Seahawks | Jamarco Jones has ankle sprain

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 23:02:12 -0700

Seattle Seahawks OT Jamarco Jones (ankle) suffered a significant left ankle sprain in the preseason opener, not a knee injury. X-rays were negative. "He's got a bad ankle sprain," head coach Pete Carroll said Monday, Aug. 13. "He didn't break his leg, but he had a real bad, serious ankle sprain. It's a high-ankle sprain plus. He's hobbling around pretty good right now."

Seahawks | C.J. Prosise remains sidelined

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:06:54 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise (hip) missed his second straight practice Monday, Aug. 13, due to a hip flexor injury.

Fantasy Tip: Prosise might be able to return to practice soon, and he'll need to get back with plenty of competition in the backfield. The presence of Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny and Mike Davis, as well as Prosise's propensity for injury, makes him a very, very risky fantasy proposition.

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin remains out indefinitely

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:06:10 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin (knee) keeps coming to practice and stretching with his teammates before going inside at the start of practice to presumably get treatment. He remains out indefinitely with his left knee ailment.

Fantasy Tip: Baldwin should be ready for Week 1, but prospective fantasy owners will want to have plenty of depth on hand at the position just in case of any setbacks. He is normally a WR1 when working at 100 percent healthy, but because of the injury and uncertainty he should be drafted as a WR2 with plenty of upside.

Seahawks | Mike Davis runs with starters

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:05:31 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Mike Davis worked with the starting offense Monday, Aug. 13, in practice with RB Chris Carson (undisclosed) working on a side field.

Fantasy Tip: Davis earned a starting job down the stretch last season, but he will have a hard time reprising the role with Chris Carson now healthy and the team drafting stud rookie Rashaad Penny. For now, Davis should go mostly undrafted unless injuries rear their ugly head again.

Seahawks | Chris Carson works with trainer

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:04:44 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (undisclosed) worked on the side with a training in practice Monday, Aug. 13, running from sideline to sideline on a different field from the team.

Fantasy Tip: Carson has been receiving rave reviews early in training camp, so it's uncertain if Carson has suffered a new injury or the team was just being cautious as he returns from a broken leg. He has rookie Rashaad Penny to contend with in the backfield, but right now Carson isn't a bad back to scoop up as an RB5.

Seahawks | Amara Darboh works on the side

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:04:12 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Amara Darboh (hip) has been sidelined for more than a week due to a hip flexor injury, although he was running at what appeared to be close to full sprint speed on Monday, Aug. 13.

Seahawks | Ed Dickson still sidelined

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:03:23 -0700

Seattle Seahawks TE Ed Dickson (quadriceps) has yet to practice during training camp due to a quadriceps injury, and head coach Pete Carroll said "it's still a bit" before Dickson will be back on the practice field.

Fantasy Tip: Dickson had a chance at a big role in the offense, but right now it's Nick Vannett and Will Dissly handling the top two spots at tight end. Even when Dickson is healthy, he is more of a blocking tight end rather than a successful pass catcher, and he always has been. Don't expect much in the way of fantasy appeal at this point of his career.

Seahawks | Nick Vannett still No. 1 in Seattle

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 22:02:35 -0700

Seattle Seahawks TE Nick Vannett is pain-free after battling a herniated disk in his low back during his first two seasons. He said Monday, Aug. 13, that this is the best he has felt in years, and that's good news since he is listed as the No. 1 tight end on the team's depth chart. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is using the tight end in its traditional role, so he'll do plenty of run blocking and pass catching. "In the pass game, you know, there are a lot of plays where we are the No. 1 read. They are really trusting us to make big play, in the pass game, in the run game, pass protection," Vannett said.

Fantasy Tip: Vannett will still have to contend with Ed Dickson, the team's free-agent signing, at some point. So far Dickson hasn't practice due to a quadriceps injury, and Will Dissly, who is considered more of a blocking tight end. Things are working in Vannett's favor, as he could have a breakout season. However, he is only worth a look as a low-end TE2 in the deepest of fantasy formats right now.

Seahawks | Rashaad Penny improving in pass protection

Mon, 13 Aug 2018 19:32:33 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny is getting better with pass protection, according to offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who added that "he's really smart with all of the blitz pickups" and "sees things really well."

Fantasy Tip: Of course, blocking can't get running backs any points in fantasy but it can maximize their playing time, which makes it crucial that a rookie like Penny becomes good at it quickly. As it is right now, the No. 27 overall pick in this past April's draft is slotted in as the No. 2 running back behind Chris Carson, but he's still expected to garner a regular workload out of the gate, with potential to do a whole lot more.
