Houston Astros SP Scott Feldman (shoulder) said he should be 100% when pitchers and catchers report to camp Thursday, Feb. 18. "Playing catch and throwing, I feel better than I have in years," Feldman added.
Fantasy Tip: Feldman is likely on the outside looking in at a rotation spot, and even should he be in the starting five, he is nothing more than a low-end option in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. Over the past three seasons, Feldman has a 3.83 ERA, a 4.13 FIP, a 1.25 WHIP and a 5.7 K/9, which hardly moves the fantasy needle.

Fantasy Tip: Fister likely will be in the middle of the team's starting rotation this season if he is healthy. Fister has had success in the past and could be a late-round option in deeper leagues, but owners should not be counting on him this season.

Fantasy Tip: Luhnow didn't specify what the limit is, but McCullers threw 164 innings between the majors and minors last season. A good estimate would be around 180-195 innings this season, which would amount to around 28-30 starts. McCullers is a solid grab in the SP3/SP4 range in mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Fister is worth a flyer as an SP4 or SP5, but his steep velocity drop is concerning. Don't overvalue him because of his productive past.

Fantasy Tip: Fister has experienced a steep velocity drop, and the ballpark doesn't suit him very well. He's still worth a flyer as an SP4 or SP5 considering how good he has been in the past.

Fantasy Tip: Fister likely will receive a short-term deal from a team in the near future and should be in a starting rotation in 2016. Fister posted a disappointing 4.19 ERA last season with only 63 strikeouts but could be a late-round option in deeper leagues depending on his new team.

Houston Astros SP Scott Feldman (shoulder) said that he has been going through his normal offseason conditioning program. He has been playing catch for several weeks and is expected to resume throwing bullpen sessions early next month prior to the opening of spring training camp.
Fantasy Tip: Feldman, who went 5-5 with a 3.90 ERA in 18 starts last season, is recovering from a sprained right shoulder and also missed time in 2015 due to arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He could be worth a late-round flier in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, although he is not guaranteed to begin the season in the starting rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis loses a lot of luster without catcher eligibility, but he still has big power in a favorable ballpark. He's an upper-middle outfielder.

Fantasy Tip: Although Houston may not need Cespedes with that great, young hitting staff, it wouldn't hurt to kick the tires. He'll be drafted high in mixed leagues and also in high rounds of whichever league he ends up in.
Fri, 15 Jan 2016 18:05:40 -0800
Fantasy Tip: In 153 regular-season games last season, Gattis hit .246 with 20 doubles, 11 triples, 27 home runs and 88 RBIs, along with 119 strikeouts in 566 at-bats. His fantasy value is somewhat diminished because he no longer qualifies as a catcher but he should be selected in the early rounds of AL-only leagues and the middle rounds of mixed leagues due to his power.

Fantasy Tip: Keuchel had a magical Cy Young season. Was it for real, though? His K/9 jumped nearly two strikeouts to 8.38. So just keep that in mind when considering him in the SP1 range.
Wed, 13 Jan 2016 12:08:07 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Kennedy posted a career-high 9.30 strikeouts per nine innings with the San Diego Padres last year, and he also improved his command. The problem was he allowed the hardest contact for an eligible pitcher, which in turn led to a 17.2% HR/FB rate. As more of a fly-ball pitcher, a move to Houston wouldn't be ideal for Kennedy.

Fantasy Tip: Inciarte is an NL-only commodity for now.
Sun, 03 Jan 2016 10:09:44 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Keuchel is coming off a Cy Young season where he finished with a 20-8 record and a 2.45 ERA. Keuchel will be the team's No. 1 pitcher again this season and should be an early-round pick in most drafts.
