Fantasy Tip: This would make sense for Boston, as 1B David Ortiz is set to retire at the end of 2016. Davis would likely be among the top first basemen on draft boards thanks to the short porches and distance down the lines.

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez is the subject of trade talks, sources indicate. The Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have been mentioned as possible targets, but the Red Sox would likely have to eat more than half of Ramirez's $68 million salary.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez hasn't been an outright bust in Boston, but he's been a disappointment. The thinking is a change of scenery might help him, but he'll sink on a lot of draft boards because of past performance his tendency to get hurt.

Fantasy Tip: Chemistry can make or break a team, and this would be big because the Red Sox had chemistry issues a few years back that sank the entire team. The Red Sox seem like the front-runner for Price, who will be one of the first pitchers off the board in single-league and mixed drafts.

Fantasy Tip: The move to first base has the potential to help Ramirez stay healthy in 2016, as he has missed significant time in four of the past five seasons. Expect Ramirez to be a polarizing player leading into the season, as while he has huge upside, he has also been a huge disappointment a number of times over the past half decade. With a clean bill of health, Ramirez has the potential to yield a huge return from a middle-round pick this spring.

Fantasy Tip: The 39-year-old Big Papi didn't disappoint in 2015, hitting .273 (144-for-528) with 37 home runs and 108 RBI for Boston. He's now had three straight years of 30-plus home runs and 100-plus RBI, which is incredible at his age. His lack of positional versatility and age will probably make him a value pick again in his final season. But at least you know he'll give you something close to 25 home runs and approach 100 RBI if he can stay healthy.

Boston Red Sox RP Koji Uehara will move to an eighth-inning role after the Red Sox acquired RP Craig Kimbrel Friday, Nov. 13. RP Junichi Tazawa will handle the seventh inning. Uehara finished last year on the disabled list with a broken right wrist.
Fantasy Tip: Uehara will lose the majority of his fantasy appeal now without consistent save chances. Like Tazawa in a non-closing role, Uehara may still have some fleeting appeal for his peripherals in the deeper AL-only formats or as a handcuff to Kimbrel.

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. may not be dealt by the team this winter. Sources speculate Red Sox general manager Dave Dombrowski would likely pursue pitching via free agency and not likely make any trades to keep the core intact.
Fantasy Tip: If that's the case, then Bradley will be welcomed back to Boston and a lot of teams will be disappointed. If he can get his hitting act together, Bradley could shoot up some draft boards. As it is, his hitting is what keeps Bradley down on most charts.

Fantasy Tip: Kimbrel was already an elite fantasy closer, and this trade won't change that at all. Koji Uehara is the big loser here, as he'll move to a setup role in the back end of the bullpen and will be largely useless in fantasy circles now, aside from the deeper AL-only formats and as a handcuff to Kimbrel.

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez was asked by the organization to lose weight to become "a little more athletic," according to 1B David Ortiz. "When it comes down to losing weight there's nothing wrong about that. I can tell you from my own experience, once I decided to take care of myself better and do things better, losing weight and other stuff, my career got longer. Hanley is still young. That's some good advice. That's the only way I can explain it. If you listen to what they have to say right now, his career is going to do nothing but get better because he's an amazing player, an unbelievable athlete and you have to be healthy to be a productive player."
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has missed significant time in four of the past five seasons, which has made him a near annual fantasy disappointment. While you may be able to use that to your advantage next spring, Ramirez should still be viewed as nothing more than a risky No. 2 outfielder leading into the 2016 season. When healthy, he remains an excellent contributor in the fake game, but staying on the field is an issue. Stay tuned for updates throughout the offseason.

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is attracting a lot of trade interest from other teams, with the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals and Chicago Cubs among the interested parties. Bradley hit just .138 with a .510 OPS in his last 25 games to close out the season.
Fantasy Tip: Bradley finished the season hitting .249 (55-for-221) with 10 home runs and 43 RBI. He's been one of the better defensive outfielders for the Red Sox, but he remains an enigma at the plate in his young career. A change of scenery could do him good, though. Look for Bradley in the later rounds of deep mixed fantasy leagues in 2016 if he's set for an everyday role.

Fantasy Tip: The Reds appear ready to trade Chapman by the end of this weekend, so stay tuned. Wherever Chapman goes, he'll remain an elite fantasy closer. A move to Boston would push Koji Uehara out of the ninth-inning role and severely damage his fantasy worth.

Boston Red Sox C Christian Vazquez (elbow) may need to be eased back on the field following Tommy John surgery this year, and he might not be ready to be counted on for the start of next season, according to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. Doctors maintain that Vazquez will be ready for spring training, however. As a result, Boston isn't comfortable trading C Blake Swihart. Vazquez is currently playing winter ball in Puerto Rico as a designated hitter. The Red Sox also aren't inclined to move Swihart to another position.
Fantasy Tip: Vazquez isn't worth a gamble in shallow mixed formats because of the uncertainty around his timetable, but he's Boston's catcher of the future and should see the majority of at-bats whenever he's ready to return. That makes him attractive as a stash candidate in keeper formats. Swihart is a switch-hitting backstop with plenty of offensive upside.

Free-agent OF Chris Young (Yankees) will visit with the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, Nov. 10, according to a major league source. Young is seeking a starting role and has received indications from Boston that they are interested in giving him significant playing time. Young hit 14 home runs with the New York Yankees this year in 356 plate appearances but only has a .314 career on-base percentage.
Fantasy Tip: Young has been a lefty killer in his career, and that continued with the Yanks in part-time duty in 2015. His overall fantasy value will increase slightly if he's given an everyday role, but it won't really change much at all in daily formats; he's still a nice value play, but only when he's facing lefties.

Fantasy Tip: 2015 was a story of two seasons for Ramirez. Before Wednesday, June 24, Ramirez sat with 41 runs, 15 home runs, 38 RBI and a .283/.330/.482 slash line through 273 plate appearances. It was all downhill after, though, as Ramirez finished with a .556 OPS and just 12 extra-base hits over his final 38 games of the season. He is a high-end contributor when healthy, but injuries have significantly curbed his fantasy returns in four of the past five seasons, and Ramirez enters his age-32 season in 2016. Stay tuned for updates, and view the outfielder as a risky No. 2 outfielder who could disappoint if reached for too early in drafts next spring.

Fantasy Tip: Buchholz was shut down with elbow issues in August and finished the season on the disabled list. That won't endear him to many fantasy owners heading into 2016, even though he has the skills to be valuable for fantasy rotations when he's healthy. He's a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues.
