Houston Astros OF George Springer went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run scored and an RBI Saturday, July 23, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He was also caught stealing for the seventh time this season.
Fantasy Tip: Springer did a great job setting the table at the top of the Houston lineup. Overall he has just a .260 batting average, and he isn't your prototypical leadoff hitter with just six stolen bases. But he is a solid source of power and a must-start fantasy option across most formats.

Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks with six strikeouts over six innings in a win Saturday, July 23, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He threw 69 of his 99 pitches for strikes in the quality start.
Fantasy Tip: McHugh has won back-to-back starts for the first time since winning three in a row from April 27-May 8. He has three straight quality starts, and six in the past seven outings to re-emerge as a must-start in most fantasy formats and DFS play.

Houston Astros C-OF Evan Gattis (hand) returned to the lineup Saturday, July 23, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim after missing the game Friday, July 22, due to a bruised right hand. He had two home runs and four RBIs in the return. It was his sixth-career multi-homer game.
Fantasy Tip: It appears safe to get Gattis back into the active fantasy lineup in all seasonal leagues, and he can be trusted again in DFS for his power potential. He did not show any lingering effects of his hand injury in this one.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis isn't the defender Jason Castro is being the plate and has seen his usual designated hitter role filled by a number of players lately, in part due to his .218 average. He's still worth starting in most 12-team-or-larger leagues due to his power, but owners need to recognize the at-bats might not be there like they once were.

Fantasy Tip: McCullers has 90 strikeouts in 70 1/3 innings to go along with a 3.33 ERA. Trouble with walks hurts his WHIP, but he should still be owned in all formats.

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve leads the majors in batting average and hits and is currently riding a four-game multi-hit streak. He's batting .290 at home this season and is .500 (18-for-36) against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim this year.
Fantasy Tip: What can't the pint-sized Altuve do? The answer is really nothing. He's been the most valuable fantasy player so far this year with his league-leading .357 average, league-leading .427 on-base percentage, league-leading 133 hits and league-leading 25 steals. Not to mention he's also slugged 15 homers and driven in 54 runs. Ho hum.

Fantasy Tip: Gurriel just signed with the Astros earlier this month, and if things go according to plan for the 32-year-old Cuban, it's possible he could find himself on the major league roster, even if it takes until September for that to happen. For that reason, he might be worth a stash in deep formats, not to mention dynasty leagues, too.

Fantasy Tip: Reed, a big-time power prospect for Houston, failed to deliver in his first taste of major league pitching with a .156 average, two home runs and four RBI in 45 at-bats. He's one to stash in keeper leagues, but everywhere else you can drop him. Bregman has done nothing but hit in every minor league stop, and it seems as though the 'Stros are making room for him in the second half. Stash him in dynasty and AL-only leagues for now.

Fantasy Tip: Bregman is pushing for a promotion to the Astros with a .388/.414/.746 slash line through 15 games with Fresno. He is among the best hitters outside the majors and is worth owning in deep leagues, as he appears to be being groomed for a super-utility role for the Houston stretch drive. The Astros have also shown a willingness to rush their prospects to the majors in the past. This is a player to watch in all fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Correa is batting .296 with six home runs and 30 RBI in 108 at-bats since being moved from the third to the fourth spot in the batting order. He should continue to be viewed as a high-end shortstop in all fantasy formats.
Wed, 20 Jul 2016 18:30:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: With Wednesday's win, Fister reached double-digit victories for the fifth time in his MLB career. He is 9-3 with 11 quality starts since May 1, and will face the New York Yankees in his next scheduled outing Tuesday, July 26.
Wed, 20 Jul 2016 16:03:03 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Before Wednesday, Gattis was batting a disappointing .220 but with 13 home runs and 36 RBI. He's never been a big average guy, and his power continues to be his main source of usefulness in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. Be prepared to hold him out of your lineups over the next few days.

Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. INF Marwin Gonzalez moves to left field and is hitting second, while OF Colby Rasmus takes over in center field and is batting sixth against Oakland Athletics SP Daniel Mengden.
Fantasy Tip: Gomez's disappointing season continues with his .143 (8-for-56) average in July with two homers and 14 strikeouts. At this point, there isn't much hope for a turnaround, and he could start losing playing time as a result. It's hard to justify holding him in mixed formats.
Wed, 20 Jul 2016 07:55:32 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Altuve currently paces the American League in hits (131), stolen bases (25), batting average (.354) and total bases (208). He's a top-tier fantasy asset and well on his way to a monster five-category season, as the second baseman also sits with 73 runs, 15 home runs and 54 RBI.
Tue, 19 Jul 2016 23:54:42 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Springer, the team's leadoff hitter, has a career high in home runs and should have a spot in AL and mixed leagues, as well as daily formats.
