Fantasy Tip: After eight consecutive quality starts, Price just didn't have it on Friday night, struggling from the get go in Texas. It's a setback for Price, whose ERA had dropped to 4.24 from 6.75 during the preceding eight-game stretch, but for now we'll chalk it up as an anomaly. Make sure Price is active for his next start.

Boston Red Sox INF/OF Brock Holt (concussion) will remain with Class AAA Pawtucket on a rehab assignment through the weekend. In a best-case scenario, he could be activated from the disabled list during next week's series versus the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fantasy Tip: With OFs Blake Swihart and Chris Young both on the disabled list, OF Bryce Brentz will likely see most of the playing time in left field for the BoSox until Holt returns. OF Ryan LaMarre could also see action at the position, although he is not a recommended option in any fantasy format.

Fantasy Tip: Brentz could see a fleeting opportunity with the rash of injuries in the Boston outfield. He posted a respectable .278/.307/.438 slash line through 150 plate appearances with Pawtucket, but his fantasy value is limited to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues at this point.

Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello received a no-decision in his start Thursday, June 23, against the Chicago White Sox. The right-hander went 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk. He also struck out two.
Fantasy Tip: Not the sharpest of outings from the 27-year-old, but he can be excused for this one considering how well he had pitched entering this afternoon's assignment. Porcello had strung together three quality starts prior to this performance, so hopefully he's able to get back on track his next time out. Overall, he's been terrific for fantasy owners this year, being 8-2 with a 3.93 ERA.

Fantasy Tip: Young had to leave Thursday's game early after injuring his right hamstring, which is unfortunate for him, as he was receiving regular at-bats with the Red Sox. Ryan LaMarre replaced him in the ballgame and could end up getting a considerable boost as a result of the injury. Another name to look out for is Rusney Castillo.

Fantasy Tip: Young had to be helped off the field, but it's premature to speculate how serious the injury is. LaMarre has minimal DFS appeal if he receives extra playing time.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez is hitting .227 with a homer in 22 at-bats on the season. He's a weak flyer against James Shields today.

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez allowed four runs -- three earned -- on four hits in six innings against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, June 22. The lefty walked two and fanned a season-best seven.
Fantasy Tip: This was easily Rodriguez's best start of June, and had Koji Uehara not melted down in the eighth, Rodriguez would've evened his record at 2-2. He's definitely worth stashing in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues, and with a start against the Rays on tap, optimists might want to slot him into their active lineup this Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz is just the third player in baseball to reach the 60-RBI mark -- Edwin Encarnacion (62) and Nolan Arenado (60) are the others -- and the 40-year-old simply continues to make life miserable for opposing hurlers. As long as the BoSox are in an AL city, Ortiz needs to be in your lineup.
Wed, 22 Jun 2016 22:42:03 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Bogaerts had actually been struggling of late (7-for-29, two RBI in the eight games prior to tonight), but with his three-hit performance he's back atop the majors in average (.351). Needless to say, keep him in your daily lineup.
Wed, 22 Jun 2016 19:02:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: No deal appears imminent for either hurler and it's likely that the Red Sox were just doing their due diligence to see what it would take to land a big-name starter. At the very least, a potential deal would likely involve SS Xander Bogaerts and/or OF Mookie Betts. When healthy, both Fernandez and Cole should be viewed as fantasy aces in seasonal leagues and must-start options in daily contests.

Boston Red Sox 3B Travis Shaw (shin, ankle) left the game against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, June 22, because of a right shin contusion. The injury is related to the one he suffered Tuesday, June 21, when he fouled a ball off his right ankle bone. Shaw was replaced in Wednesday's game by 3B Deven Marrero.
Fantasy Tip: The severity of Shaw's injury is unknown, so keep checking back for updates on his condition. Marrero is likely to see the bulk of the playing time at the hot corner if Shaw is forced to miss extended playing time but he is a defensive-minded player who is not a great fantasy option.
Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:25:56 -0700
Boston Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez is batting seventh in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Wednesday, June 22. OF Chris Young has moved up in the lineup and is batting fifth.
Fantasy Tip: Ramirez has been on a bit of a cold streak and has recorded a .179 batting average this month. He should still be a decent starting option in most leagues despite the struggles. Young is hitting .261 over the last seven days and should have some value in deeper mixed leagues.
Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:18:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Leon has gone 10-for-16 at the plate since being recalled earlier in the month. He is not the best fantasy option, but desperate owners in daily fantasy leagues could consider using him.

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz is not in the lineup Tuesday, June 21, against the Chicago White Sox. OF Hanley Ramirez will man the DH slot against White Sox SP Chris Sale, while 1B Travis Shaw is at first and 3B Deven Marrero mans third base.
Fantasy Tip: All these roster changes are largely due to Ortiz sitting out against a left-handed pitcher. Ramirez is a decent bat in all formats as he's warming up (six hits in the last six games). After a slump earlier in the month, Shaw is warming up in daily formats (six hits in the last seven games). Marrero has only been up a few days and does not have significant fantasy value yet.
