Broncos | Paxton Lynch will play full game

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 14:17:17 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch will play the entire game against the Arizona Cardinals Thursday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is the one guy the Broncos need a better feel for, especially if he's going to be the backup behind an unproven quarterback in Trevor Siemian. Lynch will have minimal fantasy value as a backup, naturally, but he shouldn't be completely off the fantasy radar incase Siemian doesn't work out.

Broncos | Trevor Siemian named the starter

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 08:18:12 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian was informed he won the starting quarterback position and will start against the Carolina Panthers Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Siemian beat out Mark Sanchez and Paxton Lynch for the gig. Siemian is 27-for-43 (62.7%) for 285 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The team isn't going to ask him to do a lot with the offense because of the talent in the running game and on defense. However, he has talent at receiver, and he's a midrange QB2 in fantasy.

Broncos | Cody Latimer to undergo MRI exam

Sun, 28 Aug 2016 07:10:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer (knee) is expected to undergo an MRI exam on his knee Sunday, Aug. 28, although the injury is not believed to be serious. He is considered to be day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Latimer appeared to be on the bubble to make the team before getting injured. Even if he does crack the 53-man roster, he is unlikely to be more than a fourth or fifth receiver, so he should be avoided in the vast majority of seasonal fantasy leagues.

Broncos | Trevor Siemian so-so in extended duty

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 22:06:18 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian started the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Los Angeles Rams, completing 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 122 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Fantasy Tip: Siemian didn't look particularly sharp, but he didn't make many errors. He remains ahead of rookie Paxton Lynch, and the Broncos didn't even bother to play Mark Sanchez. Siemian appears poised to win the team's starting quarterback job. If it is made official, he is still nothing more than a low-end QB2 out of the chute.

Broncos | Mark Sanchez doesn't play vs. LA

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 21:47:32 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez did not play in the team's third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Los Angeles Rams. If the team elects to cut him, they save $4.5 million and a seventh-round draft pick.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez hasn't stepped up and seized the chance in Denver, falling behind Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch with the usual comedy of errors during his first two preseason games. It appears his time is over in Denver, and he is no longer a fantasy option whether he sticks around or finds work elsewhere.

Broncos | Cody Latimer injures his knee

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 21:34:34 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer (knee) suffered a knee injury in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Los Angeles Rams. He was unable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Latimer was competing for a roster spot and an injury cannot help him. Even if he is able to make the squad he will be nothing more than a No. 4 or 5 receiver with few targets, so avoid him for fantasy purposes unless you're in a 16-team league with deep benches.

Broncos | Paxton Lynch to be No. 2 QB Saturday

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 17:24:18 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian will draw the start against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, Aug. 27, and will be followed by rookie QB Paxton Lynch and then QB Mark Sanchez.

Fantasy Tip: This was somewhat expected after Sanchez lost two fumbles in limited action during last weekend's preseason loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and pretty much slams the door on his chances to open the season as the starter. There is also reason to believe Lynch may have a shot to open the season as the starter, especially if he shines in the snaps he sees with the first team Saturday. Siemian is obviously the favorite now, but it seems obvious owners should not be looking for a QB2 in this mess of a situation.

Broncos | Trevor Siemian expected to start?

Thu, 25 Aug 2016 19:27:05 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian has already locked up the starting quarterback job, in the opinion of beat writer Jeff Legwold.

Fantasy Tip: If Siemian is officially named the starter, he will take the reins of an offense with plenty of weapons and could be worth a look in two-quarterback leagues.

Broncos | Bennie Fowler shooting for Week 1

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 19:12:29 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Bennie Fowler (elbow) showed up at practice Wednesday, Aug. 24, without a brace on his right elbow for the first time since fracturing it in a preseason game against the Chicago Bears two weeks ago. He was able to do some running before practice. He and the team are shooting for a return for the regular season opener Thursday, Sept. 8, against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Fowler had a nice summer and was believed to be making great strides toward being the No. 3 receiver behind Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders before the injury. For now, he should only be treated as a WR5 in deeper fantasy leagues.

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 19:11:45 -0700

Denver Broncos TEs Manasseh Garner, Henry Krieger-Coble and John Phillips are competing for a roster spot behind TEs Virgil Green and oft-injured Jeff Heuerman (hamstring).

Broncos | Jeff Heuerman unlikely for Saturday

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 19:10:53 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman (hamstring) has missed most of the past week of practice due to a hamstring injury and he is unlikely to play in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Los Angeles Rams. "I'm concerned because we're counting on him a great deal, but more so his ability to stay healthy and stay on the field," head coach Gary Kubiak said Wednesday, Aug. 24. "Last year he went through the issues; he's had hamstring issues throughout OTAs. He was on a pretty good rolle there, and here we go again."

Fantasy Tip: Heuerman was considered a co-No. 1 tight end with Virgil Green entering camp, but he likely has slipped to No. 2 status since he hasn't been on the field to contribute. Avoid him for fantasy purposes unless he is able to return and make a big splash sooner rather than later.
