Fantasy Tip: Lincecum will likely have many suitors when the throwing session is held in Tempe, and this may make an intriguing signing if it comes through. Keep an eye on where Lincecum lands.

Fantasy Tip: Clippard was moved to a setup role after being acquired by the New York Mets last year, where he had just two saves. Most teams have their closer picture cleared up right now, so he's unlikely to have much fantasy fantasy value, but stay tuned.

Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez's camp believes he can land a deal worth $30 million annually when he becomes a free agent after the 2018 season, and the Marlins are resigned to losing him eventually. The Marlins said they are no longer receiving calls from teams interested in Fernandez.
Fantasy Tip: Fernandez could have an innings limit this season that hinders his upside, but he's in the SP1 conversation on draft day.

The Miami Marlins are expected to have an open competition for the closer job, with RP Carter Capps having an opportunity to win the job away from incumbent CL A.J. Ramos, according to general manager Michael Hill.
Fantasy Tip: Ramos went 2-4 with a 2.30 ERA and 32 saves in 71 games last season, while striking out 87 batters in 70 1/3 innings, and should still be considered the favorite to close games for the Fish. Capps went 1-0 with a 1.16 ERA in 30 appearances in 2015, with 58 strikeouts in 31 innings. Despite the eye-popping K/9 rate, Capps has never saved a game at the major league level. Both pitchers should be monitored throughout spring training, especially in NL-only leagues. The Marlins had also expressed interest in free-agent RP Fernando Rodney, who has prior closing experience, before he signed with the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: The Marlins are looking for veteran hurlers to round out their starting rotation and Simon could be an inexpensive alternative to fellow free-agent SP Doug Fister (Nationals). The 34-year-old right-hander went 13-12 with a 5.05 ERA in 31 starts for Detroit in 2015 but should only be considered as a late-round flier in single-universe leagues or cavernous mixed formats.

Fantasy Tip: The Fish are looking for veteran rotation depth and they may turn to Lohse if they deem fellow free-agent SP Doug Fister (Nationals) to be too pricey. The 37-year-old right-hander went 5-13 with a 5.85 ERA in 37 games (22 starts) for Milwaukee last season and should only be considered as a late-round flier in NL-only fantasy baseball leagues.

Marlins Park, the home of the Miami Marlins, is having work done to make the outfield dimensions less daunting for hitters. The center field wall will be moved 11 feet closer to home plate, and it'll be 407 feet away in 2016. The Marlins are also lowering the fence from 11 to 13 feet to six to 11 feet. OF Giancarlo Stanton will now be taller than the fence behind him.
Fantasy Tip: While it might not make a huge difference, it's something to keep an eye on for this upcoming season. Marlins Park has been widely known as one of most pitcher-friendly parks in the league. It'll still probably remain a pitcher's park, but home runs could be on the rise starting next season.

Fantasy Tip: Neither pitcher would have much value in a traditional shallow mixed league, but Fister might be worth a look in the late rounds of deep mixed formats as an extreme ground-ball pitcher in a nice pitcher's park. Simon isn't much of a K artist either, but he gives up too much hard contact to be successful for long periods.

Fantasy Tip: Cespedes is rumored to be close to signing with a team, so expect the rumors to fly fast and furious until he is signed. For now, keep an eye out on the latest news.

The Miami Marlins are among the teams discussing free-agent OF Yoenis Cespedes (Mets) on a short-term deal, according to sources. A signing of Cespedes would likely require the Marlins to trade OF Marcell Ozuna.
Fantasy Tip: A move to Miami wouldn't be the most ideal landing spot for Cespedes, but after the damage he did in the second half with the New York Mets last year, any fantasy owner would love to have Cespedes as a high-end second outfielder, regardless of where he's playing.

Fantasy Tip: Ramos took over the closer role in mid-May and went on to record 32 saves last season, and he projects to start 2016 with the job. He returned a respectable 2.30 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 11.1 K/9 ratio line, too. Ramos is a mid-range closer who is worth targeting as a No. 2 closer for your fantasy club.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria has limited fantasy appeal outside of deep mixed and NL-only leagues, and he does little beside return a solid batting average. Over the past two seasons, Hechavarria has a .278 batting average and is just entering his prime. Still, he doesn't move the needle enough in any other category to expect a significant step forward. FantasyScore players will want to note his excellent numbers against left-handed pitchers, though, as Hechavarria posted a .352/.412/.500 slash line against southpaws last season.

Fantasy Tip: Koehler should be left to cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Over the past three seasons, he has an underwhelming 4.07 ERA, a 4.21 FIP, a 1.34 WHIP and a 6.6 K/9. In other seasonal formats and at FantasyScore, he is a spot-start option in favorable matchups.

Fantasy Tip: Fernandez is a legit SP1, but we need to know more about his innings limit. If he's held to 180 innings, he'll miss five starts or so and could be overvalued.

Updating previous reports, Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon has salaries of $3 million, $7.5 million, $10.5 million, $13 million and $13.5 million. He received a $1.5 million signing bonus and has a $14 million vesting option in 2021 with a $1 million buyout.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon had a dynamite season with a .333 average and 58 steals. He comes with a little buyer beware not to overdraft him this season expecting a repeat, but he's a top 2B option.
