Diamondbacks | Jake Lamb on fire of late

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 16:22:20 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb is batting .387 with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, seven RBI and a 1.171 OPS in his last nine games.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his current hot streak, Lamb ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) could struggle to return value even at his FantasyScore salary with Max Scherzer on the bump for the Washington Nationals tonight.

Diamondbacks | Welington Castillo not starting Tuesday

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 12:21:12 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks C Welington Castillo is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the Washington Nationals. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Castillo ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is getting a night off despite a hot streak at the plate as of late. Saltalamacchia ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has a .111 average in the past week and has little fantasy value.

Diamondbacks | Patrick Corbin looking good

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 12:00:08 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin is looking and feeling good in his return from Tommy John surgery. His fastball is still reaching the upper-90s and his offspeed pitches are generating plenty of swings and misses. "My elbow feels really good," Corbin said. "If anything, there's other parts of my body that are a little bit sore after starts. But I'm happy with where I am. I'm pleased with how my arm is feeling. I'm just looking to continue this for the rest of my year." He's been at his best the last two games on just four days of rest. The D-backs may give him more rest as the season winds down so that he can get through the season fully healthy. Manager Chip Hale said the team doesn't expect Corbin to go past 90 pitches in any of his outings this year as a precaution.

Fantasy Tip: Corbin's ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) results are very encouraging for the rest of the season and beyond. The fact that his strikeout numbers are up and he's not walking many is huge for fantasy owners. Corbin should be owned in all leagues. His daily value take a bit of a hit with a pitch count every time out, but you could do much worse for the price.

Diamondbacks | Zack Godley may stay in rotation

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 11:16:22 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Godley pitched six shutout innings against the Washington Nationals Monday, Aug. 3, and he has a 3-0 record and 1.50 ERA in the big leagues so far. The D-backs were considering shutting him down after his last start, since the number of innings he's thrown is a concern. He's thrown 107 1/3 frames in 2015 after throwing only 55 1/3 in relief last season. Arizona could send him down to pitch in relief or go to a six-man rotation.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to ignore Godley ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) the way he's pitched in his limited time in the majors. However, it's unlikely to continue, and his fantasy value is surely to take a hit down the stretch as the Snakes look to limit his innings. Be ready for the correction when it comes.

Diamondbacks | Chase Anderson nearing return

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:19:17 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Chase Anderson (triceps) might return from the 15-day disabled list after just one minor-league rehab start with the team going with a six-man rotation, manager Chip Hale said Monday, Aug. 3. He threw four scoreless innings in a rookie league game in Arizona Sunday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in at least one full start without any setbacks.

Diamondbacks | Nick Ahmed has four-hit game

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:18:52 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored Monday, Aug. 3, against the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Ahmed ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) struggled mightily from July 8 through Aug. 1, going 4-for-53 to drop his average from .249 to .218. However, he has back-to-back multi-hit games, totaling six hits, to re-emerge as a decent low-end FantasyScore play.

Diamondbacks | Zack Godley continues to shine

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:18:25 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Godley worked six scoreless innings in a win Monday, Aug. 3, against the Washington Nationals. He allowed just three hits and two walks with six strikeouts to improve to 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA in his first three starts.

Fantasy Tip: Godley ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has quickly emerged as a FantasyScore must-start, as the Diamondbacks are red hot and so is he.

Diamondbacks | Chris Owings on the bench

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 11:46:11 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks 2B Chris Owings is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister Monday, Aug. 3. 2B Aaron Hill will start at second base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Owings ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the near future. Hill ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has two hits in his last two games but struggled in July with a .194 batting average. Owners on FantasyScore should able to find better options to use.

Diamondbacks | A.J. Pollock returns to lineup

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 11:27:30 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF A.J. Pollock (knee) will start in center field against Washington Nationals SP Doug Fister Monday, Aug. 3, and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Pollock ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) missed a few games because of a knee injury but is back in the lineup. He has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last 10 games with three RBI during that span. Pollock will come with some risk because of his injury, but he could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Diamondbacks | Yasmany Tomas hitting second

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 09:52:03 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas will start in right field and hit second in the order Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Houston Astros and RHP Collin McHugh. OF A.J. Pollock comes out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Tomas ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) was 4-for-9 in two games before going 0-for-3 Saturday. Tomas doesn't draw many walks, but he has been hitting well of late, and he'll be a FantasyScore option with moderate upside.

Diamondbacks | Yasmany Tomas hitting sixth

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 13:17:44 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas will start in right field and hit sixth in the order Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Houston Astros and LHP Dallas Keuchel.

Fantasy Tip: Tomas ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is 4-for-9 in his last two games, with a double, a run scored and two RBI. While Tomas doesn't offer any cap relief, and he carries some risk on FantasyScore, he's a quality option while he's hot.

Diamondbacks | Jarrod Saltalamacchia starting at catcher

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 13:12:50 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks C Jarrod Saltalamacchia will start behind the plate and hit seventh in the order Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Houston Astros and LHP Dallas Keuchel. C Welington Castillo will serve as the designated hitter and hit fourth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Castillo ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is 6-for-15 in his last three games with four home runs. He'll be a strong FantasyScore option while not having to worry about the defensive side of the game.

Diamondbacks | Aaron Hill starting Saturday

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 13:08:36 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks 2B Aaron Hill will start at third base and hit fifth in the lineup Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Houston Astros and LHP Dallas Keuchel. 3B Jake Lamb comes out of the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Hill ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting just .239 against lefties this season with just a single home run. FantasyScore owners should be looking elsewhere.

Diamondbacks | Nick Ahmed hitting second

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 13:07:14 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed is hitting second in the order Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Houston Astros and LHP Dallas Keuchel. OF A.J. Pollock (knee) is out of the lineup, so SS Cliff Pennington will start in left field and hit ninth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Ahmed ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is hitting .338 against left-handed pitching this season with eight walks and eight strikeouts. Ahmed is just 2-for-his-last-28, and he can be avoided against one of the league's top lefties. Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has three singles in 14 plate appearances against lefties this season, but he'll have next to no upside while at the bottom of the lineup.

Diamondbacks | A.J. Pollock leaves game

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 04:52:34 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks OF A.J. Pollock (knee) was removed from the Friday, July 31, game against the Houston Astros due to tightness behind his left knee. He is expected to miss the Saturday, Aug. 1, contest.

Fantasy Tip: Pollock ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) was removed for precautionary reasons, according to manager Chip Hale, so it sounds like this is nothing special to worry about. He could be back later in the weekend, so keep an eye on his progress.
