SceneDaily.com reports Morgan-McClure Motorsports driver Scott Wimmer will be entered in the Sprint Cup Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. The team will be sponsored by Alpha Natural Resources Inc., a coal producer. Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.

Bob Pockrass, of SceneDaily.com, reports Morgan-McClure Motorsports co-founder Larry McClure was sentenced Monday, April 27, to 18 months in prison for tax fraud, according to a news release from the U.S. district attorney's office.

Morgan-McClure | Could close doors if no sponsor is found

Morgan-McClure Motorsports president Tim Morgan announced Jan. 11 that operations will be scaled back until a sponsor or investor is found. While many employees were laid off, the organization continues to plan to head to Daytona if a sponsor signs in time. "We are basically closing the doors on 25 years of NASCAR racing if we don't find a sponsor," Morgan said. He said they have been searching for a sponsor for months and will continue making efforts to put something together.
