Fantasy Tip: Kelly throws hard and strikes out plenty (11.4 K/9), but he's been a disaster in his three starts this year (9.35 ERA, 10.4 BB/9) for Boston. He should only be stashed in AL-only leagues while he's recovering from his injury, but keep an eye on him in deep mixed formats if he returns and turns things around.

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts is hitting .432/.519/.568 with 10 runs, six doubles and four RBI in his last 11 games. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. has hit in eight straight contests (11-for-30) with seven extra-base hits and nine RBI. 1B Hanley Ramirez has 13 hits in his last 42 at-bats (.310) with nine RBI.
Fantasy Tip: Obviously you'll want to keep all three of these players in your lineups, even though they're facing White Sox starter Jose Quintana, who has an ERA under 2.00, tonight. Bradley is excelling at the bottom of the lineup and is worth picking up for outfield depth in deep mixed leagues if he's available.

Fantasy Tip: Sandoval can be officially dropped in every league. Unless your league has a very deep bench, his value has likely cratered in keeper and dynasty leagues as well. Travis Shaw's job should be safe for the time being with Sandoval out for the season, and he has done a decent job.

Fantasy Tip: While Smith won't have a chance at saves unless injuries open up a more prominent late-inning role, Smith's strikeout stuff deserves consideration for a roster spot in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. In 70 innings for the Mariners last year, Smith fanned 92 hitters (11.8 K/9).

Fantasy Tip: The Panda is likely to miss the rest of the season and should be dropped in all formats. Travis Shaw has a .322-3-17 line on the season and should be owned everywhere.

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (shoulder) is facing "significant" shoulder surgery and a lengthy rehab, and the odds are against him returning to play this year. Boston will know more about his timeline after he has surgery.
Fantasy Tip: You can safely drop the Panda in any single-year leagues now if you were stashing him in deeper leagues. Travis Shaw has a slash line of .322/.390/.533 with three home runs and 17 RBI and remains a very dangerous fantasy force right now.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown what type of surgery Sandoval will have, but it's likely to sideline him for most, if not the rest, of the season. Travis Shaw won the starting third base job out of spring training and continues to play well after the first month of the season. Shaw should be owned everywhere.

Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello allowed just five hits and a walk with six strikeouts over seven scoreless innings in a win Saturday, April 30, against the New York Yankees. He improved to 5-0 while lowering his ERA to 2.76.
Fantasy Tip: Porcello looked great in the month of April, winning all five decisions and pitching at least six innings in each of his outings. He has four straight quality starts heading into May.

Fantasy Tip: Bradley has hit safely in seven straight. He has also driven in five runs over his past two games, and nine runs during his seven-game hit streak. He is a must-start in AL-only fantasy play and DFS leagues right now.

Fantasy Tip: Big Papi entered the series with just three homers on the season, but he has two against New York pitching over the past two days. He remains a must-start fantasy option across all formats, as he is hitting .321 with 19 RBIs to date.
Sat, 30 Apr 2016 22:21:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Based on his recent run of success against the Bronx Bombers he is a worthwhile DFS play, especially if the price is right.

Fantasy Tip: Vazquez is 3-for-10 with a pair of doubles over the past week and should be viewed as an inexpensive flier option for daily fantasy contests.

Fantasy Tip: Although Friday's outing was promising, Owens has only thrown four quality starts in 13 appearances at the MLB level since making his debut last season. He possesses a great deal of potential and should remain rostered in AL-only and dynasty fantasy leagues but his lack of consistency makes him a risky play in daily contests.

Boston Red Sox SP Joe Kelly (shoulder) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Friday, April 29. He is expected to throw another session Tuesday, May 2, before possibly beginning a rehab assignment, according to manager John Farrell.
Fantasy Tip: Kelly has been sidelined due to a right shoulder impingement and could return to action sometime next month if all goes well, so he should remain stashed in AL-only fantasy leagues. SP Henry Owens would be the pitcher most likely to lose his spot in the rotation when Kelly returns.

Fantasy Tip: Buchholz has allowed exactly five runs in four of his first five starts this year and is too inconsistent to be viewed as a viable pitching option in daily fantasy contests.
