Titans | Quinton Spain working to remain starter

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 18:41:56 -0700

Tennessee Titans OG Quinton Spain is the frontrunner to start at left guard entering training camp, according to head coach Mike Mularkey, and Spain said he has been "attacking" the offseason to stay in shape and keep the starting spot.

Titans | Justin Hunter needs to step up

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 13:31:04 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter said he needs to take his production to another level during training camp if he wants to make the 53-man roster "I am definitely going to have to bring it in training camp. There's a lot of competition, a lot of people fighting for positions and things like that. You can't slack off because another guy is coming for your spot. I have to keep grinding," Hunter said.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter will have to compete for a roster spot during training camp, so the preseason games will be important for him. He should be able to find a job if he is released by the Titans but likely will not have much fantasy value no matter where he plays.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham has been studying

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 12:12:22 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he's been studying his playbook a lot this offseason and furthering his knowledge on what his assignments are. Head coach Mike Mularkey said Green-Beckham has improved this offseason, but he wants to see more in order for the young receiver to reach his full potential.

Fantasy Tip: DGB has the size and talent to break out this year. He could open the season as the Titans' No. 1 wide receiver, but Rishard Matthews and Kendall Wright could limit his ceiling. Still, Green-Beckham is worth a look as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3.

Titans | Justin Hunter fighting for a spot

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 23:07:43 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter is entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract. He has yet to record 30 catches or more than 500 yards receiving in a season, and each of his past two years have been cut short by injury. It's likely he'll be fighting for the No. 5 receiver job with WR Harry Douglas.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter, a former second-round draft pick, has been a huge disappointment for the Titans. He has the size and speed for this league, but he cannot seem to achieve any level of consistency. Fantasy owners will want to avoid him on draft day.

Titans | Harry Douglas showing leadership

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 23:06:51 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Harry Douglas has a long history with head coach Mike Mularkey and offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie from their days together with the Atlanta Falcons. Despite that, a spot on the 53-man final roster is not guaranteed. Despite his leadership during the spring practices, it is believed Douglas will be battling WR Justin Hunter for the fifth receiver spot.

Fantasy Tip: Douglas was tied for the team lead in reception last season with 36, and he posted 411 receiving yards with two touchdowns while also chipping in on punt returns. Still, his days as a fantasy regular are well in the rear-view mirror and he is simply trying to extend his career and hang on at this point.

Titans | Marcus Mariota just wants to win

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 09:40:05 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said he will hand the ball off 40 times if that's what it takes to win. "That's what's important to me, to (give) us an opportunity to win," Mariota said. "Having those two workhorses back there should help us out."

Fantasy Tip: It's not concrete, but it's certainly evidence that the team plans to focus on the run with DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry. Murray could be a low-end RB1 if the offense pans out this way. Mariota still has some progressing to do, and the team looks like it's trying to not put the ball in his hands with the supporting cast he has in the backfield. He's a backup in fantasy. Henry is an RB4 flyer for now with some upside in TD-only leagues.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham optimistic

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 13:20:29 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he is happy with how he performed during offseason workouts and expects to be more productive in 2016 because he is more comfortable.

Fantasy Tip: Green-Beckham lost some snaps with the first-team offense during offseason workouts but should have a solid role in the passing game. He could be a middle- to late-round option in most leagues depending on his role.

Titans | Antonio Andrews stepping up

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 20:53:11 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews has responded well to the added competition of RB DeMarco Murray and RB Derrick Henry, head coach Mike Mularkey said.

Fantasy Tip: With Murray and Henry now in town, Andrews is going to have to fight for a roster spot, and he has little chance of making a fantasy impact.

Titans | DeMarco Murray in better situation

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 16:32:36 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray believes Tennessee's offensive system is a better fit for him than the Philadelphia Eagles' offense. "It's strictly downhill and that's what I've been accustomed to my entire life," Murray said. "Nothing against last year or what happened, it just didn't work out, but I'm very excited about this upcoming season."

Fantasy Tip: Murray will be the primary running back for the Titans, but Derrick Henry should also get a good chunk of playing time behind him, not to mention the other young bucks in the backfield. Murray is still a viable RB2 option, while Henry is more of a low-end RB3 to high-end RB4 in his rookie year.

Titans | Quinton Spain leading competition

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 09:30:56 -0700

Tennessee Titans OG Quinton Spain finished minicamp at the top in the competition for the left guard spot. He's down to 328 pounds after arriving for the offseason at 342 pounds. The Titans would like to get him down to 325 pounds when he returns for training camp.

Titans | Tajae Sharpe to open camp as starter?

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 11:08:42 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe has impressed head coach Mike Mularkey, and Sharpe is expected to begin training camp as a starting wide receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Sharpe is one of the fastest risers from this season's rookie class, but expectations should remain in check. He will be competing with Delanie Walker, Kendall Wright, Harry Douglas, Richard Matthews and Dorial Green-Beckham for vertical targets, and Tennessee invested heavily in their running game during the offseason. Still, while Sharpe is nothing more than a late-round flier for seasonal leagues, his value is rising in keeper/dynasty setups.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham still a project

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 10:47:53 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham remains somewhat of a project at the NFL level after he was thrown out of Missouri in college and went to Oklahoma but didn't play in 2014. Wide receivers coach Bob Bratkowski thinks the time off hurt Green-Beckham's game and caused him to develop at a slower pace. Green-Beckham was picked by the former Titans regime under general manager Ruston Webster, and new general manager Jon Robinson has said before that he's not particularly interested in projects. For now, Bratkowski said things are trending in the right direction for Green-Beckham.

Fantasy Tip: Green-Beckham's size (6-5, 237 pounds) is a big advantage in the NFL, he just needs to put it all together to take his game to the next level. As a rookie he caught only 32 passes for 549 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games. It's not a good sign that he's already been passed on the depth chart by Tajae Sharpe. However, Tennessee's offense should take a step forward in 2016, and DGB could reap the benefits. He's a risky midround selection, but he has WR2 upside.

Titans | Tajae Sharpe passes Green-Beckham

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 23:39:07 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe has passed WR Dorial Green-Beckham and WR Justin Hunter on the depth chart as Sharpe worked with the first-team in practice Tuesday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Sharpe is in the lead for the third receiver spot, but the designation speaks more to the disappointment that DGB has been. Sharpe is a WR5 flyer in fantasy and someone to keep an eye on in camp. Green-Beckham remains a high-risk, high-reward target on draft day.

Titans | Dexter McCluster will have opportunities

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 09:54:02 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster thinks he'll have plenty of opportunities to make noise in the backfield even with RBs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry ahead of him. "I think it will open up a lot more opportunities for me," said the 5-8, 170-pound McCluster. "When you have some big guys that are going to run downhill, that can cause more confusion to a lot of people. I hope (defenses) forget all about me and I can get open." McCluster has a versatile skill set and can also help on special teams returning punts.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster had 55 attempts for 247 yards and a touchdown for the Titans in 11 games last year, and he also added 31 catches for 260 yards and a TD. He probably won't see enough touches to be relevant in most traditional leagues, but he could be worth a flier as bench depth in PPR formats.
