Fantasy Tip: Reed is expected to be the closer, but he has been very shaky in the role with 14 blown saves the last two years. He's a low-end RP2 or high RP3 in mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Tomas is worth a flyer in the middle rounds after the first few third basemen are off the board if the team plans to put him there. As an outfielder, he's an OF4 prospect.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas worked out at third base in camp Wednesday, Feb. 25, and he was rough around the edges at the hot corner, bobbling some balls and misplaying others at times while showing an improper technique. Tomas, 24, was primarily an outfielder in Cuba, but he is downplaying the transition. At 6-2, 230 pounds, manager Chip Hale said the team needs to make sure his thick, strong build will be able to hold up at third base. The D-backs will have to make a decision some point next month on where Tomas will play.
Fantasy Tip: Tomas will be a sleeper in the late middle rounds this year for his titanic power upside, and if he's able to add third base eligibility, all the better for his owners. Without it, though, he still is worth a cheap gamble for outfield depth.

Arizona Diamondbacks C Peter O'Brien, who is likely to start the 2015 season in the minors, has impressed the coaching staff so far in spring, mainly for his power swing. The D-backs also think he's improved enough defensively to remain behind the plate.
Fantasy Tip: Unless the D-backs make a trade to acquire Dioner Navarro from the Toronto Blue Jays are look somewhere else, they're primed to enter the season with Tuffy Gosewisch as their starting backstop. O'Brien slugged 34 home runs in three minor league stops last year, and his power looks to be for real. He's strictly an NL-only option for 2015, but he could have some utility in daily games if he comes up at some point this season.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Archie Bradley is hoping a knuckle curveball can help carry him in 2015. "For a knuckle curve, you're not throwing it like a normal curveball where you're snapping your arm," Bradley said. "I was able to throw it at a young age, and it's just something that has been successful for me in pro ball." Bradley learned the pitch at a young age, and he can now successfully throw it for strikes. Manager Chip Hale said Bradley has put his up and down season in the minors last year behind him. A knuckle curve is a difficult pitch to throw, and Bradley acknowledged that if it isn't thrown correctly, it typically stays out over the middle of the plate.
Fantasy Tip: Bradley's struggles in the minors last year won't endear him to any fantasy owners in mixed leagues to start the season. Bradley must still win a rotation spot this spring, too. If he wins a spot, though, he might be worth a late-round flier if you're confident in his improvement. It's probably safer to take a wait-and-see approach with him in mixed leagues, though.

Fantasy Tip: Hill had a disappointing season all around last year, hitting just .244 with 10 home runs and 60 RBI in 133 games. Expect him to bounce back slightly in 2015, making him worth a late-round selection at the keystone as middle infield insurance.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Daniel Hudson (elbow) is able to fully participate in spring training this year after recovering from his second Tommy John surgery. Hudson had three outings in relief at the end of last season. The Diamondbacks are trying to find a role that can keep Hudson healthy, but for now he's being stretched out as a starter.
Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Hudson this spring and the progress he makes. If he stays as a starter and wins a spot in the rotation, he could be worth an final-round flier in deeper mixed leagues. If the D-backs determine that he's better used as a reliever, he can be ignored in all fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson is in an open competition for one of three rotation spots behind likely No. 1 and No. 2 SPs Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson, respectively. Hudson totaled three appearances out of the Diamondbacks' bullpen in 2014 after successfully returning from his second Tommy John surgery. An innings limit should be expected if he captures a rotation spot, but that wouldn't prevent him from being a worthwhile late-round pick in NL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: A serious foot injury held Trumbo to just 88 games and 328 at-bats last year with Arizona. He still managed to hit 14 home runs, though. Power is the asset that Trumbo will give you as an injury discount in the later rounds of mixed leagues. Be prepared to take a hit in the BA department, though, as he's hit .234 and .235, respectively, the last two seasons.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a very minor situation to begin camp, but it's worth watching. Reed enters 2015 as the team's closer. Reed should be considered in the middle rounds of your fantasy baseball drafts for saves.

Fantasy Tip: Owings is an up-and-coming prospect that offers a sneaky mix of speed and power late in mixed drafts. If everything aligns, he's a candidate for a 15-15 season in Arizona.

Fantasy Tip: The nature of Arroyo's injury alone makes him untrustworthy in 2015, and that's without factoring in his age. Leave him to the waiver wire and don't expect much from him at all this season.

Fantasy Tip: With his hand injury behind him, you should feel confident taking Goldschmidt in the top-five picks of fantasy baseball drafts. His power and batting eye are among the best in the majors.

Free-agent RP Chad Gaudin (Phillies) threw a bullpen session in front of some Arizona Diamondbacks officials this past week. General manager Dave Stewart said the Diamondbacks are considering signing Gaudin.
