Baltimore Orioles general manager Dan Duquette told MASN Sports the team wants to retain 1B Chris Davis, saying "It's no secret the club would like to have him to come back and we're going to do what we can."
Fantasy Tip: Davis is represented by Scott Boras, so it won't be easy, but with 47 home runs this season he will be very much in demand. He seemed to regain his hitting stroke after faltering a couple years back, so he will go in as a top first baseman in mixed leagues thanks to all that pop.

Fantasy Tip: Schoop had a very nice season with the Orioles despite missing some time with injuries. He hit .279 (85-for-305) with 15 home runs and 39 RBI and should firmly be on the radar of fantasy owners in all leagues as a power-hitting second base option with 20-homer potential over a full year.

Fantasy Tip: Davis is a serious home run threat, hitting at least 47 homers in two of the last three years. He slugged only 26 bombs in 2014 after a career-high 53 in 2013. He'll remain a bit overvalued in fantasy circles because of his power, and as an impending free agent he may not be back in the hitter's paradise of Camden Yards next season.

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (hand, knee) is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda Sunday, Oct. 4. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at second base and is batting ninth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) will have the offseason to recover from his injuries. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is not a great fantasy option, and owners should be able to find better options.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the solid performance in the doubleheader, Parra ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is hitting just .227 with Baltimore after hitting .328 with Milwaukee earlier in the year. Don't count on him for much at FantasyScore in the season finale.

Fantasy Tip: Machado ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) has homered in five straight games, and he is putting the finishing touches on a breakout season. Start him with confidence at FantasyScore in the season finale.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is facing hard-throwing Luis Severino, and there are better options on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Janish ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) isn't a potent enough bat to face Luis Severino on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is likely done for the season. Reimold ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is hitting just .133 the last week and faces hard-throwing Luis Severino. He's not a great option on FantasyScore.

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) said he has played the entire season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder, although he does not plan to undergo surgery in the offseason. Instead, he will rest the shoulder for a while before strengthening it in preparation for next year. Hardy has adjusted his approach offensively because of the injury, overcompensating with his top hand for fear of aggravating the shoulder on his backswing. Further adjustments to his swing and stance have resulted in him falling into bad habits at the plate.
Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) underwent similar surgery on the same shoulder as a minor leaguer in 2004 and did not want to repeat the process again, which is why he is hoping that rest will take care of the problem. He is only batting .216 with eight home runs and 36 RBIs through 113 games and has also battled back, oblique and groin injuries this year.

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop (hand, knee) will undergo a second X-ray on his hand Saturday, Oct. 3, as well as an MRA exam on his knee Monday, Oct. 5. He has been bothered by swelling recently.
Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is unlikely to play again this year and can be ignored in FantasyScore. Ryan Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will probably see most, if not all, of the playing time at the keystone position for the rest of the regular season and should be viewed strictly as a source of cap relief.

Fantasy Tip: Clevenger ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .303 in limited playing time this season, but owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups on FantasyScore.

Baltimore Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the New York Yankees Saturday, Oct. 3. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at second base against SP Ivan Nova and is batting ninth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Schoop ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) likely will be in the lineup for the second game, but owners will need to check the lineup. Flaherty ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has only three hits in his last seven games and is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore and seasonal players will want to avoid all players from this game Friday.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 17:47:29 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Machado ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) was just 4-for-24 over the previous seven days entering play Thursday, and he snapped out of his slump in a big way. He now has 33 home runs and 20 stolen bases, making him the seventh 20/20 player in Orioles history and just the second 30/20 player.
