White Sox | More on Adam Eaton's injury

Wed, 23 Apr 2014 09:57:22 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton (hamstring) said he's dealing with more than just a mild strain in the lower part of his left hamstring. "Apparently there's a tendon that is kind of rolling over on the inside back part of my knee. It's been kind of an easier fix," Eaton said. "We're making sure the tendon doesn't move and that equals no pain." He ran some stairs, did lunges and ran on an incline Tuesday, April 22, and everything went well. Eaton declared himself 95 percent healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Eaton could return in a day or two. When he does, return him to your fantasy lineups.

White Sox | Gordon Beckham on track to return this weekend

Wed, 23 Apr 2014 09:18:56 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham (oblique) is on track to return to the team this weekend after rehabbing with Double-A Birmingham.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham will steal valuable playing time from Marcus Semien at the keystone when he returns. That'll make Semien mainly a middle infield depth piece in AL-only leagues.

White Sox | Chris Sale not expecting to miss much time

Tue, 22 Apr 2014 13:16:23 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale (elbow) doesn't expect to miss more than two starts.

Fantasy Tip: We'll temper our optimism until we see Sale get back on a mound. The good news is no structural damage was found in his left arm. Stay patient and keep tabs on his recovery process.

White Sox | Dayan Viciedo has more controlled approach

Tue, 22 Apr 2014 09:34:48 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Dayan Viciedo has been more controlled at the plate and is chasing fewer offspeed pitches on the outer half of the plate. That has helped him get off to a .321 average in 2014, along with the fact that he's driving the ball the other way. He's drawn five walks in 53 at-bats this year, compared to 24 walks in 441 at-bats last season. Viciedo is 10-for-27 with five RBIs in seven games since becoming the everyday right fielder.

Fantasy Tip: Viciedo's poor pitch recognition and lack of plate discipline was the knock on him coming into this year. A more mature approach is the reason for his hot start. With regular playing time, he's a player that could break out, and his raw power plays very well in his home ballpark.

White Sox | Adam Eaton to test injury

Tue, 22 Apr 2014 09:31:18 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton (hamstring) plans to test his strained left hamstring Tuesday, April 22, and he might return to the lineup Wednesday, April 23, if it feels good. Eaton doesn't think he'll need to go on the disabled list. "We'll be very cautious with him because he's kind of a maniac when he runs around, so you have to be careful," manager Robin Ventura said. "I did explain that to him that because of his personality, we can talk about it, but we're not going to go by everything he says, in a good way, not a bad way."

Fantasy Tip: Continue to check on the availability of Eaton, but expect him to be out at least another day or two.

White Sox | Chris Sale headed for 15-day DL

Mon, 21 Apr 2014 19:53:54 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Chicago White Sox will place SP Chris Sale (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, April 22, due to a flexor strain. An MRI showed no structural damage in Sale's left elbow, however.

Fantasy Tip: Charlie Leesman will come up from Triple-A Charlotte to start Tuesday, with Andre Rienzo making the start Wednesday. Both of those pitchers are only worth looks in deeper AL-only leagues while Sale is on the shelf. It's uncertain if Sale will be ready to return from the DL when eligible, or if he'll need a longer stint. That is still to be determined.

White Sox | Andre Rienzo could make start

Mon, 21 Apr 2014 15:11:44 -0700

Chicago White Sox P Andre Rienzo could make the start against the Detroit Tigers Tuesday, April 22, if SP Chris Sale (soreness) isn't able to make his scheduled start.

Fantasy Tip: Rienzo's start would likely just be a one-time spot start, since Sale's body soreness doesn't look like it'll cause him to miss a start.

White Sox | Chris Sale sore, unlikely to make next start

Mon, 21 Apr 2014 14:23:14 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale (undisclosed) is unlikely to make his start Tuesday, April 22, due to muscular-based soreness.

Fantasy Tip: The soreness is similar to what he experienced two years ago, so it's not expected to be an issue that forces him to the DL. However, you'll need to put him on your bench this week and keep track of his progress.

Mon, 21 Apr 2014 12:33:49 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham (oblique) was 0-for-4 while hitting second for Double-A Birmingham in a rehab game Monday, April 21. He served as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham will likely need to play several back-to-back games in the field before the White Sox are comfortable activating him. Marcus Semien could platoon with Beckham initially upon his return.
