Pittsburgh Steelers news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: Pittsburgh fell behind and had to abandon the run, but Bell's versatility as a pass-catcher still allowed him to salvage a decent game. More importantly, the first two weeks of the season suggest that LeGarrette Blount is not going to a major factor in the backfield. Bell could have a tough time against a stout Carolina defense in Week 3, but he is worth considering as a starting running back in FantasyScore whenever he has a decent matchup.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Brown dodged a bullet and avoided any serious injury. After catching 110 balls last year and opening 2014 with five catches for 116 yards and score, Brown has established himself as one of the more reliable fantasy options at the position.

Fantasy Tip: Check back for updates on the exact diagnosis and severity of Brown's injury. If he is forced to miss any time going forward, Markus Wheaton could potentially become a great value pick in FantasyScore in the coming weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Brown wasn't suspended, so this ruling really has no bearing on his fantasy value. He's still a top-tier fantasy wide receiver.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury), RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury), WR Antonio Brown (non-injury), WR Markus Wheaton (non-injury) and TE Heath Miller (non-injury) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10, and are listed as probable for Week 2.
Fantasy Tip: All five players were receiving some time off because of the short week. All will be able to play and could be used in all fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Moore only had a few days to get ready and will sit out his second straight game. Moore will not be a fantasy option until he recovers from the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners in all leagues can skip past Archer this week and see if he is able to play in Week 3.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton had six catches for 97 yards in Week 1, including a 20-yard catch late in the game that set up the game-winning field goal. QB Ben Roethlisberger said he didn't consider it a gamble to look for Wheaton in the crucial situation.
Fantasy Tip: Wheaton appeared to be the clear No. 2 option in the passing game in Week 1, and it looks like Roethlisberger has plenty of trust in the second-year receiver. He will take up 11% of your cap ($5,500) in FantasyScore in Week 2, and he could provide a great return on investment against a Baltimore defense that gave up more than 300 yards through the air in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: All three were given a little rest with a limited practice yesterday in the midst of a short week. They will play in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens Thursday night. Start all three as you normally would.

Fantasy Tip: Moore wasn't active in Week 1 and doesn't have much time to heal before Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens Thursday night. He'll be cheap $3,700 (7.4% of cap), but even if he does play, Markus Wheaton is the more intriguing wideout option behind Antonio Brown in this offense.

Fantasy Tip: On a short week, the Steelers are electing to rest the vet Miller. He had only four targets and three catches in Week 1 for 26 yards. You can likely find better values than Miller ($5,300; 10.6% of cap) at FantasyScore this week.
