Miami Marlins news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: Stanton ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) could be back with the parent club soon depending on how well his hand fares in rehab and how well he hits, but the team could still bring him along slowly.

Miami Marlins SP Chris Narveson made his second start since 2012 on Monday, Aug. 31, and he allowed two hits, two walks and struck out three in 5 1/3 innings. He left the game with a blister on his left middle index finger but picked up the win as Miami prevailed 4-0 over the Atlanta Braves.
Fantasy Tip: Narveson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) looked like he was on a roll, but now you have to wonder how he will be moving forward. Keep an eye on how bad the blister is, as blisters can impact pitching performance.

Fantasy Tip: Narveson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) recorded 5 1/3 scoreless inning before dipping out. He could serve as a cheap FantasyScore option if he can return sooner rather than later.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ozuna ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. He has shown flashes since being recalled from the minors Saturday, Aug. 15, but really it has been more of the same disappointment, as Ozuna owns a .237/.250/.475 slash line. Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has a .358/.414/.453 line over his past 58 plate appearances, so while he is in fine form, he is worth a look at FantasyScore as a low-priced flier.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) may have wanted to test out his knee a little, so the fact he could hit was encouraging. Keep an eye on the situation.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should be back in the lineup for the team's next game. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should not be a starting option in any fantasy league.

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg Sunday, Aug. 30. OF Derek Dietrich will start in left field and is batting fifth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is still sidelined with his knee injury and no timetable has been announced. Dietrich ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has four hits in his last eight games and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann Saturday, Aug. 29. OF Derek Dietrich will start in left field and is batting fourth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been sidelined for the last few days because of a knee injury, so owners should look for a possible timetable. Dietrich ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is hitting .263 with three home runs and 14 RBI this month and could be an option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Prado ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has two homers, four RBI and five runs scored in his last four games, and he makes a solid value play at FantasyScore while he is swinging a hot bat.

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) aggravated his bruised right knee while diving back to first base during the game Tuesday, Aug. 25. With rosters expanding in September, he is not expected to be placed on the disabled list, but he is liekly to miss the entirety of Miami's current six-game road trip.
Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is enduring a disappointing season, both in terms of injury and poor production. He is worth stashing in deep leagues, but you'll want to aim for an upgrade in the majority of leagues. The counting stats haven't been there to buoy his respectable .275 batting average, and he just isn't pushing the fantasy needle enough. Derek Dietrich ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) projects to see regular at-bats with Yelich out, but Dietrich isn't worth a roster spot outside deep mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Nicolino ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) has allowed just two runs in each of his last three outings, although he has just one win over that stretch. He will make his next start against the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Updating a previous report, Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee, shin, ankle) was left out of the lineup Thursday, Aug. 27, due to continued discomfort in his right knee. He also fouled a ball off his shin and ankle during an at-bat Wednesday, Aug. 26, which didn't help matters. "We knew it was going to be touch and go with it and, to his credit, he jumped back out there for a couple of days," manager Dan Jennings said. "So now we just need to let the flare go down."
Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) will miss any additional games, although it should be noted that he didn't even take batting practice Thursday. Avoid using him in FantasyScore until he proves that he is completely healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is making good progress in his recovery and should be back for the final month of the season. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see him play in a game before using him, but his power potential makes him a nightly starting option.
Thu, 27 Aug 2015 13:56:41 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Fernandez ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) appears to be making good progress in his recovery and could pitch again in a few weeks. Fernandez could make a few starts before the end of the season but may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.
Thu, 27 Aug 2015 13:12:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is riding a 1-for-18 stretch over his past five games, but he remains a low-end catcher option in NL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catcher leagues. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) sports a .123/.192/.138 slash line over 23 games this season, and is an ill-advised fantasy option in all formats.
