Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (dehydration) left the game Wednesday, July 29, with what the team described as dehydration. Manager John Farrell was asked if Sandoval's conditioning is an issue. "That's something Pablo has dealt with his entire career," Farrell said. "It continues to be addressed. I can't say tonight is a direct result of that. There are ongoing efforts to support that, to try to get him in the best shape possible."
Fantasy Tip: Sandoval ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has a .262-8-34 line on the season and hasn't been much of a factor on FantasyScore. Use him in ripe matchups only.

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list Wednesday, July 29, after more tests confirmed he suffered a concussion Tuesday, July 28, according to manager John Farrell. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. was recalled from Class AAA Pawtucket and is starting Wednesday night. There is no timetable for Betts' return. Farrell said Bradley will be the team's everyday center fielder with Betts out. Bradley was hitting .305/.382/.472 in 71 games with Pawtucket, but he was just 4-for-30 (.133) in 14 games with Boston earlier this year.
Fantasy Tip: Concussions can be tricky, so stay tuned for more updates on when Betts might return. Hang onto him in all leagues in the meantime. Bradley has an opportunity to make noise for those outfield-needy teams in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. He'll be a source of salary cap relief on FantasyScore with a cheap salary.

Fantasy Tip: Hanigan ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is rather pricey at FantasyScore for a catcher hitting only .230 (23-for-100) with one home run and nine RBI. Look to avoid him tonight.

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. was called up from the minors and is starting in center field and hitting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana.
Fantasy Tip: Betts could need to go on the seven-day concussion DL, so stay tuned. Bradley could be a short-term pickup in deeper leagues if Betts goes on the DL, and he could split time with Alejandro De Aza in center. Tonight against the southpaw Quintana, Bradley is a very unattractive FantasyScore pick.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is likely to see most of his playing time at the keystone with Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) sidelined for the time being. The left-handed hitting Holt isn't recommended for daily lineups tonight while facing a southpaw, especially since Quintana is limiting lefties to a slash line of .212/.272/.346 with just two of his 10 home runs allowed in 2015.
Wed, 29 Jul 2015 13:09:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Bradley probably will receive several starts in center field while Mookie Betts is out of the lineup. He is hitting only .133 in limited playing time with Boston this season and is not a great option for fantasy owners.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is a trade target of the Boston Red Sox, but it looks like Boston doesn't have a good chance at landing the left-hander. The Red Sox are one of the teams Hamels can block a trade to, and it continues to be a road block in negotiations, according to a major league source. The Phillies may be zeroing in on teams that have shown interest in Hamels and that aren't on his 20-team no-trade list.
Fantasy Tip: As of right now, the Texas Rangers might be the most likely landing spot for Hamels ($8,900, 17.8% of cap). Even with a potential move to another hitter's park, Hamels should remain a fantasy baseball ace, and his value should increase with a move to a contending club.

Fantasy Tip: Miley ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is winless in five starts dating back to July 2, going 0-2 with a 4.99 ERA. Avoid him in FantasyScore until he gets untracked and shows a little more consistency and efficiency.

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) is showing symptoms consistent with concussion. He is undergoing further testing after leaving the game Tuesday, July 28, against the Chicago White Sox.
Fantasy Tip: Betts could be headed for the 7-day disabled list due to concussion, so FantasyScore players can likely remove his name for cheat sheets for at least a week.

Boston Red Sox OF Mookie Betts (concussion) left the game Tuesday, July 28, against the Chicago White Sox after tumbling over the short wall at Fenway Park on a catch attempt. He landed on his head and is being checked for concussion.
Fantasy Tip: Betts ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) would be forced to the 7-day disabled list if he has concussion-like symptoms, so check back later. FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid him even if he checks out fine, as he could get a day off Wednesday just to recuperate.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is missed by the Red Sox due to his versatility, but the good news is it looks like he will be back sooner rather than later. Give him a game to get his legs back, but Holt should snap back quickly.
Tue, 28 Jul 2015 13:53:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is the temporary replacement in right field for this game with the trade of Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. If Brock Holt returns to the lineup later this week, De Aza could head back to the bench. Either way, he is not advised for pickup as he has a .143 mark against Chicago White Sox pitcher Jeff Samardzija.
Tue, 28 Jul 2015 11:52:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) had been starting frequently in right field, but that's likely to change now that Rusney Castillo is back in the big leagues. De Aza is only an option for fantasy owners in deep AL-only leagues for outfield depth, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore.

Boston Red Sox SP Joe Kelly allowed five runs - four earned - over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision Monday, July 27, against the Chicago White Sox, his second start since being demoted to the minors. "He had a rough outing. A lot of elevated pitches in the strike zone," manager John Farrell said. "They were strikes, but the command within the strike zone was lacking. A lot of hard contact early."
Fantasy Tip: Avoid Kelly ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) in FantasyScore until he starts to iron out his problems and start to pitch with a little more consistency and efficiency.

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz homered Monday, July 27, against the Chicago White Sox, finishing with two RBIs in five at-bats. Ortiz has 13 straight seasons with 20 or more home runs. The only other American League player to do it more was Babe Ruth, who had 15 with the New York Yankees from 1920-34.
Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has posted three home runs and nine RBIs over the past two games. Ride him in FantasyScore until he starts to slow down.
