Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning has struggled against current Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles in the past, throwing eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in five meetings with Bowles-coached defenses.
Fantasy Tip: Manning is the closest thing to a matchup-proof quarterback, but Bowles' defenses have at least held him in check, and the Cardinals have excellent personnel in their secondary. Manning's $8,800 salary (17.8% of cap) is the second-highest of any player at the position, and he could struggle to live up to the hefty price tag in Week 5.

Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib has been fined $8,268 by the NFL for his unnecessary roughness penalty against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. Talib supposedly dropped his elbow into a Seattle player during the fourth quarter and was penalized 12 yards.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has one touchdown catch this year and four dropped passes. Thomas had five dropped passes all of last season. "I just haven't been consistent, and it bothers me," Thomas said. "I think about it, I keep practicing hard, doing the things I need to do. I want to make it right." Thomas has been bothered by a left foot injury at times, but he hasn't missed any practice time and has played 93 percent of the offensive snaps through three games.
Fantasy Tip: Thomas has disappointed his owners so far, no doubt about that. But it's still early, and the Broncos' bye week probably couldn't come at a better time for Thomas. Expect better production coming off the bye and for the rest of the season.

Denver Broncos LB Danny Trevathan (knee) is expected to be back at practice with the team next week, according to head coach John Fox. Trevathan said he'd be at around 75 percent for practice next Tuesday after the bye week, and his goal is to play in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Sanders should be in lineups on a weekly basis, although the Broncos are on bye in Week 4. Sanders could see his targets drop slightly, though, now that Wes Welker is back in action.

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball is averaging 3.4 yards per carry this season, and the team is averaging almost 42 fewer rushing yards per game than a year ago. Ball said Monday, Sept. 22, that the team will focus on fixing the run game heading into the bye week. "Right now, we need a lot of work on it," Ball said. "It starts up front, starts with the tight ends, and with the running backs too. Collectively, we all need to sit down and focus on it, and I believe we will."
Fantasy Tip: Peyton Manning and the Denver passing attack have remained stout this season so it seems like only a matter of time before Ball starts to put up some big numbers. However, the Broncos return to action in Week 5 against an Arizona team that has stuffed the run this season so any improvements that Ball and company make in the off week may not pay immediate dividends.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas finished with four catches for just 31 yards in the team's Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but QB Peyton Manning targeted him nine times in the game. Thomas dropped a pass and had a big gain taken back by a penalty. He has caught nine passes for 110 yards and a touchdown through three games this year, and he has been very inconsistent so far. "I really can't tell. It was a fast game," said Thomas when asked if the Seahawks' coverage led to his decreased numbers. "I had an opportunity to make plays and didn't. I feel like I had my chances. I have to make my plays. Two plays that I had my hands on the ball, they broke up. But I feel like I have to come down with those." He continues to say that contract talks haven't been a distraction. Thomas also dealt with foot and ankle issues in Week 3, but he refused to use it as an excuse.
Fantasy Tip: It's been a slow start for Thomas, but you'll have to remain patient in standard leagues. He has a Week 4 bye and then has a tough matchup against the outstanding corners of the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (foot) left the Week 3 game in the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks due to a foot injury. He has reportedly been dealing with the injury for a while. He limped off, was evaluated by the training staff, and was able to return.
Fantasy Tip: Thomas' injury is one to watch. If he cannot make it through the rest of the game, Emmanuel Sanders and Julius Thomas might pick up a few extra targets.

Fantasy Tip: Welker ($3,700; 7.4% of your cap) is a bargain buy on FantasyScore this week, but one has to wonder how much he'll produce as the fourth or fifth option in the offense.
