Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon said he would retire if he won his fifth NASCAR championship this season. "If that happened, that would be all the reasons I need to say, 'This is it. I'm done,'" Gordon says. "Go out on a high note." Gordon made it clear that he wasn't joking.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson ran up front for most of the Ford EcoBoost 400 Sunday, Nov. 17, at Homestead -Miami Speedway, and he ended up in ninth place to finish the race. It was more than enough to secure his sixth Sprint Cup Series championship. "I have six. We'll see if I can get seven," Johnson said. "Time will tell. I think we need to save the argument (of greatest ever) until I hang up the helmet."

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon blew a tire and hit a wall during the AAA Texas 500 Sunday, Nov. 3, and he ended up finishing in 38th place. He entered the day third in the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings, just 27 points behind the leaders, but he is now 69 points behind teammate Jimmie Johnson with just two races remaining.

Hendrick | Jeff Gordon added to Chase field

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon was added to the Chase for the Sprint Cup field as a result of "unfair" tactics by other teams at Richmond International Raceway last weekend. The Chase will now consist of 13 drivers. NASCAR also placed Front Row Motorsports and Penske Championship Racing on probation after radio chatter showed the teams colluded to let driver Joey Logano pass driver David Gilliland to earn points.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson was penalized for jumping the final restart Sunday, June 2, at the FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway. He was given the black flag, and forced to drive through the pits, dropping him out of contention. He finished 17th, and was visibly upset after the race.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon was fined $100,000 and docked 25 points and put on probation for the rest of the season for intentionally crashing Michael Waltrip Racing driver Clint Bowyer in the Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway last weekend. "I take responsibility for my actions on the racetrack," Gordon said in a statement. "I accept NASCAR's decision and look forward to ending the season on a high note at Homestead." Bowyer finished in 28th place, eliminating him championship contention with only one race left. Also, owner Rick Hendrick was docked 25 owner points and crew chief Alan Gustafson was placed on probation for the rest of the season. Bowyer's crew chief, Brian Pattie, was fined $25,000 and put on probation through Dec. 31. Gordon's loss of points dropped him to 11th in the standings.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson won the Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway Sunday, Oct. 28. It was his seventh career win at the track. Johnson is now the points leader over Penske Championship Racing driver Brad Keselowski with only three races remaining in the Chase. Johnson is currently two points ahead of Keselowski for the top spot.
