Houston Astros news, rumors and injuries
Sun, 30 Aug 2015 08:41:12 -0700
Updating a previous report, Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 30. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at shortstop and batting second against Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana Sunday.
Fantasy Tip: Continue to remain patient with Correa ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) in seasonal leagues, and avoid him at FantasyScore until he returns, which is expected to be sooner than later. Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) stands as a viable value play in daily contests Sunday. He is batting .300 over 34 games since the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Sunday. He is batting just .159 since returning from injury Thursday, July 30, and seasonal owners should consider replacements. Carter ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is a potential flier for FantasyScore players Sunday, as Santana ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) sports a target-worthy 9.20 ERA over his past six starts. Still, Carter is extremely risky.

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) will not play against the Minnesota Twins Sunday, Aug. 20, unless he is 100% healthy, according to manager A.J. Hinch. "It's a pretty simple decision. If there's sensitivity in there and he's showing any signs of discomfort, it's a no. No different than parenting."
Fantasy Tip: You'll want to check back for an official word on Correa ($5,200, 10.4% of cap), but it wouldn't be shocking to see him return Sunday. Still, he might not be the safest play at FantasyScore after missing time. The rookie has hit a bit of a road bump in August, too. He sports a .238/.354/.440 slash line, but the power has remained with five long flies and 14 RBI. Continue to view Correa as a high-end shortstop in all fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Over his four starts with Houston, Fiers ($7,800 15.6% of cap) owns a 0.67 ERA with 24 punchouts over 27 innings, including his no-hitter Friday, Aug. 21. Fiers is worth owning in all seasonal formats at this point, and he is a matchup play at FantasyScore. Just keep your expectations in check because he has been inconsistent in the past and is likely pitching a touch over his head of late.

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Saturday, Aug. 29. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at shortstop and is batting second, while OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and is batting ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor Correa's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) status to see when he may be able to return to the lineup. Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) could be cheaper options for owners on FantasyScore.
Sat, 29 Aug 2015 14:29:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hank Conger ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) probably will receive most of the starts with Castro out of the lineup. Conger is hitting only .215 this season and is not a great option on FantasyScore.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 17:31:28 -0700
Fantasy Tip: During the month of August, McHugh ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) went 2-2 with a 1.89 ERA over five starts, with 34 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings. He will make his next start against the Seattle Mariners Wednesday, Sept. 2, and is worthy of consideration for your FantasyScore lineups.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 14:53:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Springer ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should be owned in all seasonal formats, and he should inject a spark in both the Houston lineup and your fantasy team. He'll need to shake off a lot of rust during his rehab assignment and don't rule out a slow start once he returns. Still, he offers five-category production and tremendous upside.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 14:28:32 -0700
Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) is dealing with soreness in his left hamstring and is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 28. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at shortstop and batting seventh against Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Gibson Friday.
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Correa ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. It doesn't appear to be a serious injury, so there is potential for Correa to rejoin the starting lineup Saturday, Aug. 29. Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is a sneaky value play at FantasyScore Friday, as he is 11-for-38 with four extra-base hits and a .834 OPS over his past 12 games. Still, Gonzalez is a long way from a lineup lock.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 19:50:20 -0700
Fantasy Tip: McHugh ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) is 2-2 in five starts in the month of August, but he has a sparkling 1.89 ERA with at least five strikeouts in each of his outings. All five outings have been quality starts, too, and his lack of wins is more of a run support issue, as the team had totaled just three runs in his previous three starts.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 19:49:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is a tremendous source of power in FantasyScore at a cut-rate price. He has three homers and six RBIs over the past two days, and five homers with nine RBIs over the past 10 games. He also has three straight multi-hit games, so ride the wave until he cools off a bit.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 19:49:34 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The bad news is that Rasmus ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) was run from the game, finishing 1-for-3 with two strikeouts. The good news is that it wasn't any sort of an injury. He remains a low-end FantasyScore option going forward.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 11:03:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Despite his slump since his return, Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is a valuable commodity in deep mixed leagues as an everyday player, and his power potential will continue to make him an intriguing value option in daily formats.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 10:32:34 -0700
Houston Astros OF George Springer (wrist) could start a minor league rehab assignment as early as this weekend after he took batting practice again Wednesday, Aug. 26, for the third straight day. He will hit with the team again Friday, Aug. 28. He could be sent to Class AA Corpus Christi or Class AAA Fresno.
Fantasy Tip: Springer ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should have been stashed everywhere, and his owners will be happy to return him to their starting lineup immediately when he's back next month. He should continue to be a solid FantasyScore click when he returns, as well.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 09:02:12 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) might be a bit more intriguing to some today because it's Pineda's first start since coming off the DL, but the right-hander has 117 strikeouts and only 15 walks in 118 innings this season. Marisnick has a nice combination of speed and power, but his on-base percentage is just .265 this year, and his low lineup spot makes him a weaker FantasyScore option.
