Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford is capable of more in offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi's offense, and Lombardi wants Stafford to take more chances at big plays in 2015. "Our biggest thing is, in order to win football games, you've got to first not lose them, and I thought that he played smart football, and sometimes to a fault," Lombardi said. "We'll look for him to maybe take a few more chances this year with the football. He's got the arm to do it. He's got the receivers to throw it to." However, head coach Jim Caldwell said recently that the team is unlikely to throw more than they did in 2014, and he doesn't think Stafford needs to take a huge leap forward for the offense to be successful.
Fantasy Tip: Stafford had the second best completion percentage (60.3%) of his career, and he also had a career-low 12 interceptions in 2014. However, he only had 602 attempts and 22 touchdowns, down from 29 TDs in 2013. Injuries to Calvin Johnson likely hurt Stafford's totals for much of the year, too. Another year in Lombardi's system should see improvement for Stafford, and Megatron is still at his disposal, making him a midrange QB1 with some upside.

Fantasy Tip: The son of former Lions WR Brett Perriman made waves with his 4.27-second 40-yard dash time at his Pro Day. That would have been the fastest time at the NFL Scouting Combine if Perriman wasn't shelved due to a hamstring injury. Perriman could be a first-round pick and could become a nice WR5 flyer depending on where he lands.

The Detroit Lions are expecting TE Eric Ebron to make a big jump from his rookie season to year number two. "Ebron's the guy we're counting on to be that (No. 3 option)," offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said Tuesday, March 31.
Fantasy Tip: Ebron is expected to take a giant leap, serving as the No. 3 receiver behind Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. If he is able to live up to expectations he could be a huge steal on draft day. Right now, he is best targeted in the late middle rounds, but with a strong training camp and preseason his value could bump up even more.

Fantasy Tip: Riddick is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, but he hasn't shown a lot in the running game yet. He could wind up being an RB3 with upside in PPR formats.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford won't be throwing more than he did last season, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell said if the Lions are throwing a lot, it could very well mean they'll be playing catch up, something he wants to avoid.
Fantasy Tip: Stafford "only" had 602 pass attempts in 2014, fewer than the three previous years. The one drawback to Stafford's game is that he doesn't throw a lot of touchdowns, which has hindered his maximum potential as far as fantasy football is concerned. He's still a No. 1 QB option, however, especially with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate at his disposal.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron was limited to 248 receiving yards and one touchdown this past season, but he could have a bigger role next season. Owners should consider Ebron as a No. 2 tight end entering drafts next season.

Detroit Lions LB Tahir Whitehead could compete with LB Kyle Van Noy and possibly LB Josh Bynes for the starting strongside linebacker job during training camp. Whitehead could be used as the backup at middle linebacker.

Detroit Lions LB Stephen Tulloch (knee) will be the starting middle linebacker when he is able to return from his torn anterior cruciate ligament. Tulloch is making good progress in his rehab but may sit out offseason workouts.
