Boston Red Sox OF Rusney Castillo is starting in right field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Garrett Richards Friday, May 22. It is Castillo's season debut after being called up earlier in the day.
Fantasy Tip: Castillo hit .333 (12-for-36) with two home runs and six RBI as a September call-up in 2014, and injuries derailed his plans to open the season with Boston this season. But now that he's back, he should play fairly consistently, and his combination of power and speed makes him a fantasy asset that needs to be owned everywhere. Many people might find it hard not to put him in there FantasyScore lineups for his season debut, but you should avoid the temptation. He has a tough first matchup against the dominant Richards, and hitting near the bottom of the order hurts Castillo's chances for knocking in runs.

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts, who is hitting .345 (10-for-29) with a double, triple and home run in the last nine games, has been moved up to fifth in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Garrett Richards Friday, May 22.
Fantasy Tip: Bogaerts ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is one of the few players in Boston's lineup swinging a hot stick right now, hence the move up the order. However, he's not the best pick to click tonight against a dominant Richards, who has held righties to a .177 average (11-for-62) with 17 strikeouts this year.

Boston Red Sox OFs Rusney Castillo, Mookie Betts and Shane Victorino (calf) will all rotation between center field and right field, according to manager John Farrell. However, Victorino is currently day-to-day with a calf injury.
Fantasy Tip: Castillo and Betts ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) are both starting tonight with Victorino sidelined. Castillo and Betts may struggle to return value against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starter Garrett Richards, who has returned to form this year following a gruesome knee injury in 2015. Victorino could be the odd-man out more often than not. Castillo should be owned in all leagues for his power-speed combo.

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (knee) remains out of the lineup Friday, May 22, but he said he could pinch hit. His knee remains too sore to make strong throws on defense, but he's hoping to return to the field this weekend.
Fantasy Tip: It's best to avoid Sandoval ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) this weekend at FantasyScore. Brock Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap), a switch hitter, is starting again at the hot corner Friday. Although he's been hitting well this year, a matchup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starter Garrett Richards tonight makes Holt an uninspiring FantasyScore pick.

Fantasy Tip: Castillo could have an explosive bat, but resist the temptation to ride it until you've seen the prospect play in a few games.

Fantasy Tip: Napoli ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) may have good career numbers against the Halos, but he hasn't been on point this year (.178-4-13). He does, however, have a .571 average (4-for-7) with a home run and three RBI in his career against tonight's starter, Garrett Richards. Still, with Richards returning to his pre-injury form of 2014, Napoli looks like a weak play.

Boston Red Sox OF Jackie Bradley Jr. could be demoted soon, in the opinion of The Providence Journal writer Brian MacPherson. MacPherson anticipates Boston will recall OF Rusney Castillo Friday, May 22.
Fantasy Tip: Bradley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is a fringe daily play and shouldn't be on mixed rosters. AL-only players can cut bait if he is indeed demoted.

Boston Red Sox OF Rusney Castillo is expected to be recalled to the majors Friday, May 22, in the opinion of The Providence Journal writer Brian MacPherson. Red Sox manager John Farrell said Thursday, May 21, regardless of an impending roster move, nothing will be announced at this time. MacPherson summarizes Boston's batting has been so bad that it couldn't be worse with Castillo's willingness to swing liberally, and perhaps he can inject some life into their offense. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is most likely to be sent down to make room for Castillo.
Fantasy Tip: Castillo could provide a spark to the woefully underperforming Sox offense. He is likely owned in most leagues, but it wouldn't hurt to check your waiver wire.

Fantasy Tip: Kelly ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has a 5.13 ERA on the year, but he has been solid in his last two starts. He could be worth gambling on as a source of cap relief at FantasyScore if he draws a friendly matchup.
Thu, 21 May 2015 13:58:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Between health problems and bat shortcomings, there isn't a lot to like about Victorino's ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) fantasy stock going forward. Currently, he is just 13-for-54 with six runs and three RBI for this season. The biggest concern, though, is the looming recall of Rusney Castillo. Castillo projects to take over everyday duties in right field sooner than later.
Thu, 21 May 2015 13:48:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players might want to wait for Sandoval ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) to show signs of life at the dish before utilizing him in contests, especially with Garrett Richards on the hill Friday. Plus, Sandoval is just 2-for-21 over his last six starts.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Swihart ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. He is struggling at the highest level with just eight hits over 49 plate appearances through his first 13 games. At this point, his ownership should be reserved to cavernous mixed, two-catcher and AL-only leagues. Leon ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has hit just .158 over his past 107 plate appearances, and FantasyScore players should view him as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief.
Thu, 21 May 2015 13:31:34 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has slipped into a mini-funk of late and is reeling through a 7-for-44 skid with just three runs and one RBI. There is upside, and Holt is capable, but FantasyScore players should likely aim higher than taking a desperation flier on him Thursday.
Thu, 21 May 2015 13:28:29 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Nava ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) went 1-for-2 Wednesday, May 20, and his batting average jumped 13 points to .164. He is nothing more than a desperation flier in FantasyScore contests at this point.
Thu, 21 May 2015 13:23:00 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Sandoval ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. He is 2-for-41 against left-handed pitchers this season, so this has the makings of a full platoon. Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is stuck in a 4-for-26 funk with just one run and one RBI during the skid. FantasyScore players can take a desperation flier on Holt Thursday, but it is advised to aim higher.
