Colts | Andre Johnson comfortable in offense

Thu, 21 May 2015 05:52:02 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson has made a "pretty seamless" transition to the offense, and he has a strong grasp of the playbook, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. Johnson took snaps with the starters during organized team activities Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: While Johnson is joining a crowded receiving corps, he still projects to have a significant role in the offense. Entering his 13th season, Johnson's production is on the decline, but catching passes from Andrew Luck won't hurt his stat line. At best, Johnson is a low-end No. 2 wide receiver in all formats. Still, there are no guarantees he is a starting fixture all season, and the touchdown totals haven't been helpful -- 12 scores over the past three seasons. All said, Johnson looks a lot better as your third receiver than your second, and he likely isn't worth reaching for entering his age-34 season.

Colts | Frank Gore transitioning smoothly

Thu, 21 May 2015 05:37:47 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Frank Gore was made a "pretty seamless" transition to the Colts' offense and is displaying strong knowledge of the playbook, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Fantasy Tip: At 32, Gore's best years are likely in the rear-view mirror. However, a slight resurgence with his attachment to a strong offense isn't out of the question, especially in the touchdown department. Additionally, FantasyScore players and PPR owners will be interested to find out how Gore is planned to be utilized in the passing game, so check back for updates on that front. He has snatched just 27 passes over the past two seasons, after all. He should be drafted as a low-end No. 2 running back in traditional formats, and unless you're expecting a huge spike in receptions, Gore is best suited as a No. 3 back in PPR leagues.

Colts | Phillip Dorsett expected to help early

Thu, 14 May 2015 10:04:37 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett is expected to make an early impact on offense because of his speed, according to offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett likely will not see a lot of playing time initially, but his speed should help when the team spreads things out. Dorsett could be a late-round option in deeper leagues next season but should not be a weekly starting option.

Colts | Dwayne Allen missing offseason program

Wed, 13 May 2015 17:05:41 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen is missing the first four weeks of the Colts' offseason program as part of his plan to play as many as 20 games in 2015. "The high ankle sprain (from 2014) lingered a little longer then I wanted it to. I talked to (Coach Pagano) about it and there was an understanding. I've been out here for two months, just grinding, getting my body in good shape so that I can go out and the team can depend on me. Getting late in the year (2014), I had a banged up knee and a banged up ankle. They didn't feel, I didn't feel, that they could depend on me and that was frustrating because I feel as if, in every situation throughout the season, they can count me," Allen said. Allen expects to rejoin the team Monday, May 18, for the beginning of organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Allen played 13 games last season, catching 29 passes for 395 yards and eight touchdowns. As one of Andrew Luck's favorite red zone targets, Allen could perform like a top-10 tight end if he can stay healthy. Due to injury concerns, Allen could set up as a steal in the latter rounds of 2015 fantasy drafts.

Colts | Phillip Dorsett praised by Andrew Luck

Thu, 07 May 2015 19:50:35 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett received praise from QB Andrew Luck Wednesday, May 6. "I know Phillip's going to be a stud," Luck said. "Runs like the wind, tracks the ball in the air, makes big plays."

Fantasy Tip: Although Indianapolis isn't exactly hurting for weapons in the passing game, there should be some targets available for Dorsett with Luck leading a pass-happy attack. His big-play ability will likely make him a high-risk, high-reward gamble at FantasyScore in his rookie season.

Colts | Phillip Dorsett to return kicks

Sun, 03 May 2015 07:43:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett will be the team's kick returner in addition to his role on offense.

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett has joined one of the top offenses in the NFL and should have a solid role in the passing game. Dorsett could be an option in the late rounds of deep leagues next season.

Colts | Phillip Dorsett selected 29th overall

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 20:13:02 -0700

Miami (Fla.) WR Phillip Dorsett was selected 29th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2015 NFL Draft Thursday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Yet another weapon for Andrew Luck in Indy. Dorsett is an efficient route runner with plenty of speed that can pick up yards in big chunks after the catch. However, don't expect much of an immediate impact in fantasy leagues in his rookie year, as the Colts already have T.Y. Hilton, Andre Johnson and Donte Moncrief in the receiving corps. He'll probably go undrafted in standard leagues, but he could be a solid sleeper pick in keeper leagues.
