Fantasy Tip: Miller could benefit from a change of scenery, particularly if he joins a team that will give him adequate run support. He posted a 3.02 ERA over 33 starts last season and made the All-Star team but wound up with a 6-17 record due to Atlanta's anemic offense. Miller should be targeted in the middle rounds of next year's fantasy baseball drafts.

Atlanta Braves SPs Shelby Miller and Julio Teheran are of interest to the Chicago Cubs, and Chicago has been involved in trade negotiations with Atlanta. The Braves are believed to be looking for young position players in return for one of their pitchers, according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: Both Miller and Teheran are excellent young arms who would see an uptick in wins pitching for a better ball club. However, Wrigley Field isn't as pitcher-friendly as Turner Field, so expecting huge gains in the ratios would be ill-advised. As it stands, Teheran and Miller are mid-round targets in seasonal drafts. Stay tuned for updates.

Fantasy Tip: Miller had an excellent season in 2015, although his record doesn't reflect that due to a severe lack of run support. He went 6-17 with a 3.02 ERA over 33 starts, with 73 walks and 171 strikeouts over 205 1/3 innings. Miller may wind up falling to the middle rounds of fantasy drafts next year because of his record, so owners may be able to select him later than he deserves to be chosen.

Fantasy Tip: The Braves already dealt Andrelton Simmons last week and have been rumored to be willing to party with other pieces as well. Freeman is a budding superstar first baseman that should be a lock for 20-plus home runs and a useful average for fantasy owners if he plays a full season in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman could be on the verge of a breakout season as he enters the prime of his career. He hit 18 home runs for the second straight year but did it in less games in 2015 (118). Freeman provides fantasy owners a good mix of power and average once the top names are off the board, and you'll probably be able to snag him a little cheaper next year.

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman is being shopped this offseason, according to sources from three different teams. One source said discussions were "the talk of the (Arizona) Fall League" this month. Freeman hit .276 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI in 118 games in 2015 and is signed through 2021 and is owed $118.5 million over those six years. The Braves are also considering trading SP Julio Teheran and OFs Nick Markakis and Cameron Maybin as they look to rebuild.
Fantasy Tip: The Braves traded defensive specialist Andrelton Simmons last week and are clearly looking to rebuild. Freeman is their best player remaining, and he easily has 20-plus home run power over a full season. A move out of Atlanta would likely boost his fantasy value even further.

Fantasy Tip: The main reason Markakis was allowed to walk had to do with fusion surgery Markakis had prior to 2015, as the Orioles thought Markakis wouldn't be the same. Markakis may go if the Braves are intent on blowing up the team and starting over, so stay tuned.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Erick Aybar was acquired by the Atlanta Braves Thursday, Nov. 12, in exchange for SS Andrelton Simmons. The Braves also acquired P Sean Newcomb, P Chris Ellis and cash considerations.
Fantasy Tip: Aybar likely will be the starting shortstop for the Braves this season, while Newcomb likely will be part of the pitching staff in some role. Aybar could be a middle infield option in deeper leagues next season because of his consistent playing time. Newcomb could be an option in NL-only and keeper leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski boasted a sneaky good 2015 stat line for cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only leagues, as he hit .300 and drove in 49 runs. However, entering his age-39 season, fewer starts and at-bats should be expected and the veteran should be viewed as a low-end option in those deep formats and left to the waiver wire in he majority of seasonal leagues.

The Atlanta Braves would like to re-sign C A.J. Pierzynski this offseason, but they're also looking at free-agent Cs Matt Wieters and Chris Iannetta (Angels). The qualifying offer to Wieters diminishes some of Atlanta's interest.
Fantasy Tip: It was a shock to see Pierzynski hit .300 (122-for-407) at age 38 while becoming the team's starting catcher. That won't happen again, although he could be an ideal second catcher in two-catcher setups. Wieters has the most offensive upside and fantasy appeal here.

The Atlanta Braves are aggressively shopping OFs Michael Bourn, Nick Swisher and Cameron Maybin at the general manager meetings this week, according to a rival official. However, Braves GM John Coppolella denies that the Braves are considering moving Maybin.
Fantasy Tip: Maybin had by far the best year of any Braves outfielder in 2015, but he tailed off considerably in the second half. Bourn and Swisher are platoon bats that only have value in deep mixed fantasy leagues. Maybin could be even more intriguing to fantasy owners if he's traded to a better situation.

Updating a previous report, the Atlanta Braves appear poised to move 3B Hector Olivera to left field full-time, following numerous internal discussions on which position he would be better suited to play.
Fantasy Tip: Olivera will gain some experience playing left field during a six-week stint in the Puerto Rican Winter League, although he will see occasional action at third base in case the team changes their mind again. If the Braves don't acquire anyone to play the hot corner during the offseason, Adonis Garcia appears to be the favorite to play the position in the 2016 season opener.
Fri, 30 Oct 2015 18:06:34 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The team expects Olivera to be a middle-of-the-order presence for years to come but they still appear undecided on what would be the best defensive position for him. He hit .253 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 79 at-bats at the major league level in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Bethancourt had a miserable season, but he still has prospect status. He'll be given every chance to be the starting catcher in 2016 and will be a late-round flyer.
Tue, 06 Oct 2015 00:57:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Bethancourt will either be a mid to late round selection in NL leagues as a catcher or he will be a platoon player. Watch this situation in the offseason to see how it develops.
