Colts | Head coach praises Josh Ferguson

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 14:57:11 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Josh Ferguson is a man of many talents, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. "He's smart. He picks things up in a hurry. He's very, very athletic," Pagano said. "He's a great receiver out of the backfield. We can split him wide, we can displace him formationally. He's a mismatch out in space. He's got juice. He can go. He's got great vision."

Fantasy Tip: Ferguson can essentially do everything under the sun in Pagano's eyes. The undrafted back has made a name for himself this offseason, and he could give the Colts a nice complement to Frank Gore if he keeps it up. His fantasy value is still minimal right now, but you can do worse than taking him as a prospective RB4 in PPR formats.

Colts | Frank Gore wants 1,000 yards

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 12:10:20 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Frank Gore is eyeing the 1,000-yard mark in 2016 at 33 years old. Gore is more determined this year after just missing 1,000 rushing yards last season at 967 yards. "I just have to start taking care of my body, eating healthy, start training to get myself ready and to try to go get it," Gore said.

Fantasy Tip: Intentions and goals are all well and good, but history has not been kind to starting running backs at Gore's age. If he can play a full season, he'll have a chance, but he should still be drafted as an RB3.

Colts | Donte Moncrief running routes

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 10:35:29 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief (toe) began running routes earlier this week for the first time since his toe surgery earlier this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Moncrief's timetable isn't crystal clear at this point, but he may be somewhat limited in training camp if the Colts want to limit risk of aggravation. If he's full-go by the regular season, though, then he's worth a WR2 selection.

Colts | Josh Ferguson impressing in OTAs

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 19:10:13 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Josh Ferguson has impressed with his quickness in workouts, and head coach Chuck Pagano called him a "mismatch" in space and "not just a third-down back."

Fantasy Tip: Ferguson has to make the roster, but he could add some needed explosiveness to the Colts' backfield. He could make a decent late-round gamble in PPR formats.

Colts | Andrew Luck on the move more?

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 09:39:43 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck will be on the move more in 2016, and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski and quarterbacks coach Brian Schottenheimer want to design more plays that can use Luck's athleticism outside of the pocket. Protecting Luck remains of utmost importance, though, and the Colts believe they have the personnel to do that. The Colts have used more rollouts in offseason practices.

Fantasy Tip: Designed rollouts are different from having Luck escape the pocket to use his legs for extra yards. The Colts have made it clear that they'd like their QB to avoid as many hits as possible after he sustained a serious injury in 2015 and missed a large chunk of time. With better protection and full health, Luck could easily be one of, if not the most, valuable fantasy quarterbacks.

Colts | Andrew Luck is a full participant

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 20:19:18 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (abdomen, kidney) made all of his throws and looked in complete command during organized team activities (OTAs) after rehabilitation from a lacerated kidney. "He's got a lot in his mind he wants to prove," quarterbacks coach Brian Schottenheimer said.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has a chip on his shoulder after an injury-marred 2015, and that's not good for the opposition. It is good for a returning T.Y. Hilton, and, of course, prospective fantasy owners. Luck won't go in the first round, but he could intrigue fantasy owners starting at the end of Round 2 when looking for that bona fide No. 1 fantasy signal caller with something to prove.

Colts | O-line coming together in Indy

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 20:18:45 -0700

Indianapolis Colts OT Anthony Castonzo is expected to start at left tackle with OG Jack Mewhort at left guard and C Ryan Kelly in the middle. Two jobs remain up for grabs, as OT Joe Reitz is the incumbent at right tackle, although OT Le'Raven Clark might contend. OG Hugh Thornton (ankle) appears to have a leg up at the right guard spot, but he has missed time in the spring with an ankle injury. OLs Denzelle Good, Jonotthan Harrison and rookie Joe Haeg are also in the mix.

Colts | Brian Tyms stands out in spring

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 20:18:04 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Brian Tyms stood out during organized team activities (OTAs), as he is locked in a battle for one of the two receiver spots behind WRs T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett. Beat writer Zak Keefer noted Tyms emerged from the pack of contenders for the No. 4 job, and he boasts size at 6-foot-3 that the team lacks among their top three receivers. The team expects to keep as many as six receivers.

Fantasy Tip: Tyms could be an intriguing fantasy sleeper if he is able to nail down the No. 4 job in Indy, as he could really be a weapon in the red zone. Stay tuned.

Colts | Veteran Robert Mathis looking good

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 20:17:35 -0700

Indianapolis Colts DE Robert Mathis (Achilles') is fully recovered from a torn Achilles' tendon which kept him out in 2014, and with limited playing time in 2015. He has been a full participant in the team's offseason program, save for a few days he was held out for rest. Beat writer Zak Keefer noted he looked fast and ready when on the field.

Colts | Andrew Luck learning to slide

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 18:55:09 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is reluctantly accepting the fact that he needs to slide when he leaves the pocket, OT Anthony Castonzo said.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has the potential to be the top fantasy quarterback, but he can't help owners if he is sitting on the sidelines. He should be one of the first quarterbacks selected in drafts in 2016.

Colts | Andrew Luck feels he is a better QB

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 18:44:09 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is improving with every practice, head coach Chuck Pagano said, and Luck said he is "physically and mentally" a better quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries ruined Luck's 2015 season, but he should still be viewed as a top-five fantasy quarterback in 2016.

Colts | Andrew Luck deal not imminent

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 09:46:39 -0700

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's next contract needs to work for both sides, and nothing is imminent yet, according to owner Jim Irsay. The team has set a soft deadline for training camp in July to get a deal done.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is expected to land the richest deal in NFL history, but a lot has changed from a fantasy perspective in a calendar year. He's coming off an injury-riddled season, and his weapons around him are pretty questionable. He still has the talent to keep him in the top-three picks at the position.

Colts | Andrew Luck progressing toward deal

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 11:46:48 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is making progress toward a blockbuster extension, sources say, which is expected to be finalized in July. The deal is expected to make Luck the highest-paid player in league history, and he could reach $25 million annually.

Fantasy Tip: Luck figures to get paid handsomely, but there are plenty of questions about the personnel around him. The offensive line was one of the worst last year, and he doesn't have a big security blanket in the running game or proven targets after T.Y. Hilton. Luck still has the talent that should make him one of the top three QBs drafted in fantasy.
