White Sox | Chris Sale misses out on 10th victory

Sun, 29 May 2016 14:55:06 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale left with a 4-2 lead after yielding two runs on seven hits and fanning seven over as many innings Sunday, May 29, but did not factor into the decision as the bullpen was unable to solve the Kansas City Royals for the third straight game in a 5-4 loss.

Fantasy Tip: Sale was not to blame in this one like he was in a rare stinker Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians, and today's outing marks the ninth time in his last nine trips to the mound he has allowed two runs or fewer. For those not scoring at home, the White Sox were unable to hold a four-run advantage on Friday, a six-run lead on Saturday or a two-run edge in the finale. Sale will take his third crack at his 10th win next weekend on the road against the Detroit Tigers.

White Sox | Dioner Navarro catching Sunday

Sun, 29 May 2016 07:46:21 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Dioner Navarro will bat seventh and start behind the plate against SP Sunday, May 29. In addition, SS Jimmy Rollins will miss his second consecutive game, with INF Tyler Saladino batting ninth and playing shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino is batting .346 (9-for-26) on the road this season and is 13-for-38 (.342) this month, so he should be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in DFS. Navarro is hitting .269 this month following a slow start at the plate this year and is a viable catching option for daily players looking to save money.

White Sox | ChiSox interested in James Shields

Sun, 29 May 2016 07:39:41 -0700

The Chicago White Sox are one of several teams that have inquired about trading for San Diego Padres SP James Shields.

Fantasy Tip: Shields has received the lowest amount of run support for any starter in the majors this year, getting an average of just 1.8 runs from his offense. The 34-year-old right-hander is 2-6 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 10 outings, with 56 strikeouts over 64 2/3 innings. Shields should be viewed as a viable middle-of-the-rotation fantasy arm regardless of where he is pitching, although joining a club with a better offense would only increase his value.

White Sox | Austin Jackson collects three more hits

Sat, 28 May 2016 15:07:47 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson recorded his third straight multi-hit effort on Saturday, May 28, against the Kansas City Royals, going 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson apparently found his groove of Chicago's previous series against the Cleveland Indians, as today's multi-hit performance was his fourth this week - two shy of his total over his first 44 games. Over the last seven days alone, he has lifted his average 39 points to .257. Jackson doesn't bring enough in any category at this stage of his career to be a consistent fantasy asset, but a short-term hot hitter that comes cheap can be worth his weight in gold for DFS owners.

White Sox | Jimmy Rollins sitting out

Sat, 28 May 2016 07:42:04 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura Saturday, May 28. SS Tyler Saladino will start at shortstop and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino has gone 2-for-10 over the last seven days and is not strong fantasy option in any league.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera hits grand slam

Sat, 28 May 2016 05:09:09 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI against the Kansas City Royals Friday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has hit a home run in each of the last two games and has six RBI during that span. He is hitting .309 this month and should be a fine starting option in most leagues.

White Sox | Adam Eaton out again

Fri, 27 May 2016 14:22:17 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton is out for the second straight day against Kansas City Royals left-handed SP Danny Duffy Friday, May 27. OF Austin Jackson moves up to the leadoff spot and OF Jerry Sands is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth. OF Avisail Garcia moves to right field and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Eaton is getting a chance to rest with the team facing lefties back-to-back days. A-Jax gains notable value hitting leadoff again with a chance to find more opportunities to run and score runs. Sands has pop but is inconsistent at the plate, making him more of a low-end dart throw in DFS. Garcia continues to disappoint his owners with his power potential, and his fantasy upside remains limited hitting low in the order. .

White Sox | Melky Cabrera in two-hole

Thu, 26 May 2016 14:44:05 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera is hitting second against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Thursday, May 26. As a result, SS Jimmy Rollins moves down to seventh in the lineup against a left-hander.

Fantasy Tip: The Melk Man continues to put the ball in play often for a high average (.294). However, he has no home runs against left-handers from the right side and has less power in that setup. He's still not a bad option for your lineups, but temper expectations tonight. Rollins is a very low-end shortstop option in daily formats against the southpaw.

White Sox | Adam Eaton takes a seat

Thu, 26 May 2016 14:38:25 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 26. OF Austin Jackson moves to center field and is hitting leadoff against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy. Also, OF Jerry Sands draws into the lineup as the designated hitter and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: A-Jax has the speed and Sands has the power, but both are merely low-end flyers in daily contests tonight. Jackson's move up the lineup makes him a little more intriguing for potential runs scored and stolen bases, but don't overvalue him because of that. Sands was once a big-time prospect but has hit just 10 home runs in his five years in the big leagues.

White Sox | Jose Abreu productive at plate

Wed, 25 May 2016 20:43:16 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu went 3-for-4 against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Abreu has gone 6-for-8 over the last two games but has hit only one home run in his last 17 games. Abreu has posted decent numbers and will continue to hit in the middle of the lineup, so he should be an attractive option for most owners.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera goes deep

Wed, 25 May 2016 20:31:10 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has been performing well at the plate this month and has one home run and 13 RBI during that span. Cabrera is not a great option for owners looking for power, but he should be a fine starter in most leagues.

White Sox | Melky Cabrera hits third long fly

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:54:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the White Sox's 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera's numbers don't jump off the page, but he has modest four-category production with 78 runs, three home runs, 20 RBI and a .294/.362/.417 slash line. There is room for more pop, too, and as long as Cabrera continues to hit in the heart of the order, he'll be a viable starting outfielder in deep mixed leagues.

White Sox | Jose Quintana solid in losing bid

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:49:53 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight hitters through six innings during the White Sox's 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Quintana has now lost three consecutive starts, and his ERA has climbed from 1.38 to 2.22 during the stretch. However, if you were counting on the mid-rotation hurler to return ace results all season, your expectations were out of whack. Going forward, Quintana projects to provide quality statistics and is well on his way to a career-best campaign.

Indains | Corey Kluber fans nine White Sox

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:44:54 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber allowed two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and one walk while striking out nine batters through 7 1/3 innings during Cleveland's 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber has been hit or miss this season and has allowed three runs or more in five of his 10 starts, but he has now allowed just three earned runs over his past 14 1/3 innings over two starts. He has also struck out 15 batters during the stretch. Expect Kluber to flirt with being a fantasy ace going forward with plenty of strikeouts and the odd rough outing a part of the package.

White Sox | Jose Abreu has diagnostics on Klubot

Wed, 25 May 2016 11:02:47 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu, who broke a skid with three hits Tuesday, May 24, has hit Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber to a tune of .357 with three homers in 28 at-bats in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Abreu will face off against Kluber Wednesday. Abreu is catching him at the right time because he hasn't been his typical dominant self. Abreu is a high-end consideration today.
