Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler allowed one run on five hits in six innings against the Chicago Cubs Friday, July 3, to pick up his seventh win of the season. He struck out four batters and walked one during the game.
Fantasy Tip: Koehler ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has pitched pretty well over his last several starts and has allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last seven starts. Koehler is scheduled to face the Boston Red Sox in his next start and could be a risky option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Bour ($3,200, 4.6% of cap) has recorded seven hits and eight RBI over his last five games to go along with his home run streak. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Bour while he is on his hot streak.

Fantasy Tip: Gillespie ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 1-for-5 on the season and we need to see more before using him on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Bour ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) went 1-for-3 with the homer, a walk, one run scored and three RBI. Bour has homered in three straight games, and he should be finding his way into FantasyScore lineups.

Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez (elbow) struck out six batters over six innings while allowing three earned runs on seven hits during the Marlins 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants Thursday, July 2.
Fantasy Tip: Fernandez ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) recorded the win in his season debut and first start after a 14-month recovery process from Tommy John surgery. Fantasy owners can now start Fernandez with confidence in all formats going forward, and it isn't out of the question for him to return near-elite numbers the rest of the season. Although, it is likely wise to keep your expectations in check and count on a few peaks and valleys.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't worth your time in daily games Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is one to avoid on Fantasy in a rare start to catch Jose Fernandez (elbow), who is making his season debut. Mathis is batting only .167 (5-for-30) with nine strikeouts in 2015.

Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez will have six days of rest before his second start of the season, which is scheduled to come at home Thursday, July 9, against the Cincinnati Reds. Fernandez was 16-8 with a 2.25 ERA in 36 career starts before having Tommy John surgery last year, but he had no significant setbacks during his rehab. Fernandez will be on a "common sense" pitch count in his first start Thursday, July 2, against the San Francisco Giants, according to manager Dan Jennings. Fernandez threw 90 pitches in his final rehab start in the minors last Saturday.
Fantasy Tip: Fernandez's ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) risks outweigh the potential reward in his first start in the bigs in more than a year. He could be a bit rusty and on a pitch count, and don't forget, the Giants have the highest OPS of any team on the road this season.

Fantasy Tip: Fernandez ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) is at too high of a price to trust on FantasyScore today. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball, but rust and a pitch limit could be factors.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Phelps ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) is pitching in middle relief, he has minimal fantasy value. However, he was a respectable 4-4 with a 3.84 ERA in 13 appearances as a starter, so he could be the club's first option for a spot starter if the need arises.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:41:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Urena ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) was 1-4 with a 4.04 ERA through seven starts. He is expected to stick around with the parent club as a reliever but unless you are competing in a deep NL-only fantasy league, you can cut ties with him now.

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart will re-enter the starting rotation Saturday, July 4, against the Chicago Cubs. He was activated from the disabled list Thursday, June 25, but had been pitching out of the bullpen.
Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) had been sidelined for a month due to vertigo, so Miami decided to ease him back into action by using him out of the bullpen. FantasyScore owners may want to avoid using him Saturday because he is likely to be on a pitch count as he transitions back to starting.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:53:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gillespie ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting at the bottom of one of the weakest lineups in all of baseball. If that doesn't tell you to ignore him on FantasyScore, we don't know what will. He's hitless in three at-bats for the Marlins this year with two strikeouts.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:46:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ozuna ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) hit .250 (25-for-100) with a homer, 11 RBI and an OPS of just .622 in June and has seen his average fall to .261 on the season. If he's not contributing in average for his fantasy owners, he's not giving you much at all. For the time being, you should look to avoid him on FantasyScore, too, until he turns things around.

Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez (elbow) is returning to start against the San Francisco Giants Thursday, July 2, for the first time since May 2014 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Fernandez was the team's opening day starter last year.
Fantasy Tip: Fernandez ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) should already be owned in all leagues. On FantasyScore, it'll be tempting to use him immediately, but remember, the Giants lead the league with a .776 OPS on the road, there is plenty of risk in taking Fernandez right out of the gates.
