Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz (heel) left his team's game against the New York Mets on Friday, Aug. 28, with left heel tightness in the eighth inning. Manager Torey Lovullo said they would reevaluate Ortiz before Saturday's game.
Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) could be a day-to-day proposition, meaning you will have to pay attention to the starting lineup when unveiled. It may be best to sit Ortiz for a day or two, because heel tightness can affect bat swings and running around the bases.

Fantasy Tip: Swihart ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has had a rocky rookie season, as he got hurt just after earning the starting job back in the spring when Ryan Hanigan went down. He's had some decent games as of late, and this low price suggests he might be a solid FantasyScore option.

The Boston Red Sox have officially shut down SP Clay Buchholz (elbow) for the remainder of the 2015 season. General manager Dave Dombrowski said if he's healthy, the team will pick up the 2016 option on his contract.
Fantasy Tip: During a recent visit to Dr. James Andrews, Buchholz ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) was given a platelet-rich plasma injection and advised not to undergo surgery. The hope is that he will be completely healthy by the time spring training rolls around. Buchholz went 7-7 with a 3.26 ERA in 18 starts this season and can now be safely dropped in redraft leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is a notoriously slow healer, so don't be shocked if he misses some time. Jackie Bradley Jr. ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) and Rusney Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) should both see full-time duty for the duration of Ramirez's absence. Continue to check back for updates and double-check the Boston lineup before locking your own rosters this weekend.

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (undisclosed) is a late scratch from the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 28. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is replacing him in left field against New York Mets SP Matt Harvey Friday.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) can't stay healthy, and it has seriously capped his seasonal value. FantasyScore players will want to make sure to avoid him Friday. Bradley ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) draws a tough matchup against Harvey ($9,400, 18.8% of cap), so you're likely best to look elsewhere in daily contests. Check back for updates on Ramirez's status.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Murphy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. The Mets have been playing musical chairs with their lineup over the past two weeks, and it is working, as they're currently one of the best offenses in the league. Whoever is starting is worth a long look at FantasyScore, including Flores ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Without the option to utilize a designated hitter, Ortiz ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) is playing first base. The veteran has 14 runs, six home runs and 18 RBI with a .325/.414/.625 slash line through 22 games and August. He is a viable option at FantasyScore Friday, but Harvey ($9,400, 18.6% of cap) presents a tough matchup. Shaw ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been great for Boston and fantasy owners this month. He is worth owning in the majority of seasonal leagues at this point. And while he is slowing down of late, he does have seven home runs in August.

Fantasy Tip: Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) and Bradley ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) have been platooning in right field of late, which is a hit to their seasonal value. Castillo owns a .382/.417/.603 slash line over his past 18 games with 15 runs and 18 RBI, but he shouldn't be viewed as a slam-dunk FantasyScore option against Harvey ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) Friday.

Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (elbow) will begin throwing Monday, Aug. 31, when the team's current road trip ends and will be examined Wednesday, Sept. 2. There is a strong possibility he will not make another start this season.
Fantasy Tip: Buchholz should be viewed as a desperation stash at this stage of the season, and in most leagues, you'll be able to better utilize his roster spot. At best, he returns for a late-season start or two, and there is no guarantee he'll pitch well if he makes it back, either.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 15:16:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Sandoval ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) draws out against southpaw Sale ($9,300, 18.6% of cap), as it is a daunting matchup, and Sandoval hasn't handled lefties well this season. Holt ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is riding a hot streak with a 1.139 OPS over his past seven games, but you're going against the grain starting Holt against Sale.

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. OF Hanley Ramirez is batting fourth as the designated hitter against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale, which allowed OFs Jackie Bradley Jr. and Rusney Castillo to draw into the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: While Sale ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) has had a few peaks and valleys of late, he presents a brutally tough matchup, and starting Boston hitters at FantasyScore is incredibly risky. Unless you're after a contrarian stack, you're likely better off avoiding them entirely.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 10:10:03 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Porcello ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) wasn't very good before he landed on the DL and we don't like his chances against the White Sox ace on the road in his first start back. Melky Cabrera ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) and Gordon Beckham ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) are intriguing options if they get the start on FantasyScore, both have owned Porcello in the past.

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez confirmed Tuesday, Aug. 25, that he is moving to first base by next season, and he is also on board with management's decision. "I'm looking forward to it," Ramirez said.
Fantasy Tip: The move will allow Rusney Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) and Jackie Bradley Jr. ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) to play outfield full-time in 2015. It's uncertain what this means for the future of 1B Travis Shaw, a big-time prospect waiting in the wings.

Boston Red Sox SP Joe Kelly impressed scouts with his pitching arsenal and ability to maintain high velocity late into the game Monday, Aug. 25. One scout said his secondary pitches were "plus-plus," while another noted the incredible transformation Kelly has made since he saw him in May.
Fantasy Tip: Kelly ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) owns a 1.82 ERA with 20 punchouts through 24 2/3 innings over his past four starts, which were all wins. There have been flashes of this type of production at points in the past, so while you should remain a touch hesitant, time is running out to make an impact in seasonal leagues. Kelly is worth a speculative flier for owners looking for pitching help. At FantasyScore, Kelly could be worth a contrarian consideration for his next start against the New York Mets

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is pushing up against his innings limit, so look for the Red Sox to be cautious with him down the stretch. In most formats, he is nothing more than a streaming option and FantayScore start when landing in a plus-matchup, though. Check back for updates on when he'll make his next start. For the season, Rodriguez owns a 4.39 ERA, a 4.29 FIP and a 1.24 WHIP.
