Seahawks | Mike Morgan on track to start

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 14:36:59 -0700

Seattle Seahawks LB Mike Morgan is considered the leading candidate for the starting strongside linebacker job entering training camp, but he will have to earn the job. LBs Cassius Marsh, Eric Pinkins and Kevin Pierre-Louis are also candidates for the job.

Seahawks | Russell Wilson has made strides

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:31:08 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has made a clear step ahead this offseason, according to head coach Pete Carroll. "His command is all-time. His ability to move defenders with his eyes to set up some things, he's consistently doing that, almost unconsciously, he's so clued in," Carroll said. "We saw him throw the ball all over the field throughout the offseason and he's been strong and accurate and really precise about stuff. He has had a great offseason."

Fantasy Tip: Wilson is one of the better dual-threat quarterbacks in the league right now. He should be at least one of the first five quarterbacks taken in fantasy drafts.

Seahawks | Head coach lauds Tyler Lockett

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 17:07:02 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett is one of the hardest working players ever, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll said Lockett is a starter, much more than just a special teams player.

Fantasy Tip: Lockett has the makings of a breakout season ahead of him. He's in line to be Seattle's second receiving option behind Doug Baldwin, although Jermaine Kearse is another solid deep threat for the Seahawks. Taking him as a WR3 would be a sound draft strategy.

Seahawks | Seattle not expected to add Eugene Monroe

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 16:04:49 -0700

Free-agent OT Eugene Monroe (Ravens) probably will not be a target for the Seattle Seahawks because they appear to be content with their offensive linemen.

Seahawks | Change in offense aided Russell Wilson

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 21:50:38 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson threw 24 touchdowns and one interception in the last seven games after the offense shifted to emphasize quicker passes, timing routes and spread formations. He was sacked 31 times in the first seven games and just 15 times in the last nine games as getting rid of the ball quickly helped negate struggles on the offensive line. Head coach Pete Carroll said to expect more of that in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson has always had Marshawn Lynch as a security blanket. Thomas Rawls impressed in a short window before breaking his ankle, but he isn't a sure thing like Beast Mode was. Wilson will have more responsibility on his shoulders to move the offense. He's a midrange option at the position in fantasy.

Seahawks | Christine Michael drops weight

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 14:14:41 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michael said he lost around eight pounds this offseason and feels a little quicker. He currently weighs 217 pounds.

Fantasy Tip: Michael should be the No. 2 running back behind Thomas Rawls this season and could receive a start or two if Rawls is not ready for the regular season. He should be an option in the late rounds of draft and could be a handcuff for Rawls.

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin contract being negotiated

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 16:23:24 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin's possible contract extension is being worked on by both sides, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll said the goal is to get him locked up for a long time.

Fantasy Tip: Baldwin really came out last season thanks to 14 touchdowns, which were tied for most in the NFL. Don't expect duplication in 2016, but Baldwin is still worth a look as a WR2.

Seahawks | Pete Carroll confident in players' return

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 14:02:53 -0700

Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham (knee) and RB Thomas Rawls (ankle) should "absolutely" be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Carroll is sounding more confident in Graham's and Rawls' availability for the regular-season opener. Rawls will take over for Marshawn Lynch as Seattle's lead running back this season. He's a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 option. Graham isn't the same player he used to be, and he's now in TE2 territory after missing five games last year and only scoring twice.

Seahawks | Tyler Lockett growing as receiver

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 10:10:41 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett is growing as a receiver and has improved on getting better releases off the line of scrimmage, according to WR Doug Baldwin. "He's so quick and he's so fast that there's no reason for guys to be able to put their hands on him at the line of scrimmage," Baldwin said. Lockett caught 51 passes (second on the team) for 664 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie year.

Fantasy Tip: Lockett broke out in the second half last year at the same time Russell Wilson went on a tear through the air. With Marshawn Lynch retired, Seattle could rely on Wilson's arm a lot more, which would benefit Lockett and the other receivers greatly. Lockett will surely be undervalued in drafts but could return WR2 value if the stars align. Don't ignore his talent. You can probably draft him safely as a WR3 or 4.

Seahawks | Kris Richard impressed with D-line

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 10:10:05 -0700

Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard is impressed with the team's defensive line this year and called them "staggering." Richard thinks re-signing DE Chris Clemons to a one-year deal to provide depth was huge. DE Frank Clark, a second-round pick last year, is viewed as a darkhorse by Richard.

Seahawks | Seattle will move CBs around

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:18:17 -0700

Seattle Seahawks CBs Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane and DeShawn Shead likely will be moved around during games so the team can produce favorable matchups against opposing receivers. Sherman lined up against the No. 1 receiver more often last season and could do that again in 2016. Lane plays better against smaller, speedy receivers, while Shead is more effective against bigger, physical receivers.

Seahawks | Frank Clark sheds weight

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 07:22:58 -0700

Seattle Seahawks DE Frank Clark lost 15 to 20 pounds in the offseason and is weighing around 260 pounds. Clark is in prime position to get more snaps at right defensive end when the Seahawks are in their sub packages now that DE/LB Bruce Irvin is with the Oakland Raiders.
