Houston Astros SP Mike Fiers allowed seven runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, May 27, to suffer his third loss of the season. He struck out one batter and walked two during the game.
Fantasy Tip: Fiers had allowed only five runs in his previous three games but ran into trouble against the Angels. He is scheduled to face the Arizona Diamondbacks in his next start and may be a risky option for some owners.

Houston Astros 1B Tyler White is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 27. 3B Luis Valbuena shifts over to first base, which allows 3B Colin Moran to receive a start at third base against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker. Valbuena is hitting sixth and Moran is hitting seventh.
Fantasy Tip: White continues to struggle after impressing in April. His average is down to .228 on the season, and he's likely to continue losing playing time. He's becoming less valuable by the day in deep mixed and AL leagues. Valbuena has homered in each of the last three games and should be thrown out there while he's hot. Moran is hitless in his first 12 major league at-bats. Take a wait-and-see approach with the youngster for now.

Fantasy Tip: McCullers has had trouble with walks, but he also has 21 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings in three starts since his delayed debut. He should be owned in all formats, and you this is probably your last chance to snatch him off waivers.
Thu, 26 May 2016 21:04:19 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Springer has been hitting leadoff this series, and he has six hits in 12 at-bats. He isn't going to win a batting title, but he has power to spare and should be starting in all formats.
Thu, 26 May 2016 20:52:07 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Giles has been working his way back from an awful start, and he has allowed just one run in his last 10 appearances. He could have a chance to take command of the ninth inning going forward, and he is a must-add if you are looking for saves.
Thu, 26 May 2016 12:22:34 -0700
Fantasy Tip: He's still batting .312 with nine home runs, 27 RBI and 15 stolen bases on the year. Altuve is too good an all-around hitter to stay down for too long. Continue running him out there in your starting lineups.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis has been raking since returning to the team just over a week ago. In fact, since his first game back on May 17, the former Atlanta Brave is 11-for-31 with four home runs and six RBI. He appears to be fully healthy, and given his current production, he can certainly be a force again for fantasy teams that deploy him.

Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh took a no-decision in his start Wednesday, May 25, against the Baltimore Orioles. He worked 5 1/3 innings, surrendering three runs on eight hits and one walk. He also struck out a season-high 10 batters.
Fantasy Tip: McHugh was terrible throughout April but seemingly has righted the ship, as he's gone 2-1 with a 4.06 ERA in five starts in May, while picking up 31 strikeouts over 31 total innings. In addition, he pitched into the sixth inning or beyond in all five of those assignments. The 28-year-old hasn't been as sharp as he was the past two seasons, but at least he's getting closer to that form if his past couple of starts are any indication.

Houston Astros RP Will Harris has been one of baseball's better relief pitchers this year. He entered the day Wednesday, May 25, with a 0.44 ERA and 0.63 WHIP. He posted a 1.90 ERA in 71 innings in 2015 with Houston. Harris has a string of 19 straight scoreless appearances, which is the longest active streak in the majors and the longest for an Astros reliever since Wilton Lopez went 20 straight in 2010. He has mainly served as the team's eighth-inning setup man because of RP Ken Giles' struggles. Opponents are hitting .120 against Harris' curveball.
Fantasy Tip: Harris' numbers and Giles' struggles have led many in deeper mixed and AL-only leagues to scoop him up for his numbers alone. It's unknown who would receive the first crack at saves if Luke Gregerson is booted from the ninth inning, but Harris sure is a fine speculative grab, especially if you need help with your pitching ratios.

Fantasy Tip: Bregman has tore the cover off the ball for Class AA Corpus Christi with a .320/.424/.680 slash line, and he has 31 runs, 12 home runs and 32 RBI through just 145 plate appearances. He could land in Houston sooner than later given his monster start to the season, and the Astros have proven willing to speed their prospects to the highest level in the past. It isn't out of the question to stash Bregman in deep mixed leagues, but at worst, he is a player to watch over the next few weeks.

Houston Astros C Jason Castro is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 25. C/OF Evan Gattis is doing the catching and is batting fifth against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson. 1B Tyler White is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth.
Fantasy Tip: In daily leagues tonight, Gattis is the no-brainer option over White. Gattis is 9-for-27 (.333) with three home runs and four RBI since being called back up from the minors. White has hit a paltry .196 (9-for-46) this month and continues to lose valuable playing to Marwin Gonzalez at first base.

Fantasy Tip: With a dreadful .182/.238/.248 line in 34 games, Gomez has a lot of work to do to make up for his horrendous start when he's ready to return from the disabled list. In the meantime, while he's out, Jake Marisnick will benefit the most, but he's limited at the plate.

Houston Astros 3B Colin Moran is starting at third base and is hitting seventh, and OF Tony Kemp is in left field and batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Tuesday, May 24. 1B Tyler White and INF Marwin Gonzalez are starting on the bench.
Fantasy Tip: White has slumped badly since a hot start in April and his average is down to .230. He's quickly losing fantasy luster in deep mixed and AL leagues. Gonzalez is intriguing for his pop and multipositional eligibility, but with Moran around, his playing time situation is sketchy. Moran and Kemp are notable prospects that can contribute for owners in deeper leagues if they see enough at-bats. In daily formats tonight they're both more along the lines of deep sleepers against the hot Tillman. Moran is hitless in seven at-bats while the speedy Kemp has two hits (one double) in nine at-bats so far.

Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel is falling behind in counts often this year as he struggles. He has fallen behind in counts 37.9% of the time this season. Last year he fell behind to 34.8% of the batters he faced.
Fantasy Tip: Last year's AL Cy Young, Keuchel has been one of the biggest fantasy disappointments in 2016. His 5.92 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 7.7 strikeouts per nine innings leave a ton to be desired. His smoke-and-mirrors act isn't getting it done, and his 3.8 walks per nine innings have really come back to hurt him. Until he becomes more aggressive on the mound, he's likely to continue suffering from bad results. Right now, he's a shaky option that should only be used in the right matchups.
Sun, 22 May 2016 16:55:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: With catcher eligibility on the horizon and his power stroke coming around, Gattis could be worth picking up if he is available in your league, and he is a must-add in two-catcher formats.
