Fantasy Tip: Leon ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is only batting .205 this year and is not worthy of FantasyScore consideration. Swihart ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is batting .429 over the past week and should return to the lineup Sunday, May 31.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is batting .287 with one home run and 11 RBIs over 101 at-bats this year. He is a nice source of cap relief for FantasyScore owners.

Fantasy Tip: In addition to battling the flu, Ortiz ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) was out of the lineup to work on his hitting mechanics. He only has one hit in his last 16 at-bats and is batting just .183 over the last four weeks. Avoid using him in FantasyScore until he has shown signs of regaining his hitting stroke.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) had been in a month-long slump, but he appears to be catching fire. Feel free to start using him again at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) put on a heck of a performance in his major league debut last night, going 7 2/3 innings and allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out seven. Rodriguez should be added in all AL-only leagues and even warrants consideration in deep mixed leagues. A matchup against the Minnesota Twins next Wednesday could be dicey, but Rodriguez has plenty of strikeout upside with a high-90s heater and wipeout slider.

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt is starting in left field and hitting sixth in the batting order against Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo Friday, May 29. OF Hanley Ramirez is serving as the designated hitter again with 1B David Ortiz sitting out to work on his swing.
Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) continues to find his way into the lineup because he's hitting .299 (29-for-97) with a homer and 11 RBI. He's also hitting .319 (23-for-72) with his only home run against righties, and Gallardo has allowed five of his seven long balls to lefty sticks this year. Seems like the perfect storm to make Holt a successful sleeper pick tonight.

Fantasy Tip: Bogaerts ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) was hit by a pitch in the arm last night and came out of the game early. It apparently wasn't serious. Bogaerts was on a seven-game hitting streak before going hitless in his last four games. For what it's worth, Bogaerts has been better at home this year and Gallardo has fared better when pitching in Texas. The game tonight is in Texas.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Andrus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. Alberto is making his major league debut, and while he has shown solid contact skills with Class AAA Round Rock (.303 batting average over 42 games this season), he is nothing more than a desperation play in daily contests.

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz (flu) said he is battling the flu. "Get some extra work done in the cage, try to get him going again before we get him back in the lineup," manager John Farrell said. "I think he's feeling under the weather as well."
Fantasy Tip: This is likely another factor in Ortiz's breather. Brock Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is likely to see increased time in Ortiz's stead. Holt has cooled off considerably after a hot start to the season and is a matchup play on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Although the original plan was to send Rodriguez back down to the minors after his start, his strong showing and Boston's shaky rotation could change things. He is worth a speculative grab in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: After a hot start, Ramirez (5,600, 11.2% of cap) has been ice cold in May. Entering Thursday's game, he had yet to homer this month and had managed just a single RBI. The home run could spark a hot streak, but for now, he remains too risky for the price at FantasyScore.
Thu, 28 May 2015 18:42:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: If Bogaerts misses time, Brock Holt ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) could see some extra playing time and make a nice source of cap relief at FantasyScore. Holt is hitting .299 on the year, including .329 against right-handed pitching, and has scored five runs in his last four games.

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts (undisclosed) exited in the fourth inning against the Texas Rangers after being hit by a pitch on the left wrist in the second inning Thursday, May 28. He was replaced in the lineup by OF Carlos Peguero.
Fantasy Tip: His early exit is likely a result of being hit in the wrist, but check back for more information about his health and whether or not he will miss time.
Thu, 28 May 2015 14:40:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Nava can be dumbed in all formats, as he was hitting just .159 (10-for-63) on the season. Carlos Peguero is now on Boston's active roster after being acquired in a trade yesterday, and he'll provide outfield depth. He'll be a low-priced FantasyScore option, but he's a weak play when in the starting lineup.

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz went 1-for-12 during the recent three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, and he will receive a few games off in an attempt to find his swing, according to manager John Farrell. His batting average is just .212, and he has only six home runs and 21 RBIs this season with a .679 OPS.
Fantasy Tip: The 39-year-old slugger could finally be beginning his decline. Make sure to avoid Ortiz ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats until he returns to the lineup, and FantasyScore players would be wise to wait for him to show a little pop at the dish before inserting him into their lineups. Seasonal owners could test the trade waters to see if Ortiz's name value can garner a plus-return.
