Fantasy Tip: Abdullah figures to be the lead back in a committee with Theo Riddick and Stevan Ridley. Abdullah is safest as a high-end RB3, but he could be an RB2 before all is said and done.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford believes his offense will be tougher to defend without former WR Calvin Johnson. Stafford said defenses won't know who the Lions will go to on offense, whereas most of the time in previous years Johnson was their go-to guy.
Fantasy Tip: Golden Tate takes over as the No. 1 wide receiver in Detroit, and he's a WR2 candidate in 2016. Marvin Jones figures to be the No. 2 receiver, but he shouldn't be viewed as more than a WR4 with WR3 upside.

Detroit Lions S Isaiah N. Johnson, SS Rafael Bush, CB Tavon Wilson and SS Miles Killebrew have all practiced with the first-team defense this offseason, according to general manager Bob Quinn. Quinn said the battle for starting strong safety is an intriguing one, but it was reported earlier that Bush may have the edge with his experience.

Fantasy Tip: Roberts will need a solid preseason in order to make the 53-man roster. He likely would be the No. 4 or No. 5 receiver if he makes the team and would see limited targets. Roberts could be a late-round option in deeper leagues but likely will be on the waiver wire in most leagues.

Detroit Lions WRs Jeremy Kerley (undisclosed) and T.J. Jones are expected to compete for the No. 3 receiver job during training camp even though Kerley missed some offseason workouts because of an undisclosed injury.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Kerley or Jones has an advantage in the competition, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. Neither player likely will be a strong fantasy option. but the winner should have some value as a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Detroit Lions CB Darius Slay said he would like to sign an extension that will reward him for being one of the top seven cornerbacks in the league. Preliminary talks have taken place, but Slay didn't know the status of the talks. Slay is entering his fourth year, and his rookie deal has an option for a fifth year.
