: The team invested plenty to grab Lynch in the first round of the NFL Draft this spring and he is the apparent future, but he has a long way to go before unseating the veteran Sanchez for the starting gig. If he is able to work his way into the starting job, having Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders on the receiving end of his passes will make him an attractive QB2 in most fantasy formats.

Broncos | Mark Sanchez tests thumb in OTAs

Tue, 31 May 2016 19:55:41 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez (thumb) went through a full workload in team and seven-on-seven periods Tuesday, May 31, during organized team activities (OTAs). "We'll get eight or nine (days) of good work with him under center," head coach Gary Kubiak said. Sanchez, QB Trevor Siemian and QB Paxton Lynch each split the first-team snaps three ways.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez is trying to fend off the first-round draft pick Lynch and Siemian for the starting quarterback job in Denver. Sanchez obviously has the most experience and would be a decent No. 2 QB in fantasy with Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders at his disposal.

Broncos | Virgil Green works on the side

Tue, 31 May 2016 19:54:52 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green (finger) participated during the individuals drills at organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 31, and then he worked off to the side. He is recovering from surgery on his finger.

Fantasy Tip: Green is known more for his blocking prowess than his pass-catching ability, but he, veteran Garrett Graham or Jeff Heuerman could see more responsibilities catching the ball unless the team looks outside of the organization to fortify the position. One might emerge as a useful low-end fantasy option if the roster remains the same into the season.

Broncos | Brandon Marshall working out

Tue, 31 May 2016 19:54:12 -0700

Denver Broncos LB Brandon M. Marshall (finger) continued to work out on the side after taking part in individual drills during organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 31. He is making his way back from finger surgery. Head coach Gary Kubiak expects Marshall to be ready soon, and he might even see the field during OTAs.

Broncos | Cody Latimer arrested

Tue, 31 May 2016 16:07:53 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer was arrested Monday, May 30, for failing to pay a one-year old traffic ticket. The wide receiver shelled out $311.50 to resolve the situation. Latimer originally called police as the alleged victim of a domestic dispute.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look like either incident will cause Latimer to miss any significant time. He'll still compete for the Broncos' No. 3 wide receiver position, but he shouldn't be drafted as more than a WR5.

Broncos | Brandon Marshall open to one-year deal

Tue, 31 May 2016 13:42:31 -0700

Denver Broncos LB Brandon M. Marshall is prepared to sign his one-year restricted free agent tender for $2.533 million even though he wants a long-term contract. "I have no problem playing the deal out," Marshall said. "But I want to be here long-term, so that's what I'm working towards."

Broncos | DeMarcus Ware likely to miss most of OTAs

Tue, 31 May 2016 12:15:07 -0700

Denver Broncos DE DeMarcus Ware (back) is expected to miss most of organized team activities with his back ailment, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak is hopeful that Ware will be able to get a couple of practice sessions in, though.

Broncos | Jeff Heuerman limited

Tue, 31 May 2016 12:08:42 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman (hamstring) has been limited in organized team activities with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Much is expected of Heuerman this year after he missed all of his rookie season with a torn ACL. He'll still be competing with Virgil Green and Garrett Graham, though, and is not a starting fantasy tight end.

Broncos | Denver quarterbacks playing evenly

Tue, 31 May 2016 11:59:37 -0700

Denver Broncos QBs Mark Sanchez, Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian have been dividing repetitions down the middle, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak said it's an unusual situation, but that all three are good players.

Fantasy Tip: This quarterback battle really could come down to the final preseason game. Sanchez is probably the favorite for now considering his experience, but none of the three should be considered starting caliber in fantasy leagues.

Broncos | Devontae Booker participating

Tue, 31 May 2016 10:52:18 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (knee) is taking 7-on-7 repetitions in practice this week, which is a good sign for his knee.

Fantasy Tip: Booker has serious upside in the NFL in his rookie season despite being behind C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. He has the athleticism to be a three-down back quickly, but he must prove that his knee is healthy. He's off to a good start and is worth a late-round flier in fantasy drafts with WR3 potential right away.

Broncos | Trevor Siemian has chance to start

Mon, 30 May 2016 21:05:58 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian is considered a sleeper for the starting quarterback job, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. "I think Trevor has a maturity to him. He's kind of the sleeper, I would say. Trevor knows the offense. He's very comfortable and can throw the ball, too," Kubiak said Monday, May 30. "We've also seen him make big plays in the preseason games under the lights. I wouldn't sleep on Trevor to win the job, either."

Fantasy Tip: It will be a tall order for Siemian to leapfrog veteran Mark Sanchez and first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch, but he is still considered a candidate. If he were to win the job he would be a QB2, at best, in most fantasy formats.

Broncos | Possible figures for Paxton Lynch

Sat, 28 May 2016 12:54:21 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch's four-year rookie contract is expected to earn him around $9.5 million. It was reported earlier that Lynch's agent believes a deal will be completed soon.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is still in the learning process of his professional career, of course, and he may stay there throughout the 2016 season. Mark Sanchez is the likely favorite to start for the Broncos. That being said, Lynch, Sanchez nor Trevor Siemian is worth drafting as a starting fantasy quarterback.

Broncos | Denver has two No. 3 WR candidates

Fri, 27 May 2016 14:22:16 -0700

Denver Broncos WRs Cody Latimer and Bennie Fowler are expected to compete for the No. 3 wide receiver job during training camp. Latimer has performed well during offseason workouts during the last few seasons but has not recorded great numbers during the regular season. Fowler had a decent role in the passing game in 2015 but injuries and inconsistency dropped him on the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Fowler has posted better numbers during his career, but Latimer was drafted higher and has performed well during offseason workouts. The Broncos probably will decide the winner of the competition at some point during the preseason, but the winner likely would only be a late-round option in most leagues.
