Baltimore Orioles news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: Hardy is making his way back from a broken foot. He has a long way to go before he re-gains fantasy usefulness, but he is making progress.
Mon, 30 May 2016 21:10:33 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain where he will pitch, but he is expected to make at least two rehab starts before returning. Fantasy owners need to be patient and see him officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks before trusting him again.
Mon, 30 May 2016 21:07:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Joseph is still hitting just .182 on the season and can only be trusted as a No. 2 receiver in the deepest of AL-only fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Considering he didn't have to depart during the ballgame and was able to wait until afterwards to get to the hospital, this doesn't seem like something that will sideline him. He's not worth owning in any format anyway with his depressing .182/.239/.212 line. However, if he does have to miss any games, Matt Wieters would get a boost.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Gallardo is still a few weeks from returning to the Orioles starting rotation. He currently has a 7.00 ERA and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues until he is able to put a few good starts together.

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters, 3B Pedro Alvarez and OF Joey Rickard are not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Steven Wright Monday, May 30. OF Nolan Reimold will start in right field and is batting seventh in the lineup. 2B Ryan Flaherty will start at third base and is batting eighth, while C Caleb Joseph will start at catcher and is batting ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Reimold is hitting only .167 over the last seven days but does have a .297 batting average this season. He should still have some fantasy value and can be an option for desperate owners in daily fantasy leagues. Flaherty and Joseph should be avoided in all fantasy leagues because they have struggled at the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Given the recent struggles of early-season surprise Joey Rickard and Kim's continued excellence in spot duty prior to this week, it seemed only a matter of time before Kim saw increased playing time. The 28-year-old Korean is batting .383 and, at least at the moment, appears to be manager Buck Showalter's top choice to hit in between Adam Jones and Manny Machado. That's prime real estate for any hitter and a spot that should lead to many run-scoring opportunities, meaning owners probably need to pick him up off the wire immediately.

Baltimore Orioles DH Mark Trumbo wrapped up a stellar series against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, May 29, going 1-for-4 with a base-clearing three-run double. The 30-year-old slugger finished the three-game road set 6-for-12 with three doubles, a homer and five RBI.
Fantasy Tip: On an offense stocked with quality bats, Trumbo has been arguably the best of the bunch so far in 2016. He is tied for the major-league lead with 15 home runs and tied for fourth in the American League with 37 RBI. Keep him active in all leagues as the Orioles begin a four-game home set with the Boston Red Sox on Monday in what should be a series filled with offensive fireworks.

Baltimore Orioles 3B Pedro Alvarez and OF Joey Rickard are not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Michael Clevinger Sunday, May 29. OF Nolan Reimold will bat eighth and play right field, with INF Ryan Flaherty batting ninth and playing the hot corner.
Fantasy Tip: Flaherty and Reimold have combined to go 2-for-22 (.091) over the past week. Neither player is a recommended fantasy option this afternoon.
Sat, 28 May 2016 10:57:06 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Wieters is batting .389 (7-for-18) with two doubles, a home run and three RBI over the past week and makes a solid catching option in all fantasy formats. Alvarez and Rickard have combined to go 4-for-32 at the plate over the same time period, so they should be avoided for now.

Fantasy Tip: A permanent move to the top of the lineup would hurt Jones' RBI potential, but if it can help boost his slumping bat, it would be worth it. Don't cut him loose just yet, but don't hesitate to bench him for a better option either.
Fri, 27 May 2016 19:46:50 -0700
Fantasy Tip: After a mini slump, Machado has reached base 14 times in his last four games. He looks like a can't-miss DFS play again.
Fri, 27 May 2016 14:15:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez returned a 3.85 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a 7.2 K/9 during his rookie season, and he is a viable own in the majority of seasonal leagues, if not all. However, he should be viewed with some risk for his first start Tuesday, and it isn't out of the question to let him prove himself on the mound before starting him in shallow setups.
Fri, 27 May 2016 13:40:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Joseph will leave the yard every now and then, but he's hitting only .190 (11-for-58) on the year with no homers or RBI. It's safe to say he's one to avoid in daily setups tonight.
Fri, 27 May 2016 13:36:23 -0700
Baltimore Orioles OFs Adam Jones and Hyun-soo Kim are hitting first and second, respectively, in the lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Friday, May 27. OF Joey Rickard remains out of the lineup, and OF Nolan Reimold is starting in right field and is batting sixth.
Fantasy Tip: It's looking like Kim, who is hitting an impressive .444 (16-for-36) will start to see more playing time over the Rule 5 pick Rickard. He's worth speculating on in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if that continues. Jones loses some fantasy luster atop the order in daily games without as many chances to drive in runs.
