Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound like the injury is overly serious, but monitor his status over the coming days and be prepared to swap him out.

Detroit Tigers OF Steven Moya is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Saturday, June 25. INF/OF Mike Aviles will play right field and bat seventh. In addition, SS Jose Iglesias is back in the lineup, batting ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Moya is batting .391 with three home runs over the past week but he will give way to Aviles Saturday, who is hitting .295 with four RBI over the past four weeks. He should be viewed as nothing more than an inexpensive flier option in daily fantasy contests. Iglesias is batting .351 with eight RBI this month and makes a productive source of cap relief in DFS at the shortstop position.

Fantasy Tip: Pelfrey recently had his next scheduled start pushed back from Saturday, June 25, to Tuesday, June 28, so that he could work on his mechanics. However, Friday's outing means he will probably be pushed back a second time. The 32-year-old right-hander was pressed into service because the Detroit bullpen was shorthanded. He is 1-7 with a 5.36 ERA through 15 appearances in 2016 and should not be owned outside of deep AL-only fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: After a strong start to 2016, Zimmermann has allowed at least six runs in four of his last seven outings and has only made it past the sixth inning twice in the last month. He should be viewed as a somewhat risky play for his next start versus the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Fulmer is being skipped this trip through the rotation to conserve his innings. It isn't a huge hit to fantasy owners because it should mean he'll pitch deeper into the season. Through 11 starts, Fulmer has 11 wins with a 2.40 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP and 60 strikeouts through 63 2/3 innings. Those are high-end numbers, and until Fulmer shows otherwise, he should be viewed as a solid mid-rotation hurler for your virtual squad.

Fantasy Tip: Romine has been playing better recently but is still hitting .196 this season. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use.

Fantasy Tip: Moya didn't do anything of note when he was called up by the Tigers in May, but he's been taking advantage of his second stint with the big league club. In six games since being recalled, the 24-year-old is now 9-for-24 (.375) with three homers, six runs and four RBI. He's worth a look in deep formats right now and definitely has some mixed league appeal.

Detroit Tigers SP Daniel Norris received a no-decision in his first start of the season Thursday, June 23, opposite the Seattle Mariners. The southpaw worked five innings, allowing three runs on six hits, including three home runs. He struck out five and walked none.
Fantasy Tip: Other than being victimized by the long ball, the 23-year-old youngster wasn't bad here, at least for his first start of the year. He displayed solid command, which has sometimes been an issue for him, and the strikeouts were there, too. Norris isn't someone to deploy on a regular basis just yet, but he certainly has the potential in becoming a dependable pitcher in some fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Manning is an 18-year-old right-hander who struck out 77 batters over 40 1/3 innings in eight starts during his senior year and has been clocked as high as 98 mph on the radar gun. At the plate, he hit .493 with 12 extra-base hits and 22 RBI in 67 at-bats. His progress throughout the minors should be monitored by fantasy owners in dynasty leagues.

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez and OF Cameron Maybin are out of the lineup Thursday, June 23. 3B Nick Castellanos is hitting cleanup, and SS Jose Iglesias hits second. OF Andrew Romine is hitting ninth in center field, and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia is playing first and hitting eighth.
Fantasy Tip: Castellanos has cooled a bit with a .274-3-8 line this month, but he's a high-end consideration behind Miguel Cabrera. Iglesias is hitting .356 this month, and he has high upside ahead of Miggy. Romine and Salty aren't strong DFS flyers against Adrian Sampson.

Detroit Tigers OF Justin Upton was held hitless in four at-bats Wednesday, June 22, against the Seattle Mariners to snap his 11-game hitting streak. He entered play as the only player in the majors with a double-digit hit streak.
Fantasy Tip: Upton has been red hot and he remains a must-start in all fantasy formats after a slow start. He still has four homers and 14 RBIs over his past 12 games.

Fantasy Tip: After hitting .160 in the month of May, Iglesias has picked up the pace in June. He is hitting .356 (26-for-73) with six doubles, a home run and six RBIs during the month. He has re-emerged as a must-start in AL-only fantasy leagues and deeper mixed formats.

Detroit Tigers SP Michael Fulmer allowed one earned run, three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in a no-decision Wednesday, June 22, against the Seattle Mariners. He retired 10 batters in a row before the fifth inning, but gave up a walk, one-out single and then he hit two consecutive batters to force in Seattle's only run. Apparently, manager Brad Ausmus had seen enough and Fulmer didn't last long enough to qualify for the win despite being up 4-1 at that point.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners are likely a little unhappy with the quick hook, but that's what happens sometimes with a skipper handling a young pitcher. Fulmer remains a solid fantasy option in AL-only leagues, deeper mixed formats and DFS play. He still has yielded just three runs in 44 1/3 innings over his past seven starts.

Fantasy Tip: Moya has a big frame and looks like a guy who should be able to reach the seats on a routine basis. He is hitting .321 so far and has emerged as a must-start fantasy option in AL-only leagues and DFS play.
Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:42:38 -0700
Detroit Tigers C James McCann is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 22. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Seattle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma Wednesday.
Fantasy Tip: McCann has found a grove with a .286/.321/.551 slash line through 14 starts in June and checks out as potential starter in the majority of seasonal leagues while playing well. After hitting six bombs through his first 12 games of the season, Saltalamacchia has gone 10-for-75 (.133 batting average) with a single home run and a .475 OPS. He is a desperation fantasy option at this point.
