Fantasy Tip: Urena has potential and will likely join the rotation. However, his results early this season weren't exactly sterling. Urena went 1-4 with a 4.04 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and a 4.04 K/9. He is an NL-only league option, but at this point, he is likely best avoided in all other formats, including FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Capps has been impressive in a set-up role with the Marlins and owns a 1.21 ERA, a 0.99 FIP, a 0.74 WHIP and a 17.0 K/9. He could land in saves situations at some point this season, and he worth owning in the majority of seasonal leagues. He'll likely stick in a set-up role, though, but with his impressive ratios, there is still plenty of fantasy value here.

Fantasy Tip: Soto and Pineyro have both been with Class AA Tennessee this season, and neither project to have a fantasy impact anytime soon. Soto has modest contact skills but just three home runs over 1887 plate appearances in the minor leagues. Pineyro has a 3.69 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP and a 7.7 K/9 over 107 1/3 innings. There is now another opening in the Marlins rotation, too, and keep an eye out for Justin Nicolino receiving a look in the role. He is worth a speculative flier in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, especially if you're desperate for pitching.

Fantasy Tip: Koehler ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) had been pretty solid before allowing five runs to the Washington Nationals in his last start. Despite a mediocre 6.3 K/9, Koehler has value as a sleeper pick on FantasyScore, mainly at home, where he owns a 2.32 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.

The Miami Marlins acquired SP Kevin Guzman, SP Jeff Brigham and RP Victor Araujo as part of the a three-way trade with the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday, July 30. The Dodgers acquired SP Alex Wood, SP Mat Latos, 1B Michael Morse, RP Jim Johnson, RP Luis Avilan, 2B Jose Peraza and SP Bronson Arroyo, and the Braves acquired 2B Hector Olivera, RP Paco Rodriguez, SP Zachary Bird and a draft choice.
Fantasy Tip: This was strictly a salary dump for the Marlins. With Morse ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) gone, Justin Bour ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) should continue to receive the majority of at-bats at first base. It is unknown who will join the starting rotation, and it is unlikely the Marlins are finished their roster makeover. Stay tuned for updates.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) doesn't deserve to be in any FantasyScore lineups, especially while facing Scherzer.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 09:10:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Prado ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) loses some daily value with a drop down the batting order, and he's even more of a weak play in daily leagues while facing Scherzer, one of the most dominant pitchers in the game today. Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is another low-end outfield option.

Miami Marlins SP Henderson Alvarez (shoulder), who had season-ending surgery Wednesday, July 29, was dealing with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Manager Dan Jennings said Alvarez's surgery was a success.
Fantasy Tip: Alvarez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) can be dropped in all fantasy leagues at this time. He's in danger of not being ready for spring training next year, too, so his draft value heading into the 2016 season will be weak.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 07:41:50 -0700
Fantasy Tip: McGehee ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has struggled all year and doesn't matchup well against Max Scherzer. Avoid him on FantasyScore.
Wed, 29 Jul 2015 19:46:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) definitely isn't the hitter he was in his prime and isn't even an everyday player anymore. He's strictly a low-end matchup play as a value pick in daily games.

Updating a previous report, the trade between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins involving Marlins SP Mat Latos and 1B Michael Morse is far from complete and could be falling apart, according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: This serves as a reminder to always stray from making hasty fantasy decisions until trades are officially confirmed. Stay tuned for an official announcement, and it might only be a minor hiccup in the negotiations. Starting for the Dodgers would be a huge fantasy boost for Latos ($6,400, 12.8% of cap).

Miami Marlins SP Justin Nicolino could be the closest member of Class AAA New Orleans to a call-up to fill the rotation void left when SP Mat Latos was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro speculates.
Fantasy Tip: Nicolino had a 4.09 ERA in two starts for the Marlins earlier this year, and he's gone 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 105 innings for New Orleans in 2015. The left-hander would definitely be in consideration for a pickup in deep mixed leagues if he secures a rotation spot in Miami for the rest of the season.
Wed, 29 Jul 2015 09:16:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Jose Urena is the most logical pitcher to take Latos' spot. He was decent with a 4.04 ERA in a handful of starts, but he didn't strike out many batters. Justin Bour ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) receives more job security with Morse gone. He's a midrange option on FantasyScore.

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (hand) has been cleared to swing off a tee. "His hand looks good," manager Dan Jennings said. "It's healed. The scar looks well. Now he's going to start off the tee and into flips. He'll progress at his timetable. It's good to see him making strides the right way."
Fantasy Tip: Jennings was asked if Stanton could return next week, and he didn't necessarily deny it. Keep Stanton stashed on your DL in all formats.

Fantasy Tip: Alvarez was winless in four decisions before shutting it down for the season. He could come on the cheap next spring in fantasy drafts as a result.
